The White Walkers charged forward, but the exit door remained stubbornly locked.
What's most despairing is that this White Walker is immune to capsaicin. The potion he injected seems to be a modified and enhanced type, overcoming the White Walker's greatest weakness. She sprayed out an entire can of spray, and the only effect it had was to enrage the White Walker even more.
She pounded on the door a few times, but it didn't budge. She had no choice but to turn around and shield the cart behind her, using her body to block the White Walker and Wei Jingzhuo. Her body was taut like a bow, and she closed her eyes to avoid looking at the approaching White Walker.
The only thing she could think of at that moment was to shield Wei Jingzhuo with her body.
If the White Walkers attack, at least they won't harm their loved ones first.
The White Walker was charging towards Su Wan when he heard a loud thud behind him; something hard had hit him. He roared and turned around to see a metal doorknob lying on the ground, rolling down the corridor.
In front of the disinfection room, which was a complete mess, a person raised his hands and jumped up and down, shouting, "Master, come and chase me! Don't bully Madam Su!"
The White Walker seemed enraged, roared, and turned to chase after the man.
Hearing the familiar voice, Su Wan opened her eyes and exclaimed in surprise, "Brother Chu, thank God, please save us!"
There were only two people in the consultation room: Chu Yi and Jiang Yan, the head of a family of renowned physicians. Now that Chu Yi has emerged, the Otherworlder must be Jiang Yan.
Strangely, why would Jiang Yan inject herself with a secret drug in the consultation room?
Chu Yi picked up a shard of glass from the ground and threw it at the Otherworlder, enraging it as he retreated, shouting, "Madam Su, are you joking? How can I possibly deal with the head of the family? I'll distract him first, and you find a way to open the door and escape."
Su Wan shouted, "But I don't know the password to open the door."
Chu Yi threw a metal pipe, which hit the Otherworlder, and said, "The patriarch knows the password. Let me see if I can get him to tell me..."
The White Walker twisted the metal tube into a rope and threw it on the ground before lunging at Chu Yi.
Chu Yi said, "Uh, the patriarch obviously doesn't intend to tell me, Madam Su, I'll escape first."
He turned and ran through the water on the ground into the intact disinfection room on the other side. Jiang Yan charged in like a bull, smashing the other disinfection room to pieces.
Su Wan's heart pounded as she watched, until she heard Chu Yi's voice echo again from the depths of the corridor.
“Mrs. Su, he will come looking for you again. Find a way to make sure he can’t see you and doesn’t make a sound.”
Su Wan's mind was in complete turmoil.
How could she prevent Jiang Yan from seeing her and Wei Jingzhuo? She couldn't do magic tricks, so figuring out how to open the door was the most important thing right now.
She leaned close to the keyboard, carefully recalling how Jiang Wenpei had pressed the keys before.
Knowing she'd encounter such a terrifying monster upon entering, she'd have to memorize the password even if it took all her brain cells. She didn't pay much attention at the time, only remembering that Jiang Wenpei pressed 1 as the first key. She could also confirm the last two keys; it seemed like 2 then 3, or maybe 3 then 2.
This results in two main key combinations: 1XXX23 and 1XXX32.
If she tried every possible combination of numbers in the middle, she could definitely figure it out. The problem was whether Jiang Yan would give her that time.
She tried pressing it first, but it didn't work. She pressed it again, but it still didn't work.
Did Jiang Wenpei press 8 or 6 instead of 9?
...
If she had pressed the buttons calmly, she felt she should have figured it out in a few tries. The problem was, there was a terrifying monster here, ready to pounce and tear her to pieces at any moment. Just staying calm was no easy feat.
She pressed the number 8 and was about to try 6 when she heard the sound of rushing water coming from the corridor behind her.
Her body stiffened instantly, and she slowly turned her head to look behind her.
Jiang Yan seemed to have lost track of Chu Yi. She was wading through the bubbling water in the disinfection room, slowly walking around and looking around.
She didn't dare to make a sound, and slowly turned her head back.
Remember when she fought Chu Kai at Yanxun Pass? She repeatedly feigned death to evade his pursuit. Chu Kai was under the influence of stimulants and was mentally unstable. Jiang Yan was probably in the same situation. If she just stays still and acts like a wooden doll, wouldn't Jiang Yan stay away from her?
The idea only flashed through her mind briefly before she rejected it.
Even if she could stand here indefinitely, the seriously injured Wei Jingzhuo couldn't wait that long; he had to open the door and let Jiang Yan leave the treatment room.
But then I thought again, the people outside have no idea that a monster is imprisoned here. If we release Jiang Yan, everyone will be in danger. Then it won't just be a matter for the three of us.
After thinking it over, she decided to open the door.
One reason is that Wei Jingzhuo's injury cannot be delayed. Another reason is that the family of divine healers possesses many mysterious resources; perhaps besides stimulants and black armor, they have other things that can be used to fight ghosts and monsters.
There's an old saying: "The one who tied the knot must untie it." Perhaps Jiang Yan has already created a drug or weapon to subdue ghosts. If we could find it...
After deciding to open the door, the remaining issue was how to avoid Jiang Yan's attention. Jiang Yan hadn't chased after her yet because neither she nor Wei Jingzhuo had moved; if she did, Jiang Yan might notice her.
She glanced at the apartment, which was filled with eighty dowry chests, made of mahogany boards, neatly stacked, filling half the room. These were the chests she had brought into the apartment when she first transmigrated.
I have a solution.
She used her mind to move the dowry chests out of the apartment one by one, piling them up behind her like building blocks. The floor at the doorway where she was standing was flat, and in the blink of an eye, the dowry chests were piled up into a wall, separating her from Jiang Yan at the end of the corridor, leaving only a half-foot-wide gap in the ceiling and on the wall.
