"Is it going to the capital?" Su Wan nodded. "That makes things easier."
At this moment, the Jiang brothers arrived at the door. Seeing Su Wan and Meng Ruliu holding hands, they lowered their guard. Su Wan then introduced the two sides.
When Meng Ruliu saw Jiang Wenpei, she was reminded of the tiger's obstruction and the ghost army, and felt unhappy. But since the two sides had already stopped fighting, she didn't bring it up again.
Su Wan told Meng Ruliu about going to the mountaintop, but Meng Ruliu was worried and led 500 Jin soldiers to protect her. Jiang Yan and Jiang Wenpei had to deal with matters concerning the sacred site, so they stayed at the residence and did not follow.
Jinhua Mountain soars into the clouds, and the sacred site of the family of divine healers is located halfway up the mountain, with a winding mountain road leading to the summit. Standing outside the gate of the sacred site and looking up, all you can see are swirling white clouds and mist.
Yesterday, from the moment she accompanied Wei Jingzhuo to meet the prince of Southern Chu, she had a harrowing experience. First, they encountered a flood, then they were chased by otherworldly ghosts, and finally she had a conversation with Zhang Ying. She barely had any rest and was panting after climbing for a short while.
Seeing that she was tired, Meng Ruliu picked her up without saying a word and carried her all the way to the top of the mountain before putting her down.
At the top of Jinhua Mountain was a flat open space. Su Wan stood there and looked around. All she could see was a sea of white clouds rolling in the sky. She felt as if she were standing on a small island in the sea of clouds, and she couldn't help but marvel.
She put the bamboo whistle to her lips and blew it as Zhang Ying had taught her.
Meng Ruliu, who was watching from the side, laughed and said, "Sister-in-law, are you asking Jiang Wenpei to teach you how to whistle so you can summon a tiger?"
Su Wan said, "It's not a tiger, that's strange... why isn't it responding?"
She puffed out her cheeks and blew again, then listened intently, but apart from the whistling wind, there was still no sound.
The five hundred soldiers behind them stood watching the spectacle. Military orders were strictly enforced, and no one dared to utter a sound. They just rolled their eyes around, looking up, down, left, and right, wondering what the outcome of the mistress's whistle would be.
Su Wan blew the horn three times, but there was no response. She was a little discouraged and said, "Maybe it's because I'm old and hard of hearing. Maybe it's not even here. Let's go back and try to get a boat."
She had just turned around when Meng Ruliu pointed behind her and said, "Sister-in-law, look!"
Su Wan quickly turned around. The sea of clouds in front of her seemed to be stirred by something, revealing a hole. A dark figure rushed straight up from the hole, and a strong wind rushed towards her, making it impossible for her to open her eyes.
Not only her, but the people behind her were also blown by the gust of wind and raised their hands to shield their eyes.
Once the strong winds subsided, Su Wan finally lowered her hand.
Before her appeared a giant black eagle, taller than an adult man by half a head. Its wingspan was four or five meters, almost like a small airplane, and it was staring at her with its yellowish-brown eyes.
Meng Ruliu exclaimed in amazement, "There are actually such large eagles in the world..."
The soldiers standing behind them also gaped in astonishment. Although they had all fought against monsters, this was the first time they had ever seen such a huge falcon.
Su Wan calmed down and stepped forward, saying, "Was it you who took my mother and flew away from here back then?"
The giant eagle seemed not to understand what she was saying, but simply folded its wings and looked down at her from above.
Ordinary eagles couldn't possibly be this large, nor could they carry humans in flight. This eagle was different; she could tell from experience that it had been injected with the Tracker drug.
Humans injected with the Tracker drug become incredibly powerful, comparable to monsters from mythology. This eagle should be the same. Its eyes haven't turned an abnormal color, indicating the drug is being administered at a controlled dosage.
She blew her whistle again, giving the command to the giant eagle. The giant eagle understood her meaning and crouched down.
“I need to familiarize myself with how to ride it first,” Su Wan said to the dumbfounded Meng Ruliu as she carefully sat on the back of the giant eagle. “I have never ridden on the back of an eagle before. Let it take a few steps first to see if it’s stable.”
Giant eagles aren't airplanes. If you try to ride one of these things into the sky, what if you lose your grip halfway and fall?
The best way to train her is to first let the giant eagle carry her a few steps like a free-range chicken, so that she can master her balance.
She put the whistle to her lips and blew it. The giant eagle raised its head and shrieked, then spread its wings and took off, carrying her in a half-circle in the air before swooping down to the mountaintop.
Hearing Su Wan's scream as she plummeted down the mountain like a shooting star, Meng Ruliu rushed forward, calling out, "Sister...Sister!" The soldiers behind her were also in a panic, drawing their weapons but unsure how to give chase.
Su Wan's scream went from high to low, then from low to high again, as the giant eagle carried Su Wan up again, circling and hovering above the mountaintop.
Meng Ruliu breathed a sigh of relief when she saw that Su Wan hadn't fallen. Upon closer inspection, she saw that Su Wan had completely lost her composure, with her arms and legs crossed, wrapped around the giant eagle's neck, and screaming with her eyes closed. She quickly shouted, "Make it fall down!"
Su Wan screamed, "I did make it walk!"
"Oh dear, it clearly doesn't want to walk. Why don't you get it to the ground first?"
"I dare not let go, I'm afraid I'll fall."
"But the whistle is on your wrist, how can you blow it if you don't let go?"
