A fully fattened pig only sells for around two ounces, and a piglet is lucky to sell for one ounce. The money the boy gave them was more than enough to buy five piglets.
He went to the pigsty, picked out two pigs that were three months old, each weighing about 100 jin (50 kg). He tied them with ropes, pulled them out of the pen, and returned to the front gate.
The boy did not enter the house; he was discussing matters concerning the military camp with Madam Dou.
Old Zhang handed the rope for leading the pig to the boy, and looked at him worriedly, saying, "Young master, don't you have any servants? You might not be able to hold it back."
The boy took the rope, wrapped it around his wrist twice, and held it tightly, saying, "I'll be fine on my own. Thank you, gentlemen. I'm leaving now."
Seeing that her husband had received five taels of silver, Madam Dou was also happy and smiled at the young man, saying, "Where are you staying, young master? How about we deliver it to you?"
The boy shook his head repeatedly, saying, "No need, I'll lead it over myself..."
After he finished speaking, he pulled hard on the two pigs, but they seemed to ignore him completely, standing still and refusing to move. The boy pulled the rope taut, his face turning red, but the two pigs, with their four hooves on the ground and their heads down, struggled but wouldn't budge.
Old Zhang couldn't bear to watch any longer and stepped forward, saying, "Young master, you don't have the strength in your hands, let this old man help you."
The boy laughed and said, "No need, you two old folks... Wow!"
Two pigs suddenly darted out, and the boy screamed as he was dragged away by them, his feet barely touching the ground.
Old Zhang and Dou were dumbfounded as they watched the boy outwit and outmaneuver the two pigs, pulling and tugging at them until they disappeared into the woods at the edge of the village. They couldn't help but look at each other in disbelief.
"What is he doing leading the pig into the woods?" Dou asked.
Old Zhang was also puzzled and was about to speak when he saw a gust of wind rise above the woods, causing the entire forest to sway.
His expression changed drastically. Thinking about how the boy had appeared in the middle of the night and fed his mount with pigs, he was terrified. He grabbed Dou and ran into the house, shouting, "Monster! It's a monster!"
Dou also thought a strange wind had blown through the woods, and she was so frightened that she ran into the house with Old Man Zhang and closed the door.
The woods swayed for a while, then returned to calm.
