Chapter 280 So happy

Just as Bai Zhiyi's dagger was halfway through its thrust, Xie Maoliang suddenly turned around, raised his hand, and grabbed Bai Zhiyi's wrists, which were bound by ropes. The gleaming dagger stopped three inches above Xie Maoliang's head.

Su Wan angrily clenched her fist, thinking to herself, "I didn't expect this guy to be so vigilant."

Xie Maoliang was, after all, a military general, so it was perfectly reasonable that Bai Zhiyi's sneak attack failed.

Bai Zhiyi seemed unwilling to give up; the veins on her wrist bulged as she tried to forcefully press the dagger down. Xie Maoliang sneered and grabbed Bai Zhiyi's wrist, lifting it upwards.

The difference in strength between the two was like the difference between a sheep and a tiger. Xie Maoliang easily lifted Bai Zhiyi's wrists with just one hand.

“Miss Bai, you’ve probably forgotten that I, Xie, am a military officer,” Xie Maoliang said, looking into Bai Zhiyi’s eyes. “Aren’t you disappointed? Hahaha.”

He grinned maliciously and tightened his fingers. Bai Zhiyi trembled, and the bones in her wrists cracked. The dagger fell to the ground between her forced-open fingers with a clink.

“Miss Bai actually hid a murder weapon in her mask,” Xie Maoliang kicked the dagger aside and laughed as he looked at the gap in Bai Zhiyi’s mask. “You tried to distract me by having me write a confession. Luckily, I already knew Miss Bai was capable. You almost succeeded.”

Bai Zhiyi let out a suppressed groan of pain, saying, "You killed His Highness, you killed my parents. I wish I could eat your flesh alive..."

Su Wan was greatly alarmed upon hearing this.

So, the Duke and Duchess Bai have already been killed by Xie Maoliang? They were just two old people, and they weren't a threat at all, so why did Xie Maoliang not even spare them?

"Don't even think about it."

After Xie Maoliang finished speaking contemptuously, he kicked Bai Zhiyi in the lower abdomen. Bai Zhiyi groaned and flew backward, crashing into the wall with a thud before collapsing to the ground.

Hearing the commotion inside, the soldiers outside opened the door and rushed in, only to find Bai Zhiyi groaning on the ground.

A soldier asked, "General, what happened?"

Xie Maoliang waved his hand and said, "It's alright. I'm punishing this criminal. You may leave."

After the soldiers withdrew, Xie Maoliang came to Bai Zhiyi, squatted down, grabbed her hair, and forced her to raise her face.

“That’s right, I killed Wei Jingzhuo, and I also killed your parents,” Xie Maoliang adjusted Bai Zhiyi’s clown mask. “I know you hate me to the bone, but unfortunately, no matter how much you hate me, you can’t even hurt a hair on my head.”

Bai Zhiyi remained silent, staring intently at him.

Su Wan watched with a heavy heart; Bai Zhiyi truly had no way to deal with Xie Maoliang. Xie Maoliang was a military general, and ordinary people simply couldn't get close to him, let alone have a defensive gun protecting them.

Xie Maoliang laughed and said, "If I gave you another dagger, would you still try to kill me?"

Bai Zhiyi replied, "Yes."

Xie Maoliang sneered, grabbed Bai Zhiyi by the hair, stood up, and dragged her directly to the desk. Bai Zhiyi struggled a few times, but was still dragged to the desk.

Xie Maoliang swept the paper, pens, and inkstone off the desk and then grabbed Bai Zhiyi's wrists, pinning them to the desk.

“Miss Bai, you’re putting me in a difficult position,” he said to Bai Zhiyi. “I’m hoping to get a reward for taking you with me, so I don’t dare kill you. But you’re determined to kill me. So how can I let you know that I’m not someone to be trifled with?”

Bai Zhiyi said coldly, "Don't give me a chance."

Xie Maoliang said, "Of course, I want to become a Marquis within the Pass and enjoy wealth and honor, so why would I give you that opportunity?"

He drew his sword from his waist and slashed at Bai Zhiyi's wrist.

Su Wan instinctively raised her hand to cover her eyes, and heard the dull sound of a sharp blade cutting into wood, followed by Bai Zhiyi's scream.

She opened her eyes and saw Bai Zhiyi staggering backward, letting out desperate screams. Blood gushed from her severed wrist, splattering all over the desk and floor.

Xie Maoliang, holding up his blood-stained longsword, raised his hands, which were bound by rope, and said, "Without hands, you can't hold a dagger anymore, haha."

Su Wan felt dizzy and her wrists started to hurt.

Bai Zhiyi trembled and fell to the ground, seemingly fainting from the pain. Blood was still gushing from her two severed wrists, forming a large pool beneath her body.

"Someone come here," Xie Maoliang said.

Several soldiers opened the door and entered, saying, "General."

"Stop the bleeding, but don't let her bleed to death," Xie Maoliang said. "Otherwise, all my efforts will have been in vain."

The soldiers squatted down in front of Bai Zhiyi. One of them lifted her arm, while another tied her forearm with a cloth strip. He turned to Xie Maoliang and said, "General, the cut on her wrist is too big. I'm afraid the medicine powder won't be able to stop the bleeding."

Xie Maoliang said, "Idiot, use a soldering iron."

A soldier turned and went out.

Bai Zhiyi groaned and woke up, her voice trembling as she said, "Xie Maoliang, I will definitely kill you."

Xie Maoliang placed both palms on the table, walked up to Bai Zhiyi, and said, "Then this general will cut off your feet, gouge out your tongue, and blind you. Want revenge? Hahaha, forget about it for the rest of your life."

Bai Zhiyi said, "Even if I become a demon, I will still take your life."

Xie Maoliang laughed heartily, stood up and said, "Even if you become a demon, you can't do anything to me, Xie."

The soldier entered the room carrying two red-hot branding irons, and Xie Maoliang nodded to the soldier.

A soldier held up Bai Zhiyi's severed wrist, while another soldier with a branding iron pressed the red-hot iron against the wrist. The wrist sizzled and emitted a wisp of white smoke. Bai Zhiyi screamed and fainted again.

Regardless of whether she lived or died, the two soldiers branded her other severed wrist, filling the room with the smell of burning flesh.
