Wei Jingzhuo shot an arrow at Chu Kai, then stood on the ruins of the city gate tower, bow in hand, and said, "Chu Kai, General Wei Jingzhuo is here."
Chu Kai chased after him, but before he could even step onto the ruins, Wei Jingzhuo had already leaped down from the other side, walked to the stone steps of the lower city, pulled an arrow from his quiver, nocked the bowstring, and aimed at the top of the ruins, waiting for Chu Kai to appear.
Having lost track of Wei Jingzhuo, Chu Kai did not continue climbing the ruins, but instead turned around and looked around.
Su Wan was running forward when she saw Chu Kai turn around, and she was startled.
Having learned from her previous experience, she knew that Chu Kai would only react to moving people, so she quickly threw herself into the pile of corpses and pretended to be dead.
She had barely fallen when a pungent smell assaulted her nostrils, making her unbearably itchy. Looking closer, she realized that, by sheer coincidence, she had landed right next to a broken bamboo tube, and the smell was from chili water.
She quickly reached out to cover her mouth and nose, but as soon as she raised her hand, a huge sneeze erupted.
Chu Kai, who was looking around blankly, suddenly turned towards her direction when he heard the sneeze, strode over, and swung his halberd fiercely.
Su Wan closed her eyes, thinking, "It's over, it's over, I'm going to die here."
Meng Ruliu's exclamation rang out behind her as the halberd whistled past above and behind her head, the gust of wind even lifting her hair.
Chu Kai was used to killing, and his halberd sweeps aimed at a person's waist. Su Wan was lying on the ground, so the halberd missed her.
Having narrowly escaped death, Su Wan was still drenched in cold sweat, her hands gripping the bamboo tube, her body trembling uncontrollably.
Chu Kai swept his halberd back and forth twice, then sheathed it and took a few steps forward, seemingly puzzled as to why he hadn't hit anyone. He stood right in front of Su Wan, only a few feet apart.
Su Wan cautiously turned her head to look up. Chu Kai was looking around. His black armor was covered in bloodstains, and black blood dripped down the edges of the armor. The tip of his massive halberd had carved deep grooves into the stone slabs of the ground, making a sickeningly loud sound.
With the two so close, if Chu Kai were to jump up and spray pepper spray at that moment, he definitely wouldn't be able to dodge it.
But never mind, my life is more important.
She's just a weak woman; there's no need for her to defy the gods. Even if the sky falls, there's always the tall Wei Jingzhuo to hold it up.
"Chu Kai." Wei Jingzhuo's voice rang out again amidst the ruins.
Hearing the sound, Chu Kai turned to look at the ruins. Just then, another arrow flew in and pierced his right eye. Chu Kai immediately bent over and roared.
His body was as hard as iron, but his eyes remained vulnerable. Wei Jingzhuo's arrow was aimed precisely at his eyes.
Su Wan was overjoyed to see that Chu Kai was finally injured. She didn't dare to get up immediately, afraid that Chu Kai would turn around and kill her in an instant. She just raised her hand and gave Wei Jingzhuo a thumbs up.
Wei Jingzhuo calmed down when he saw her raise her hand and said to Chu Kai, "Chu Kai, your opponent is me."
Chu Kai grasped the arrow shaft stuck in his eye, pulled it out, and pulled the arrowhead and eyeball out together, leaving only a dark eye socket with black blood flowing out.
He injected himself with three doses of the drug in succession, completely losing his mind. He threw away the arrow shaft, picked up his halberd, and chased after Wei Jingzhuo.
Wei Jingzhuo calmly leaped down from the ruins and retreated into the city along the stone steps leading down the city wall, with Chu Kai chasing after him, wielding his halberd.
Seeing the two of them descend from the city wall, Su Wan finally dared to stand up. She felt as if her whole body was about to fall apart, and her legs were weak and powerless. This was mainly due to the fall caused by the collapse of the city gate tower, and partly because she was frightened by Chu Kai.
Meng Ruliu ran up to her and said, "Sister, let's hurry down the city. The Southern Chu army is attacking the city again."
"They're here again?" Su Wan barely managed to stand up and peered out from the crenellation. A dark mass of Southern Chu troops was rushing towards the city wall, but the Ghost Army was no longer visible inside.
She pulled her head back and said to Meng Ruliu, "Sister-in-law, I can't walk anymore, can you help me?"
Meng Ruliu helped her up and said, "No problem, I'll help you down the city wall first, and then we'll go after His Highness. Our forces outnumber the Southern Chu army, and the Ghost Army is wiped out. We can leave this to our soldiers."
Just now, Chu Kai had been killing indiscriminately on the city wall, wiping out all the Jin soldiers on the gate tower side, and the Jin soldiers inside the city dared not come up. After Wei Jingzhuo led Chu Kai down from the city wall, the Jin soldiers rushed up the stone steps and began to set up defenses.
Meng Ruliu helped Su Wan down the city wall and saw Chu Kai roaring angrily as he chased Wei Jingzhuo inside the city.
Wei Jingzhuo seemed to know that Chu Kai was now invulnerable to weapons, so he avoided direct combat with Chu Kai. He simply dodged and exhausted Chu Kai's strength. The two figures appeared and disappeared between the houses.
Many Jin soldiers around the two fired arrows at Chu Kai, but the arrows had no effect on him.
Enraged by the crowd, Chu Kai swung his halberd wildly, causing houses to collapse and dust to fly wherever he went. Many soldiers who couldn't escape in time were buried under the rubble.
Su Wan held the bamboo tube in her hand and said, "Chu Kai has been given several doses of medicine to counteract the capsaicin, but the effects probably won't subside anytime soon. We'll have to spray him with more pepper spray."
Meng Ruliu advised, "Sister-in-law, let's not go over there. Just leave it to a spray gun soldier."
A soldier nearby volunteered, "Madam, General Mingwei, I can go."
Su Wan handed the spray canister to the soldier and said, "Whatever you do, don't attract Chu Kai's attention. I'll have everyone shoot arrows and shout to distract him. Remember to spray his face, not his armor."
The soldier noted it down, took the bamboo tube, and ran into the ruins of the house, hiding behind an earthen wall.
Meng Ruliu instructed the Jin soldiers nearby, "Go to Chu Kai's left and shout loudly to attract his attention. If he chases after you, run away quickly."
