“This is the treatment room for patients,” Jiang Yan said to Qiu Jie, who was pushing Chu Yi, standing in the empty room. “Miss Qiu must be surprised that there is nothing here.”
The room seemed to be built with very smooth and flat light blue diamond-shaped stones. A white light emanated from somewhere, illuminating the entire room and making it feel like this room did not belong to this world.
Qiu Jie nodded: "I was indeed surprised. I thought there would be all sorts of medicines and equipment here, but I didn't expect it to be so empty."
She had just finished bathing and changed into a white robe. Her still-damp black hair was draped over her back, and only the wooden clown mask remained on her face.
According to the rules of the family of renowned healers, one must first cleanse oneself and take a bath in the outer room before entering the consultation room. All dangerous items must be left outside the consultation room, and even hairpins are not allowed to be brought in.
Jiang Yan, with his hands behind his back, faced Qiu Jie and said, "That's because we don't use common methods to treat patients. Miss Qiu, you've seemed very calm since you arrived here, which I greatly admire. Do you still remember your mother?"
“No,” Qiu Jie shook her head and said, “She died when I was very young.”
“She escaped from here,” Jiang Yan said. “Eighteen years ago, after the goddess’s sacrificial ceremony, she ran away with the Resurrection Pendant.”
Qiu Jie was a woman, and there was nothing on her that could threaten him. She also carried a weapon for self-defense and was not worried about revealing the truth about the goddess.
"Sacrifice?" Qiu Jie shuddered slightly. "Does a goddess really need to sacrifice herself?"
Jiang Yan said, "That's right, your mother naturally won't tell you these things. Now that you're back, you can't leave again. Once we've cured the Seventh Prince, you must marry him immediately."
"Why?" Qiu Jie parked Chu Yi in the center of the room. "Isn't the Great Jin army approaching the Southern Chu Kingdom more important?"
“That’s not a big deal,” Jiang Yan said. “Although Southern Chu is small, with our support, there’s no need to worry about Great Jin. The reason we haven’t helped the Southern Chu emperor is because these things aren’t our primary concern.”
Qiu Jie walked past Chu Yi, stood before the wall, and gently touched it with her hand, feeling its smooth, cold texture. She asked, "Is our marriage the thing you're most concerned about?"
“That’s right, wars can begin and they can end. But once a bloodline is broken, it can never be restored.” Jiang Yan stopped in front of Chu Yi. “As you know, the current Empress of the Southern Chu Emperor is not a goddess, but just an ordinary woman.”
"Is there any harm in doing this?" Qiu Jie stopped and turned to look at Jiang Yan.
“The emperor had eight children, six of whom were sons, but of all those sons, only Chu Yi’s bloodline is sufficient to meet our needs.” Jiang Yan pushed Chu Yi to a wall and stopped. “If he cannot unite with the goddess, then his next generation will no longer be qualified. You can think of it as the bloodline being diluted more and more, eventually becoming worthless.”
Qiu Jie asked, "What's the point of the goddess marrying into the Southern Chu royal family?"
“This is actually a good thing; it could save your life,” Jiang Yan turned around and walked to a wall. “But we won’t need you this time. Don’t worry, your mother has already done it for you.”
"So I'm going to be locked up here forever and can't leave?" Qiu Jie walked towards Jiang Yan.
Jiang Yan said, "Of all the generations of goddesses, your mother was the first to escape. She hid herself very well, and we lack the means to find her. Therefore, we cannot afford the consequences of a goddess escaping again."
Qiu Jie said, "But I have a grudge that I haven't settled yet. I'm going to kill Wei Jingzhuo. That's my goal."
“It doesn’t matter. As long as we heal the Seventh Prince,” Jiang Yan fiddled with the wall for a bit, creating a dent, “marrying the Seventh Prince and having children is the most important thing. We can help you take revenge; Wen Pei can handle that. I’ve already spoken to him about mobilizing our resources to help you.”
He turned around and pointed to the dent: "Miss Qiu, I can treat the Seventh Prince's injury. He will be fully healed in ten days to half a month. Your blood is needed to open this door."
Qiu Jie took a step back and asked, "My blood?"
“Press your thumb into that oval indentation, it will hurt a little,” Jiang Yan said. “Don’t you want to see the doctor who cured your fiancé? She told me that if you come back, she must see you. More importantly, she can explain all your doubts.”
Qiu Jie hesitated for a moment before placing her thumb in the recess in the wall. A needle rose from the recess and pierced her thumb, and a drop of blood oozed from the needle tip.
After a brief pause, the white light in the room suddenly turned into a flashing red light, sweeping across the faces of the three people.
"Unable to recognize, what's going on?" Jiang Yan walked curiously to the recessed area in the wall. "Could it be that it's been unused for so many years and is misrecognizing something?"
If it were the goddess's blood, the door would open. The flash of red light meant that Qiu Jie's blood did not meet the requirements.
In other words, she was not a goddess.
However, Jiang Yan didn't immediately realize what was happening; instead, she assumed it was because the product hadn't been used for too long.
He was studying with his head down when Qiu Jie behind him reached out, pinched the edge of the mask, pulled it down, and drew out a two-finger-wide dagger. He gripped the wooden part with both hands, aimed the blade at the back of his neck, and plunged it in.
When Jiang Yan brought Wei Shao here in her previous life, he also discovered that she was not a goddess, confiscated the Resurrection Pendant, and banished her from the sacred land. She didn't care.
In this life, however, she cannot do that; she needs to maintain her identity as a goddess in order to control the army of Southern Chu.
