Chapter 23 is truly an interesting person.



A person can dress simply, but their innate temperament can never be hidden.

Su Wan wanted to ask the villagers for information, but when she saw someone coming, she handed the bowl back to him.

"Let's not compete for business between us two beggars. I'm going to open for business now." After saying that, she quickly walked towards the villagers.

The man paused, squinted at the departing figure, and chuckled softly, "That's interesting."

When the villagers saw Su Wan approaching, they hurriedly tried to disperse.

Are you kidding me? They're so poor they have to sell their pants, where would they get the extra food to give to a beggar like her!

"Gentlemen, wait a moment!" she chased after them. "I'm not asking you for food, but to ask where the Da Lan family has gone?"

Upon hearing that they were inquiring about something, some people stopped in their tracks.

"The Da Lan family left yesterday. You've come at a bad time."

Su Wan said, "Oh, is that so? Uncle, I am Da Lan's sister-in-law. I had a misfortune outside and only returned to our village this morning. There is no food at home, so I would like to ask for some food."

Upon hearing that she wanted to eat, those people quickly hid and left.

“They just sold Dalan and moved away after getting some money,” the villager said, pointing to Dalan’s house. “That’s Dalan’s house. You should go there now.”

As for Su Wan saying she was Da Lan's sister-in-law, they didn't think much of it.

They had also heard about Dalan's older brother getting married outside the village, and now that he had returned, no one suspected anything.

Anyway, people come and go in this village, and everyone knows each other. Besides, what Su Wan said makes sense.

"You lot, stop right there!"
