"So this is where the defensive gun hit," she said, pressing the spot. It felt exactly like normal skin, except for being a little darker in color. It seemed to have really healed.
Only then was she completely relieved and rearranged her clothes.
“Lin Qingfeng told me,” Wei Jingzhuo said, putting his arm around her waist, “that day you brought me here for treatment, but we encountered ghosts. You really suffered; these things shouldn’t be your burden…”
Su Wan reached out and pressed her finger to Wei Jingzhuo's lips: "It's okay, it's what I want to do, I'm willing."
Wei Jingzhuo didn't say anything more, but hugged her tightly and said, "It's all over, let's go back to the capital."
Su Wan laughed and said, "You're too hasty. We still need to sign an agreement with Brother Chu. He ascended the throne two days ago. Now that the floodwaters are receding, let's go into the city first to finish our business before returning to the capital."
“Since you are a goddess,” Wei Jingzhuo frowned slightly, “would he still make demands of you?”
“No way,” Su Wan wrinkled her nose playfully. “I’m a great hero who helped the Holy Land get rid of the Others and just solved the flood. They’re too grateful to thank me… Besides, the head of the Jiang family, a family of divine healers, also told Brother Chu that this time the situation is special and there’s no need for a marriage alliance with the goddess.”
"Special circumstances?" Wei Jingzhuo asked doubtfully. "Isn't this a rule that all emperors of Southern Chu have had to follow? Why does even the family of divine physicians say it's unnecessary?"
Su Wan said, "Of course it's because of my great contribution. Both families will definitely respect my decision. I'll go back to the capital with you, and none of them will dare to stop me."
Wei Jingzhuo said coldly, "I'll go to the capital of Southern Chu and ask Chu Yi. If he still dares to bother you..."
“Just ask, don’t be so cold,” Su Wan said, using two fingers to push up Wei Jingzhuo’s lips. “Smile. You’re always so cold-faced, it scares everyone away.”
“Ah Wan is right,” Wei Jingzhuo smiled. “I’ll just ask him with a smile.”
Su Wan smiled and gave him a push, saying, "You... come on, I'll take you flying to the capital of Southern Chu."
How could I not let my husband experience such a magical and wonderful thing as flying?
"That big bird flying in the sky, is it an eagle? I've never seen such a big eagle before..."
"Haha, it's been injected with the secret medicine. Ordinary eagles can't carry people. Come on."
She excitedly pulled Wei Jingzhuo towards the main gate of the sacred site, through the moon gate, across the long corridor, and past the artificial hill. People came and went, and everyone who saw them made way for them, bowing respectfully.
A group of girls dressed in white robes were squatting in front of the artificial hill, teasing two magpies. They were candidates for goddesses.
One of the girls was from out of town, and she was older than the other girls, about sixteen or seventeen years old. Her name was Xiao Yi.
Her figure was graceful and elegant. Her hair, like jet-black satin, cascaded down her shoulders, and her skin was as smooth as a peeled egg. Her exquisite face was flawless, with a delicate nose, cherry lips, and eyebrows as if painted. Especially striking were her lowered, bright eyes, clear and pure, without a trace of impurity. She could truly be described as peerless in beauty and grace.
She was stretching out her slender, delicate hand, her nails like pink pearls, her ten slender fingers like green onions, stroking the magpie's back.
"Look! It's the goddess and her husband!" a girl exclaimed first.
The girls all stood up and cheered for Su Wan and Wei Jingzhuo as they ran towards them. The goddess Su Wan had not only saved the people of Southern Chu, but all of them, the aspiring goddesses, had been saved from the clutches of the Otherworldly demons thanks to her. They were all deeply grateful to Su Wan.
The older girls didn't shout; they just stared blankly at Wei Jingzhuo's back.
"Sister Xiaoyi, what's wrong?" The girl beside her nudged her with her elbow. "Have you met His Highness the Crown Prince of the Great Jin Dynasty before? The way you look at him seems so familiar."
The girl shook her head and smiled, saying, "No, I've never seen one before. Let's not look anymore, let's feed the magpies."
