Meng Kuan's family members had already begun climbing the ladder next to them.
Su Yuze glanced back at Lin Qingfeng and the others who were struggling, and nodded vigorously to Su Wan. He ran to the ladder, grabbed the horizontal bar, and began to climb.
Su Wan ran to Zhao Xiyue's side, bent down and helped Zhao Xiyue up to walk towards the ladder.
She wasn't very strong to begin with, and supporting Zhao Xiyue made walking extremely difficult. Zhao Xiyue cried out, "Sister-in-law, my knees hurt so much, I can't climb the ladder."
In a moment of quick thinking, Su Wan shouted to the city wall, "Do you have any sturdy, long ropes? Throw them down quickly!"
Su Yuze had climbed halfway up the city wall and shouted to the top, "Sister needs a rope, brothers, hurry up and go find one!"
Su Wan helped Zhao Xiyue to the foot of the city wall. The soldiers threw down two long ropes and shouted, "Madam, quickly tie these around your and Miss Zhao's waists, and we'll pull you up together."
Su Wan picked up the rope and tied it around Zhao Xiyue's waist, glancing nervously at Lin Qingfeng as she fastened the knot.
Lin Qingfeng's men had been almost entirely killed or wounded, and he was now fighting five scimitar-wielding warriors. His back was stained with blood, seemingly torn by a scimitar. He continued to brandish his sword, blocking any scimitar-wielding warriors who tried to approach them.
"Qingfeng, you absolutely must not get hurt." Su Wan tied a tight knot and tugged on the rope. "Pull it up."
After Zhao Xiyue was pulled upwards by the rope, she took another rope and tied it around her waist.
Before she could even fasten the belt, she heard a loud thud beside her ear. Looking up, she saw Lin Qingfeng flying backward and crashing at her feet. He seemed to have been punched or kicked and was lying on the ground, unable to get up.
"Qingfeng!" she exclaimed, releasing the rope and squatting down in front of Lin Qingfeng. "Let me help you up."
Before he could finish speaking, the five warriors from Southern Chu had already surrounded him.
With a soft whoosh, the Southern Chu warrior at the front had an arrow lodged in his skull and fell backward. The other four warriors looked up as another arrow flew in, striking one of them squarely in the face.
The remaining three dared not approach Su Wan and Lin Qingfeng any further, and quickly ran away from the city wall. Halfway there, another arrow flew by and pierced the back of the last man's head. In the end, only two managed to escape.
Su Wan, supporting Lin Qingfeng's arm, looked up and exclaimed in surprise:
"Ah Jin!"
