Chapter 329 A Desperate Gamble

Su Wan stood on the edge of the giant crab's body in front, having just boarded the giant eagle with Wei Jingzhuo.

From afar came Zhang Ying's angry shouts: "I'm going to kill you all!"

Hearing Zhang Ying's shout, Su Wan turned around and saw Zhang Ying chasing after her with a defensive gun. Startled, she quickly put her whistle to her mouth and blew it. The giant eagle spread its wings and leaped down from the edge of the giant crab's body, beginning to glide towards the Jin army camp.

Seeing Meng Ruliu leading over a hundred cavalrymen galloping towards her from afar, Su Wan happily turned to Wei Jingzhuo behind her and shouted.

"It's my sworn sister. She's led the cavalry to pick us up."

The giant eagle had only glided down about twenty meters when a whistle sounded in the sky. The eagle cried out, turned, flapped its wings, and began to fly back.

This really scared Su Wan. This was the first time the giant eagle had disobeyed her whistle.

She looked up and saw Zhang Ying holding a defensive pistol in one hand and a whistle to her lips in the other. She actually had a hawk-controlling whistle too. Moreover, hers seemed to have stronger control, and the giant hawk was more obedient to her commands.

Judging from Zhang Ying's crazy appearance, if she were to fly back, she wouldn't even need to open her mouth before being riddled with bullets by the defense guns.

Su Wan quickly put the whistle in her mouth and used the strongest command she knew.

This command is of the highest level, requiring the giant eagle to immediately and unconditionally release her. It is used when the giant eagle is injured, near death, or out of control.

Upon hearing the command, the giant eagle circled once in the air and began to descend to the ground. Zhang Ying stood at the edge of the giant crab's body and fired dozens of shots at them, but the distance was too great, and the green light disappeared far away from the giant eagle.

When the giant eagle was still several meters above the ground, Wei Jingzhuo grabbed her waist and leaped into the air, landing with her on the rain-soaked ground.

"Run!" Su Wan shouted, pulling Wei Jingzhuo along as they raced towards the Jin army camp.

“Don’t even think about running away,” Zhang Ying called the giant eagle back with her whistle, “I will definitely kill you all.”

Su Wan started panting heavily after only a few steps. Bai Zhiyi had returned the life-giving factor to her, and her spirits had recovered considerably, but her muscles had atrophied for many days and simply couldn't withstand such strenuous exercise. The fact that she had endured so long, from inside the Cancerian shell to the outside world, was entirely due to her will to survive.

Seeing that Su Wan couldn't run anymore, and that Zhang Ying had already boarded the giant eagle at the top of the Cancer, with the eagle spreading its wings and about to pounce on the two below, Meng Ruliu on the opposite side was extremely anxious.

Fearing that Xuehua might not be able to catch up in time, she leaped off her horse, grabbed her armor-piercing spike, patted Xuehua, and shouted, "Quick, go save your master!"

Snowflakes, a magnificent steed, had long spotted Su Wan and Wei Jingzhuo in the distance. With a long neigh, it spurred its four hooves and galloped past the other cavalrymen like lightning, splashing water all the way, until it reached Su Wan and Wei Jingzhuo.

Wei Jingzhuo carried Su Wan and leaped onto his horse. Su Wan shook the reins and said, "Run!"

Just as the snowflakes began to fall, a row of green lights descended from behind the two, burning seven or eight holes in the ground. Then, a huge black shadow swept past overhead.

"God help us," Su Wan said, "please don't hit me and Ajin."

She galloped away on her horse for a while, when Wei Jingzhuo shouted from behind, "Awan, she's flying down again."

Su Wan looked back and saw the giant eagle with its wings spread and its two huge talons reaching down on Xuehua. She pulled the reins to the left, and Xuehua swerved sharply to the left, causing the giant eagle's talons to miss.

Zhang Ying, seemingly unwilling to give up, raised her defensive gun and aimed it at Xuehua just as the giant eagle was side by side with her.

"Quickly, lie down." Wei Jingzhuo pressed her head down with his large hand, making her lie on the side of the horse's neck.

A row of green light swept across the heads of the two, and the giant eagle carried Zhang Ying as it spread its wings and flew into the sky once again.

"That was close," Su Wan straightened up, "Is A-Jin alright?"

“It’s alright, the cavalry is here,” Wei Jingzhuo said. “We shouldn’t stop, we should charge into the camp.”

Meng Ruliu's cavalry passed by the two men, and the cavalrymen took out their longbows, nocked arrows, and shot at the giant eagle in the sky.

Dozens of arrows struck the giant eagle's belly and wings, but to no avail.

Zhang Ying ignored the cavalry and focused solely on controlling the giant eagle to chase after Su Wan and Wei Jingzhuo, as if she would not stop until she killed them.

The snowflakes were very agile, and the giant eagle could not grab them directly, so Zhang Ying switched to shooting them with her defensive gun.

Su Wan knew that defensive guns had to be fired at close range. When the giant eagle swooped down, Wei Jingzhuo would warn her, and she was always able to maneuver the snowflake to the side in time. In addition, Zhang Ying's aim on the giant eagle was not accurate enough, allowing Su Wan to dodge twice, which infuriated Zhang Ying.

Soon, the snowflakes rushed to Meng Ruliu's side.

"Sister-in-law, help me!" Su Wan cried out. "That woman has completely gone mad."

Meng Ruliu stood with her feet apart, gripping the armor-piercing awl in her right hand, and shouted, "Sister, go first, I'll stop her."

"good."

Su Wan galloped past Meng Ruliu on horseback, creating a gust of wind that made Meng Ruliu's red cloak flutter.

Meng Ruliu looked up and saw a giant eagle, tens of feet in the air, spreading its wings and swooping down towards her. Arrows flew wildly through the air, but they had no effect on the giant eagle.

She weighed the armor-piercing spike in her hand and changed to a javelin grip.

The giant eagle swooped down even closer, now more than ten feet away from her.

She raised her right hand, aimed the armor-piercing cone at the swooping giant eagle, ran a few steps forward, and like a javelin, swung her right arm forward, sending the heavy armor-piercing cone whistling through her fingers.

Zhang Ying thought the Jin army's arrows couldn't harm him, so he didn't let the giant eagle dodge at all.

Seeing Su Wan ride past Meng Ruliu on horseback, Meng Ruliu raised a heavy iron spear and aimed it at the giant eagle, but she didn't care.
