Chapter 268 Forging Room

She felt a chill run down her spine, thinking that Chu Mingyao was still inside. Mustering her courage, she turned on her flashlight and walked along the passageway.

The storage room, which had been fortified, was now scattered all over the floor. Shelves used to store stimulants were piled up haphazardly, as if swept by a tornado. Some people lay on sandbags, others leaned against the walls, and limbs were scattered everywhere. The air was thick with the nauseating stench of blood.

Just as they were about to pass through the storeroom, a man leaning against the wall spoke weakly, "Goddess."

Su Wan quickly knelt down in front of the man and shone her flashlight on him. She saw that Jiang Yan had ripped open the man's abdomen. Even as a doctor, she was horrified by what she saw.

"What happened?" she asked.

The man said, "Manager Jiang... told us to go out and find you, but when we opened the door... the monster saw us."

After saying that, the man tilted his head to one side and closed his eyes.

Su Wan helped the man up and asked, "Are you saying that Manager Jiang is Jiang Shan? Then where is Sister Chu?"

The person was already dead. She stood up and continued walking down the corridor. Every ten steps or so, she saw a corpse, some sitting, some lying, each in a different way. She opened the corridor door, assuming Chu Mingyao would be hiding inside.

They opened several doors, but they were all empty. They opened another, only to find it locked from the inside.

Jiang Yan's roar came from the direction of the forging room. She wasn't worried and knocked on the door, saying, "Is someone inside? Open it quickly. I am the Goddess."

The door lock clicked, and the door slowly opened a crack, revealing the girl's terrified, tearful face.

This girl was one of the candidates for goddess. She recognized the girl who was brewing medicine for her and said, "You are Lian."

Lian opened the door and rushed into her arms, crying, "Goddess Sister!" Another girl also rushed up and burst into tears.

Su Wan patted the girls' heads to comfort them, just as Wei Jingzhuo had patted her. She could clearly feel their bodies trembling violently.

These girls were only thirteen or fourteen years old, living carefree lives in a family of renowned healers, and had never seen such a terrifying scene. It's no wonder they were so frightened. If she hadn't experienced fighting against the demon army, she probably wouldn't have fared much better than these two children.

After Lian calmed down a bit, she told Su Wan that when the White Walkers broke in, the Third Princess led everyone to escape towards the forge, and the two of them were the last to run and had no choice but to hide in this room.

While hiding in the room, she also heard a man calling "Third Sister" as he passed by the door.

Su Wan thought to herself, "So Brother Chu has come in too. He must be going to rescue Sister Chu and those girls. I can't stay any longer, I have to hurry over there."

She said to Lian, "I'm going to the forge. If you can walk around by yourselves, hurry to the treatment room; Guard Lin is there."

Lian shook her head and said, "Only the head of the family and the goddess can enter the consultation room."

Su Wan thought to herself, "Even with the situation so dire, you still haven't forgotten the rules of a family of divine healers."

She recalled the rituals she had performed on those blacksmiths, and took off the resurrection pendant, placing it on Lian's shoulder: "As a goddess, I allow you to enter the treatment room. Is that alright?"

Lian nodded timidly and said, "But...but the patriarch has to agree too."

Su Wan was both amused and exasperated, and hung the resurrection pendant back around her neck: "Patriarch Jiang only knows how to yell, he can't agree to your request. You two go quickly."

With only Jiang Yan wreaking havoc in the entire holy land, she wasn't worried about the two girls encountering danger if they went out. She handed the flashlight to Lian and told the two girls to leave as soon as possible.

Even after the girls left, she was still worried, so she opened every door along the way as she ran. Only after confirming that no one was hiding inside did she reach the door of the forge.

The forging room door was tightly shut, and inside came Jiang Yan's roar, the girls' panicked screams, and Chu Mingyao's exclamation.

"Seventh Brother, he's catching up!" Chu Mingyao's terrified voice rang out from inside. "Don't pick up the hammer! He's not afraid!"

Another girl screamed, "Your Highness, watch out for the molten iron!"

Su Wan remembered that at the end of the forging workshop was Jiang Yan's laboratory. Beyond that, the road ended.

Chu Mingyao and the other girls were trapped in the forging room, where Jiang Yan was chasing them. Chu Yi was likely dealing with Jiang Yan. Only Jiang Yan and the person wielding the Resurrection Pendant could open the laboratory.

She couldn't just stand by and watch these people die inside.

Just as she was about to press the switch, a large hand covered in black armor suddenly reached out from the side, grabbed her wrist, and forcefully lifted her hand up.

"Goddess, don't open the door." Jiang Shan's voice rang out from behind her.
