The scimitar guards followed Chu Yi out of the Jin army camp. To remain hidden, none of them rode horses. They quietly approached the right rear foot of the Cancer in the rain.
Previously, Chu Yi had only viewed the crab from a distance, but now, standing at the foot of the giant crab and looking up, he could see that the giant crab's single silver-white metal foot was almost touching the sky, so enormous that it was terrifying.
The gap was more than ten feet above the ground. Chu Yi leaped first, using the metal surface for leverage, then jumped up again, grabbing the edge of the crevice and climbing inside. The Curved Blade Guards, all experts at scaling walls and ridges, followed him into the gap one by one.
There were no lights inside. A guard with a curved sword lit a tinderbox and looked around. He saw that there were metal walls all around, and a metal ladder not far ahead led up to the top.
Chu Yi took the lead, slowly climbing up the ladder step by step, with the rest of the scimitar guards following behind.
They moved very carefully, without making a sound.
After climbing up for more than ten zhang (approximately 33 meters), the space suddenly opened up before them—a large room. From behind the four walls of the room came the sound of gears grinding together. Judging from the enormous sound, the gears seemed to be much larger than a person.
One of the guards with a scimitar said softly, "Your Majesty, based on the height we've climbed, this should be where the monster's joints are located."
Chu Yi nodded and said, "Jin Zhi is right. This place leads directly to the monster's body. Let's split up and take a look."
The group looked around the room. Strange, transparent glass panes were embedded in the walls, behind which lines of incomprehensible writing shimmered. No one understood their purpose. Out of caution, no one touched them.
There is a door at the far end of the room, and a keyboard next to the door.
Chu Yi immediately understood when he saw the door. No wonder the people from the Holy Land ignored this gap; there was a door blocking the way. They couldn't get to Cancer's body without opening the door.
When he was healing in the holy land, Jiang Yan had told him the password to open the door. He guessed that this one should be the same, requiring six numbers.
He first tried pressing the password Jiang Yan had given him, but there was no response. He tried two more, but still nothing happened.
When everyone saw that he couldn't open the door, they all gathered around to offer suggestions.
A guard with a scimitar said, "Your Majesty, would you like to try 0?"
Chu Yi asked, "Why this number?"
"This number is our Southern Chu era name plus the month and day of my birth."
Chu Yi pressed the buttons in order and said, "No, try another one."
"Your Majesty, why don't you try mine? Mine is 0, which is my wife's and my birthday."
"Eight digits is definitely not enough, it must be six digits."
"Your Majesty, what about this? My grandfather's age plus my father's age plus mine."
"No, change it again."
They tried several passwords, but none of them worked. While everyone was racking their brains for a new one, Chu Yi drew his curved sword and said, "What if we just cleaved the door open with the sword?"
His knife originally came from a family of renowned physicians; it could cut through iron like mud, and even the invulnerable Jiang Li couldn't withstand it. It might even be able to cut a hole in a door.
Just as he was about to try, he suddenly heard voices coming from behind the door. Chu Yi quickly waved his hand, signaling the scimitar guards to stand concealed against the walls on either side of the door. He himself retreated to the side of the door and listened intently.
A man behind the door said, "The Emperor of Great Jin is really bold, actually coming with the Goddess."
Another woman's voice rang out, "Let's not worry about it anymore, let's fix the damage first."
“We’re all guards, how could we possibly repair this? Only the Creator could repair it, and he’s talking to the goddess right now… If you ask me, I’d rather not do anything. As long as no one comes in. Besides, if someone forces their way in, the alarm will go off.”
“That makes sense, but the Creator said we should repair the damage. Wouldn’t it be better not to?”
Chu Yi's heart skipped a beat; the two who arrived were his pursuers. They had said that breaking down the door would trigger an alarm, and thankfully he hadn't done so.
It seems that forcing our way in won't work unless we know the door's password.
He had already witnessed the terrifying nature of the pursuers in the battle between Wei Jingzhuo and Jiang Li. He hadn't expected two to arrive at once. If they opened the door and came in, he could protect himself with his treasured sword, but his scimitar guards would likely perish here.
That's not the most important thing. If his exposure puts Wei Jingzhuo and Su Wan in danger, it would be too much of a loss.
He waved to the Scimitar Guards, signaling them to retreat along the ladder.
Fortunately, the two trackers didn't intend to come in; they chatted through the door, allowing them to successfully retreat to the bottom and leave Cancer.
