Su Wan left the wooden house and returned to the beach to inspect the island.
The soft sand was covered with colorful seashells; it felt like you could easily fill a whole bag. There were also small fish hopping around, walking on the sand with their fins, and we even encountered a large sea turtle.
When the sea turtle saw her approaching, it quickly pushed sand with slow movements, trying to cover the eggs beneath it.
Normally, Su Wan would definitely want to tease the sea turtle. But right now, she wanted to find the owner of the cabin first, and walk past the sea turtle.
I walked around the island for five or six miles without seeing a soul. However, I did see a large pile of broken trees on the north side of the island.
She returned to the shore where she had landed. Exhausted, she found a dry spot to sit down, rubbing her aching legs and looking around.
The giant eagle didn't stop in front of us; we don't know where it flew off to.
There are no ships on this island. If the giant eagle flies away, won't I be trapped on this small island?
She was panicking when suddenly a dark shadow fell from the sky and landed with a thud on the beach in front of her. It startled her so much she almost jumped up.
The thing landed on the beach and began to thrash about, scattering sand everywhere. Su Wan looked closely and realized it was a large tuna with a blue back and silver belly, probably weighing several dozen kilograms and almost as long as her leg. There were several wounds on its body, as if it had been scratched.
Looking up at the sky, she saw a giant eagle spreading its wings, blocking out the sunlight and filling her mouth with wind.
It turned out the giant eagle hadn't left; it had gone to catch fish for her.
She suddenly burst into tears. As soon as the giant eagle landed, she rushed up and hugged its bald neck: "Don't go. If you leave, I'll be all alone."
She couldn't bear to be left here alone.
The giant eagle ignored her and, seeing the large tuna leaping further and further toward the sea, simply swung its claw and pinned the fish to the spot, nodding to her in acknowledgment.
Su Wan observed for a moment and said, "You're telling me to eat this fish? I understand."
She was also hungry, so she took a small knife from the apartment and cut off a large piece of fish. She had eaten sashimi before and knew that tuna was very delicious and could be eaten raw. She washed the fish with a bottle of purified water, cut it into large slices, and put a slice in her mouth.
"Grandpa Eagle, why did you bring me here?" She had no interest in tasting the fish and asked the giant eagle, "Who exactly told you to bring me here?"
The giant eagle ignored her, picked up the tuna with its beak, and swallowed it in a few swift movements. Then it flew into the air.
Fearing the giant eagle would fly away, Su Wan stood up and followed it closely. When she saw the giant eagle land at the pond next to the wooden house, she chased after it.
When she arrived at the cabin, the giant eagle was already perched by the pond, its head tucked behind its wings as if asleep. She felt somewhat relieved and went back into the cabin.
Lying in bed, she racked her brains. The giant eagle had brought her here, clearly wanting to know there was an island. This meant the giant eagle had definitely been here before, and the hut on the island could only have been built by someone. Why so many claw marks on the wooden planks…that's it.
She tiptoed out of the house and came to the giant eagle. She compared the size of the eagle's claws with her fingers, then came to the wooden house and compared the marks on the wooden planks. The size and distance matched perfectly.
The person who arrived on a giant eagle used it to break trees, make planks, and build this wooden house. Whoever this person was, he didn't stay on the island. Because if he had stayed, he wouldn't have been able to understand what happened at Huishan, nor would he have been able to get the giant eagle to save them.
The person who ordered the giant eagle to bring her here was also the one who built this wooden house and secretly followed her the whole time.
Suddenly enlightened, she went back inside and began to carefully search the entire house.
Since that person left Meng Ruliu behind with the giant eagle, yet brought her here, there must be a reason. And if there is a reason, it won't remain hidden.
She searched the house from the outside but found nothing unusual. Then she lay down on the floor and saw a sealed earthenware jar under the bed.
She took the jar out, sat on the edge of the bed, and removed the mud sealing it, revealing a roll of paper inside. It had been specially sealed in the jar to prevent the sea breeze from damaging the paper.
She took out the paper and unfolded it, revealing rows of neat and gentle handwriting.
The first sentence is: Su Wan, thank you for giving me life.
It is Bai Zhiyi.
As expected, it wasn't Zhang Ying or Jiang Wenpei; the only one who could come up with this idea was Bai Zhiyi.
Bai Zhiyi wasn't around, so she couldn't get angry and could only continue watching.
"After I was reborn, the first time I saw His Majesty's back, I knew that even if you took back all the life essence, you could not take away my feelings for His Majesty. I also know that you saved me, and I should not try to steal your lover. But apart from His Majesty, I can no longer feel even the slightest attraction to any other man."
Su Wan sighed and said, "This person... really."
She had once asked Zhang Ying if Bai Zhiyi would lose all her memories if all of Bai Zhiyi's life essence were taken away. Zhang Ying had told her definitively that she would. She felt that losing one's memories meant death, and asked Zhang Ying to try to preserve them.
Zhang Ying did a great job. Bai Zhiyi not only retained her memories, but also her methods. She even managed to find out information about the life factors.
"I tried to escape all of this and had the Eagle King bring me to this island, intending to live out my days in solitude. However, my feelings for His Majesty are like a dagger churning in my heart day and night, and I can't bear it. It's not scary to like someone, what's scary is when you find that you can't give him up at all, that your life belongs to that person. I'm like a moth, knowing that the fire will burn me to death, I still can't control myself from flying towards it."
