"Miss, aren't you tired?"
"Not tired."
"Miss, why don't we rest for a bit and enjoy the scenery? Look at this blue sky and these white clouds."
"Xiaoju, this is the grassland."
"Miss, you...you've gone too far. I'm angry."
"Hehe, I'm so happy."
"Bai Zhiyi, are you ever going to stop?" Su Wan slammed her fist into Bai Zhiyi's back. "What if it gets angry and refuses to fly if you keep pulling like this?"
Bai Zhiyi turned around with a few black feathers tucked between her arms and laughed, "Xiao Ju, you're so silly. This is clearly a flower. Flowers can fly, right?"
"Look closely, you're on the back of an eagle... never mind."
Su Wan rubbed her hand; the blow felt like hitting a steel plate. Bai Zhiyi was fine, but Su Wan was in excruciating pain.
He was just too kind-hearted; he couldn't bear to see Bai Zhiyi being carried away by the giant eagle, so he let her sit on the eagle's back with him.
Of course, there was also a selfish reason. It was windy and cold at high altitudes, and having Bai Zhiyi sit in front of her would shield her from the wind. Bai Zhiyi had taken a secret medicine, so her body was very strong; she wouldn't catch a cold no matter how strong the wind was.
Little did they know that sitting down would lead to trouble.
Bai Zhiyi didn't go mad after waking up, but she was still mentally confused. The only thing she remembered was that she had to see Wei Jingzhuo, and she also developed a strange quirk: plucking eagle feathers. No matter how Su Wan tried to persuade her, she wouldn't listen, insisting that these were flowers and that she wanted to make a wreath for His Highness.
She had no hands, but her two arms were like pliers, clamping down on several feathers at a time. Su Wan was afraid of angering the giant eagle, so she tried to persuade her with all sorts of words, both gentle and forceful, but Bai Zhiyi ignored her completely.
When the sun rose, Su Wan saw that all the feathers on the giant eagle's neck had been plucked, turning it into a vulture wearing a hat.
This infuriated Su Wan.
This giant eagle carried her mother away from the holy land years ago. Now it's carrying her again, which holds great significance for her. She even plans to give the eagle a beautiful name, one with a religious connotation…
She could only console herself. At least Bai Zhiyi hadn't turned into a White Walker. Once they reached the Holy Land, they'd quickly throw this guy down there.
Bai Zhiyi said, "These flowers should be enough."
She loosened her grip, and the feathers were immediately swept behind her by the gust of wind. She looked back and said, "The flower flew to His Highness."
Su Wan removed the feathers from her eyes and threw them away, saying, "Miss, have you had enough fun? We're almost at the General's Mansion."
Bai Zhiyi said, "No rush, pick some more."
She touched and poked at the giant eagle's bald neck with both arms, but couldn't find any feathers to pluck. Turning her head, she saw the giant eagle's outstretched wings and reached out to grab them.
Su Wan was startled. Bai Zhiyi had plucked all the feathers from the giant eagle's neck. Luckily, the giant eagle was good-natured and didn't hold it against her. If she had plucked all the feathers from its wings, wouldn't the giant eagle have fallen off the sky?
Bai Zhiyi is as tough as steel; she could smash a huge crater in the ground and it wouldn't matter. She can't do that.
We're almost at Jinhua Mountain anyway, so we need to fly faster. She blew her whistle, wrapped her arms tightly around Bai Zhiyi's waist, and called out, "Miss, hold on tight, the carriage is about to speed up."
The giant eagle let out a cry, folded its wings, and plunged down into the sea of clouds like an arrow.
Breaking through the clouds, the earth rushes towards us: fields laid out like a chessboard, lush forests stretching as far as the eye can see, and a yellowish-brown band of floodwaters.
The giant eagle spread its wings and soared again hundreds of meters above the ground.
“Look, so many houses,” Bai Zhiyi said, pointing down. “They actually built their houses in the water.”
Su Wan glanced to the side and saw a village completely submerged by the flood. Hundreds of houses had not collapsed, with their roofs visible above the water. People were standing on some of the roofs: elderly people with canes, young children, and women holding babies. The scene was one of utter despair.
Dozens of small boats shuttled across the water, rescuing disaster victims.
Some people saw the giant eagle in the sky, knelt down and kowtowed to it, chanting something she couldn't understand. More and more people began to kowtow, even those on the small boats knelt down before the giant eagle, prostrating themselves as if worshipping a god.
“Xiaoju, these people are unhappy,” Bai Zhiyi said. “I heard them crying.”
"I saw it."
Who caused this?
Su Wan was silent for a moment, then said, "It's me."
She realized that Bai Zhiyi's words suggested she was regaining her senses, which meant the medicine was about to wear off. She poked Bai Zhiyi's back with her finger, but there was no sign of her returning to normal.
Bai Zhiyi said, "I hate water. Quickly get rid of the water so everyone can be happy."
Su Wan looked at Jinhua Mountain in the distance and said, "I don't know how to get the floodwaters back. This isn't something I can solve by myself."
She agreed with Bai Zhiyi; they should indeed try to get the floodwaters back. However, since the capital of Southern Chu was flooded, they couldn't really count on the Southern Chu court to do much. They would have to ask Zhang Ying for advice.
Bai Zhiyi said, "Let's go ask His Highness. His Highness is the wisest man in the world."
"Why ask Ah Jin?" Su Wan retorted instinctively, "He's still unconscious."
Bai Zhiyi turned her head and glared at her, saying, "That's very rude. How many times have I told you not to address His Highness like that?"
Su Wan had no choice but to say, "Yes, Your Highness."
She coaxed Bai Zhiyi, causing the giant eagle to fly to the entrance of the Holy Land Clinic and land there, leading Bai Zhiyi inside.
Zhang Ying was waiting for them in the lab. She was also surprised to see Bai Zhiyi and asked, "Her hands were amputated, and she had a big hole in her stomach from a defensive gun. How did she survive... Oh, you injected her with the Tracker drug?"
Bai Zhiyi ignored the two of them and continued knocking on the glass wall, muttering to herself, "Strange, why can't I get through?"
