Chapter 261 The White Walkers

Jiang Wenpei searched for a while but couldn't find any switch on the wall. Seeing that Su Wan wanted to try again, he nodded and said, "Then let's try one more time."

It seems there's no other way but to put the resurrection pendant back in.

Su Wan returned to the depression and placed the Resurrection Pendant inside. The pendant sank slowly as before, paused for a moment, and then bounced back out.

Everything was the same as last time, but the room had changed. The red light was flashing more frequently and rapidly, carrying a strong sense of warning.

Su Wan hesitated, holding the jade pendant and looking at Jiang Wenpei.

Jiang Wenpei said, "The only way to treat His Highness's injuries is to go into the treatment room. Goddess, you can try again."

Su Wan knew this too, and placed the Resurrection Pendant back into the recess. This time, the Resurrection Pendant didn't sink; instead, it flashed with a white light. The door emitted a low hum and slowly opened to both sides.

"It's open! It's open!" Su Wan exclaimed in surprise, took back the Resurrection Pendant and hung it around her neck, then ran to the back of the cart and grabbed the handle.

Jiang Wenpei also breathed a long sigh of relief: "I thought the door was broken, but thankfully it was open."

Both of them were too hasty in their excitement. The door opened only a crack before stopping, and a creaking sound came from inside the wall, as if it were stuck. The opening was only wide enough for an adult to squeeze through sideways.

The two looked at each other, puzzled. Su Wan said, "It seems to be stuck?"

Jiang Wenpei also looked bewildered. He quickly walked to the door, peered through the crack, and tentatively called out, "Brother? Seventh Prince?"

Su Wan looked over his shoulder and saw that the room inside the door was also flickering with red light, sometimes bright and sometimes dim. But it was darker inside, and even when the red light was on, it was not so clear.

Red signifies warning, signifies danger. There's a red light outside the main door, and it's also flashing red inside the examination room. What's going on?

“My brother is inside. I’ll go in and take a look first,” Jiang Wenpei said, squeezing his way in. “The door might be malfunctioning; they can’t open it from the inside.”

Su Wan looked around and found that the door gap wasn't wide enough for the stroller to fit. She said to Jiang Wenpei, "Mr. Jiang, if the stroller can't fit, the two of us will carry Ajin in."

Jiang Wenpei turned his head and said, "It's alright, the patriarch can..."

He was only halfway through his sentence when he suddenly darted into the room, as if someone inside was pulling him forcefully.

Su Wan was startled and peeked through the crack in the door.

Jiang Wenpei had disappeared without a trace, and hadn't made a sound.

"Mr. Jiang, who was the person who pulled you just now? Please answer me."

There was no echo from the consultation room; it was as if Jiang Wenpei had vanished into thin air.

There should have been three people inside, but no one responded to her.

Who was the person who pulled Jiang Wenpei in just now? Was it Chu Yi or the head of the family of divine doctors?

Her heart pounded, and she involuntarily swallowed, pulling the cart backward. She said, "Mr. Jiang, you should be able to hear me. Answer me! Aren't you inside?"

The situation inside was so bizarre that she couldn't help but be afraid.

Taking two steps back, she remembered that this was the only place where Wei Jingzhuo could be treated. Looking at the unconscious Wei Jingzhuo on the trolley, she gritted her teeth, pulled the trolley aside, and walked cautiously towards the door of the examination room.

"Brother Chu, was it you who pulled Mr. Jiang just now? I'm Su Wan, can you say something?"

The closer she got to the door of the consultation room, the more violently she trembled, feeling her legs go weak, and several times she wanted to turn back and run away. However, when she turned around and saw Wei Jingzhuo, she stopped in her tracks.

Although Jiang Wenpei told her not to worry about Wei Jingzhuo's injuries worsening, she was still uneasy and hoped to get into the examination room as soon as possible.

"Mr. Jiang? Patriarch? Brother Chu?" she tentatively called out to each of them one by one.

There was still no response from inside. She took a high-powered flashlight from the apartment, held it in her hand, and pressed the switch, illuminating the examination room with a bright beam of light.

The circular beam of light first shone on the walls of the consultation room. She didn't see anything special; the room seemed completely empty.

She moved the beam of light to the left and right and noticed what appeared to be a pool of blood on the wall.

Her heart tightened, and she aimed the beam of light again to examine it closely. Indeed, there were numerous bloodstains on the wall, as if someone had bled profusely, leaving many straight streaks of blood running down it.

She moved the flashlight downwards and saw more bloodstains on the ground, as if they had been dragged by a rag, moving in another direction.

Whose blood is this? Is it Chu Yi's or the head of the family? Judging from the age of the blood, it seems to be quite old, but she couldn't smell any blood.

She was so nervous that she leaned against the door, taking a few quick breaths. She wondered if she should go out and find some people to help, like Lin Qingfeng. At least Lin Qingfeng was a man and knew martial arts. He was much better than a weak woman like herself.

Just as I was pondering this, a loud bang came from the other side of the door behind me.

She didn't dare to look through the crack in the door, pressing her back against it as she asked, "Is that Mr. Jiang? What's wrong? Are you hurt?"

Suddenly, a large, blood-dripping hand reached out from the crack in the door, like a dark, ghostly claw, and grabbed her drooping sleeve.

She screamed and jumped back, struggling with all her might. The bloody hand only tore off a section of her sleeve, and then the other hand reached out as well, both hands stretched straight out, from which came a roar.

Su Wan had heard this voice many times before; it was coming from the Fifth Prince Chu Kai and his Ghost Army.

She was horrified and took two steps back. A head peeked out from the crack in the door, its hair standing on end, its skin as black as charcoal, the veins on its face bulging and crisscrossing like tree roots, and its crimson eyes staring intently at her.
