The large door in the rock wall slowly opened, revealing a long, dark corridor sloping downwards.
“Goddess, don’t be anxious, please come with me,” Jiang Wenpei said, walking ahead. “I’ve already pushed him to the door of the consultation room, just waiting for you to arrive.”
As the two moved forward, sections of the corridor lit up, illuminating the path ahead, as if the walls were glowing.
Su Wan didn't see any lights protruding. Normally, she would have curiously asked Jiang Wenpei about these things. But the news of Wei Jingzhuo's serious injuries had her mind in turmoil. Even knowing that Jiang Wenpei could heal Wei Jingzhuo, she had no interest in the strange things around her.
"Since Mr. Jiang has agreed to treat A-Jin, why don't you do it quickly instead of waiting for me to come?" she asked.
Jiang Wenpei said, "Only the patriarch and the goddess are qualified to bring patients into the consultation room. The patriarch and the seventh prince are still inside, and I cannot violate this rule."
He could allow the Third Princess Chu Mingyao to bring Su Wan into the Holy Land, but he didn't have the guts to barge into the consultation room in front of the family head. From a young age, he was taught to abide by the precepts of the family of divine healers and the orders of the family head.
The two walked to the end of the corridor, where two separate entrances appeared, with transparent glass doors and windows, and light blue curtains drawn inside.
Jiang Wenpei walked towards one of the entrances and said, "Goddess, you need to wash your body before entering the treatment room. Please come in; there are clothes to change into at the exit."
Su Wan, being a medical student, understood that this was the procedure for entering the operating room.
Compared to the handwashing and surgical gowning procedures she was familiar with, this seemed even more rigorous, requiring her to wash her body as well. She walked to the glass door, which immediately slid open, revealing a showerhead and a designated area for storing clothes.
There were still faint water stains on the floor of the shower room, and it smelled of disinfectant.
She had no time to pay attention; she quickly washed up, went to the exit, changed into a new robe, and strung the resurrection pendant with the red string used to tie her hair, hanging it in front of her chest.
Outside the door was a more spacious area, with two tightly closed doors facing her, seemingly made of metal. Metal benches lined the walls on either side. On a wheeled cart by the door, Wei Jingzhuo lay quietly.
She ran to the cart, her hand outstretched in mid-air before stopping and clenching into a fist. Looking at Wei Jingzhuo, tears welled in her eyes, and she whispered:
"Ah Jin, can you hear me? I'm here."
Wei Jingzhuo appeared to be asleep, but he was on the verge of death. She didn't know where Wei Jingzhuo was injured, and the best course of action was not to touch him.
"Goddess, don't be sad. He's already asleep and can't hear you. He can be cured by going into the examination room." Jiang Wenpei's voice sounded behind her. "However, the door to the examination room can only be opened by the Resurrection Pendant. Goddess, do you see that dent next to the door?"
Beside the two tightly sealed doors, there was a jade pendant-shaped indentation in the wall. Su Wan wiped away her tears, walked over, took the resurrection pendant off, and placed it in the indentation.
The resurrection pendant was embedded in the recess and slowly sank into the wall.
After a pause, the resurrection pendant slowly sprang out again, but the door remained closed. The lights inside the room changed from white to red and began to flicker rhythmically. The entire room was bathed in a mixture of darkness and red, causing Su Wan to feel a growing sense of unease.
She turned to look at Jiang Wenpei: "Mr. Jiang, the resurrection pendant has popped out again. Are there any other steps needed to open the door?"
Jiang Wenpei exclaimed in surprise and came closer, saying, "How could that be? Logically, if you put the Resurrection Pendant inside, the gate should open."
Su Wan looked up at the ceiling and asked, "What's with the red light? Does it mean the door is malfunctioning?"
Jiang Wenpei said, "To be honest, I don't know either. I only came here once when I was a child with my brother. That time, I was accompanying your mother."
Su Wan asked, "My mother has been here before?"
Jiang Wenpei stood in front of the mechanism on the wall, feeling around: "Yes, after she was sixteen years old and her soul was transferred, the patriarch brought her here. I came along too. At that time, the patriarch had your mother open the door with the Resurrection Pendant. Indeed, the door opened as soon as you put it in."
Su Wan asked, "Is it because there are people inside that the door won't open?"
On second thought, this logic doesn't make sense. Does it mean that only two people can go into the examination room, and no more? That's completely unreasonable.
As she was pondering this, Jiang Wenpei reached out and knocked on the door. The door seemed to be made of solid metal, and there was no vibration when she knocked on it.
"Master, can you hear me? I am Wenpei."
Su Wan pressed her ear against the door to listen, but heard no sound from inside. She asked, "Is this door soundproof? I can't hear anything. Aren't the patriarch and Brother Chu inside?"
“Maybe so, maybe they can’t hear us inside,” Jiang Wenpei turned back into the depression and looked around closely, “Let me see if there are any other switches.”
Su Wan said, "If the Resurrection Pendant doesn't work, maybe there's a manual switch. I'll go look for it nearby."
Jiang Wenpei said, "Okay, I'll look for it too."
The two separated and reached out to touch and press on the wall to see if they could find a switch.
"If we delay, will Ah Jin's injuries worsen?" Su Wan asked as she searched.
Jiang Wenpei said, "No, I've already given him the medicine. His condition is a bit more serious than the Seventh Prince's, but he's still fine. It took the Seventh Prince a week to get here, and he was alright too."
"That's good."
After a moment of silence, Jiang Wenpei said, "Goddess, I have a question I've been wanting to ask you."
"Mr. Jiang, please speak."
"How did you come up with the idea of using chili peppers to deal with someone who drank the secret medicine?"
Su Wan placed her hands on the wall, turned her head and said, "Mr. Jiang, you know I'm a soul-swapping person, right?"
