Chapter 37 A Wife Whose Name Is Rightfully Belongs

Su Wan knew they were going to the General's Mansion to pay respects to Wei Jingzhuo's maternal grandfather today, so she got up as soon as the village roosters crowed.

She first gave Wei Jingzhuo two bags of IV fluid, and then carefully checked his pulse. She finally confirmed that the poison in his body had been almost completely cleared, and the injury on his foot had also healed.

Now we can indeed move around freely.

"After a few more days of IV drips, the poison in your body will be completely eliminated," she said while packing her luggage.

Wei Jingzhuo's expression had improved considerably, but it was still impossible to tell from his face. He got up and put on a linen robe. This time, he did not wear a mask. Instead, he looked at Su Wan and said, "From now on, you don't need to make your face ugly. Just restore your original appearance."

Su Wan stopped what she was doing and asked, "Why?"

Wei Jingzhuo said, "There are arrest warrants for you posted outside now, and the appearance is quite different from what you look like now."

She pointed to her face, which hadn't yet been made up, and said, "Is this the face?"

Since arriving in Linyuan Village, she had been disguising herself to look ugly, afraid of being recognized. She never expected that the arrest warrant would actually describe her as an ugly monster.

Wei Jingzhuo glanced at her fair face and nodded, saying, "Just be careful in the village from now on."

Her dark eyes suddenly lit up, and she said with a smile, "That's great! Then I won't have to worry about getting arrested wherever I go."

She had originally planned to go to Jiangnan to find Su Yuze after Wei Jingzhuo gained power, but she didn't expect to get rid of the troublesome identity of the deposed crown princess so quickly.

Wei Jingzhuo didn't miss the cheerful smile on her face, but his expression darkened after she said those words.

Since their last discussion about breaking up, he deliberately changed the subject and didn't give her a direct answer.

Unexpectedly, she brought up the topic of leaving again.

His voice was flat, revealing no emotion. "Where does A-Wan want to go?"

Without thinking, Su Wan blurted out, "Of course I'll go to Jiangnan to find my brother." She thought to herself, "If Jiangnan is a good place, I'll take over a pharmacy there, raise my brother to adulthood, and then my mission will be complete."

Wei Jingzhuo heard that he was not even part of her plan.

He was so angry that he picked up the glass of cold water on the table and took a sip. After a long while, he asked in a low voice, "What about me?"

Su Wan looked puzzled. "Weren't you going to pursue your grand ambitions? What does this have to do with me?"

Then she thought of the book about farming that she had written for him before, and wondered if Wei Jingzhuo was interested in the things in her mind.

"But don't worry, I can get you anything you want," she suddenly leaned closer, blinking her clear, dark eyes. "How about it? If you reach the top, how about making me a princess?"

Looking at the face so close to his, Wei Jingzhuo suddenly felt an itch in his hand, so he raised his hand and gently tapped her head.

"Not good."

"Ouch!" She clutched her head. "Ah Jin, aren't you being too stingy? I've given you my entire fortune, so what's wrong with giving me a princess title?"

Seeing that Wei Jingzhuo still looked calm, she didn't ask for the title of princess this time, but lowered her standards, saying, "Then a county princess is also acceptable."

Wei Jingzhuo remained calm, casually sipping his tea. "No."

"How about the village head then?"

"no."

"Wei Jingzhuo! Give me my consultation fee! One thousand taels of silver!"

"No."

Su Wanzhen was furious. "Then I quit! You're too stingy. I asked you to give me an official title before, and you didn't agree. Now I asked you to give me a county princess or a village lady title, and you still won't agree. Tell me, who will be willing to lead troops with you in the future?"

Besides, nothing has come of it yet, not even a hint of success. This person is really honest; he won't even offer her a glimpse of the future.

Seeing her utterly dejected expression, he said gently, "They are subordinates, you are my wife, how can you compare them?"

Su Wan said, "We discussed this before. I will give you what you need, and after you achieve great things, you must set me free."

How come now they're being portrayed as if the two people she described are actually a married couple?

If Wei Jingzhuo were an ordinary person, she might consider whether the two of them were suitable to be together, after all, someone as exceptional as Wei Jingzhuo is truly rare.

Not only was he good-looking, but he also had everything she admired. It's a pity that his status determined his extraordinary nature.

Wei Jingzhuo could see Su Wan's resistance. Reason told him that Su Wan was right and he should agree to her request.

But when the words were about to come out, he only said lightly, "Since ancient times, the husband and wife have always followed each other's lead."

Su Wan disagreed, correcting her, "What kind of husband and wife are we?"

“We’ve been married for half a month,” Wei Jingzhuo reminded her at the opportune moment, “It’s a proper marriage.”

Su Wan: "..."

Wei Jingzhuo continued, "Besides, you've seen me naked. You don't want to take responsibility? You just want to pack your bags and leave so quickly?"

“When did I see you naked?” she retorted. “I was treating your illness. If that’s the case, then I would have to take responsibility for many more people.”

Upon hearing this, Wei Jingzhuo's eyes immediately turned cold: "Whose body have you seen?"

“Please, I’m a doctor,” she said, not thinking it was a big deal at all. “In a doctor’s eyes, seeing a patient is no different than seeing a few pounds of pork.”

Su Wan's words only made things worse. Wei Jingzhuo narrowed his eyes, his gaze towards Su Wan filled with danger. He slowly approached, his voice icy, "You mean you think I'm like pork?"
