Chapter 326 A Whole Day of Memories

Su Wan and Zhang Ying faced each other again through the glass wall.

Zhang Ying was no different from when they last met, wearing a blue bodysuit. But this time she wasn't alone; Wei Jingzhuo was by her side.

“Zhang Ying, you lied to me,” Su Wan said. “This is not the medical laboratory you described; it’s a war machine.”

There's no such thing as a medical laboratory equipped with two cannons.

Since Zhang Ying lied to her about this, it's highly likely that everything else she said was also false.

“You actually have the leisure to pay attention to these things?” Zhang Ying sat in a swivel chair, her hands on the armrests, her legs crossed, and swiveled the chair from side to side. “Why don’t you take a look at the display screen of the life factor extraction device first?”

Su Wan turned her gaze to the monitor in the corner of the room. On the black screen, the size of a 60-inch television, lines of green code of varying lengths kept moving upwards. She couldn't understand the code, but she could make out the most prominent number in the center of the screen.

The numbers are counting down precisely by the second.

“I checked, there are less than ten days left,” Su Wan replied.

Once this number reaches zero, her life will end. Perhaps even before that time, her bodily functions will no longer be able to support the operation of her organs.

Wei Jingzhuo stood to her right, holding her right hand with his left, also looking at the numbers on the screen.

His hand gripped her tightly because he was nervous, and it hurt her a little.

"Zhang Ying, what are your conditions for letting A-Wan go?" Wei Jingzhuo looked at Zhang Ying through the glass wall. Su Wan had no doubt that if it weren't for the glass wall, even if he only had his left hand, he would tear Zhang Ying to pieces.

She specifically told Wei Jingzhuo when she entered the room that Zhang Ying's room was indestructible and that he should not act rashly.

Wei Jingzhuo was a man who could control himself; he could suppress his near-volcanic rage and keep his face calm.

Zhang Ying shook her head and said, "Wei Jingzhuo, you are a smart man. You faked the renovation of the Star Gazing Platform and had the soldiers disguised as laborers. I was indeed fooled by you. But this question is too stupid."

Wei Jingzhuo said, "As long as you let Awan go, I will agree to anything you ask."

Su Wan sighed and rested her head on Wei Jingzhuo's shoulder.

The man made a vow and followed her into Cancer. At this moment, she didn't need to say anything more.

Zhang Ying covered her mouth and laughed, "You'll agree to anything I ask? I want your throne, and I'll make sure you live a life of poverty, with you and Su Wan toiling in the fields under the scorching sun, exhausted like dogs every day, your skin tanned dark, and everyone looking down on you..."

Before she could finish speaking, Wei Jingzhuo said, "I agree."

Su Wan thought it would be wonderful if that were true; her greatest wish was to live an ordinary life with Wei Jingzhuo. However, Zhang Ying would never agree to that; she was just teasing Wei Jingzhuo.

Sure enough, Zhang Ying laughed even harder, bending over backwards in her chair as if she had heard the biggest joke ever.

After she had finished laughing, she pushed herself up from the chair and leisurely walked to the opposite side of Wei Jingzhuo: "That's why I said you're too stupid. Do you think I'd even look at what you consider good?"

“What do you possess? Nothing more than power, wealth, subjects… enjoying the life of ordering subordinates around, being worshipped by everyone, and spending money like water,” Zhang Ying said. “But what I possess is immortality, the immortality that everyone dreams of pursuing.”

Su Wan had to admit that Zhang Ying's cloning technology was indeed the most tempting.

No matter how much power or wealth a person possesses, it will all vanish after their death. The wealth and status they once had will be transferred to others; at best, their children will inherit it, but they certainly won't get any themselves.

"In your time, people had already achieved immortality, right?" she couldn't help but ask. "Then why did you come to this ancient world?"

Zhang Ying previously said she came to study ancient times to write a thesis, but who would pilot a combat mech to ancient times to write a thesis?

Zhang Ying seemed unwilling to answer the question, and said to Wei Jingzhuo, "I only need to absorb Su Wan's life force, and then I will leave this world. Don't think that I like to stay here."

She glanced back at the hibernation pod: "In a sense, we are the same. You have people you love, and I have people I love."

Su Wan tugged at Wei Jingzhuo's hand and said, "A-Jin, don't talk to Zhang Ying anymore."

Arguing is pointless and won't force either side to yield. If a result is reached, it can only be if both sides agree on mutually satisfactory terms. Currently, Zhang Ying is in a position of absolute power, and no outcome is possible.

Wei Jingzhuo seemed to understand all of this and fell silent.

Zhang Ying said, "Alright, let's get down to business. Su Wan, I called you over not to chat about everyday things."

Su Wan nodded: "Go on."

“As you can see, Wei Jingzhuo mobilized so many troops, wounded my trackers, and forced me to activate the mech warriors,” Zhang Ying said. “I don’t want things to get complicated, so I plan to end this factor extraction immediately.”

Su Wan's heart skipped a beat, and she asked, "Is it going to end soon?"

Zhang Ying said, "Let me put it simply. The third extraction speed is not the fastest. I can also overload the extraction device to speed it up tenfold."

Su Wan said, "If we speed it up tenfold, that means there's only one day left..."

Zhang Ying walked to the control panel, pressed a few buttons, and the ceiling above Su Wan's head opened, lowering the helmet of the robotic arm.

“Overloading will damage the life factor extraction device, but I won’t need it for long anyway,” Zhang Ying said. “At that time, your life factors will float around in this space like dust, and this helmet will suck them up like a vacuum cleaner. So this extraction requires a very close connection, which is why I brought you here.”
