Chapter 222 Let him see this light

She didn't even dare to imagine the consequences.

Dragging Meng Ruliu to Wei Jingzhuo's side, she called out, "Ajin, take good care of your sworn sister."

After saying that, she rushed towards the steps of the city wall.

Wei Jingzhuo was shocked and called out from behind, "Awan, what are you doing?"

She ignored Wei Jingzhuo's calls, her mind focused on only one thing: stopping the Southern Chu army from entering the city.

There are too many people she cares about in the city: her lover, her younger brother, her best friend, her cousin... She absolutely cannot let these people get hurt.

She climbed the stone steps up the city wall.

The Southern Chu army's trebuchets had stopped launching stones. The soldiers defending the city walls were firing arrows downwards. Men were constantly being hit by arrows and falling, rolling on the ground and screaming in agony.

Su Wan crawled forward on her hands and knees on the gravel-strewn ground. Although she looked disheveled, this way the arrows from the Southern Chu army would not hit her.

She had to climb to the top of the large flag in the very center of the city wall. That was the most conspicuous spot; she should be able to see Chu Yi there, and Chu Yi should be able to see her too.

Halfway up, a soldier fell and landed on her waist, which she pushed away with all her might. After only a few steps, another soldier stepped on her hand and calf in the chaos. Tears streamed down her face from the pain, but she gritted her teeth and continued crawling forward.

After finally climbing up to the top of the banner, several soldiers were guarding it, shooting arrows down at him.

She gasped for breath and gripped the arrow sack with both hands, trying to stand up.

Before he could even get up, his soldiers screamed in agony and collapsed to the ground one after another. Some had been shot in the face, others in the neck; blood gushed out, and they rolled a few times on the ground before going still.

Countless archers from Southern Chu were aiming at the city walls from below. If she rashly stood up, she would most likely suffer the same fate as those soldiers and die on the spot.

She took a deep breath, took the laser pointer out of the apartment, and tested it by holding it in her palm.

Then, mustering her courage, she suddenly stood up, quickly glanced around, and immediately squatted down again.

Several arrows whizzed past her head. Had she not crouched down quickly, she would have been hit in the face by at least one arrow.

She saw it clearly.

Below the city wall, a dense mass of Southern Chu troops surged towards the breach, numbering in the thousands. In the distance, Chu Yi, clad in deep red armor, stood beneath the Southern Chu army's command flag, surrounded by several generals holding torches. Also present was a woman, dressed in a black robe and wearing a mask.

That position was impossible to hit with an arrow. But her laser pointer could.

"God, please, let Brother Chu see this light."

Su Wan raised the laser pointer and pressed the switch in Chu Yi's direction.
