Chapter 79 I Don't Need Those Women

The moonlight shone into the room, making it feel cold and deserted.

After a long while, Wei Jingzhuo turned to look at Su Wan and said softly, "Wan, if you're angry, just say so. If I did something wrong, I can change, but please don't ignore me."

Su Wan couldn't sleep at all; she just wrapped herself in the blanket and pretended to be asleep. She pretended not to hear Wei Jingzhuo's words.

If I continue to be with him, he might take advantage of me any day. There's no going back now, so I'd better stay far away from him for now. Once I get back to Linyuan Village, I'll set off south to find Su Yuze.

Seeing that she still didn't speak, Wei Jingzhuo continued, "A couple of days ago, a carrier pigeon brought news from the south that your younger brother..."

Su Wan suddenly opened her eyes and turned to look at Wei Jingzhuo, "What happened to my brother?"

“Ah Wan, don’t worry. I’ve already arranged for people to protect him there. He’s studying at Lushan Academy, and his teacher praised your brother in his letter, saying he’s extremely intelligent and a rare child with a talent for studying.”

Su Wan nodded. She had made the right decision to send Su Yuze away. At the time, her main reason for wanting to marry Wei Jingzhuo was that she didn't know his character and was afraid he would use her younger brother to blackmail her like Yang Shi had done.

Besides, she had always been prepared to run away at any time.

Ultimately, she was a woman with little fighting ability. She would have difficulty escaping on her own; if she took Su Yuze with her, they would likely both be captured and taken back.

She never expected that she would later discover that she had married the deposed crown prince, Wei Jingzhuo.

Wei Jingzhuo's status also prevented her from keeping Su Yuze by her side at all times, as the Northwest was not a safe place to begin with.

Later, she followed Wei Jingzhuo and was chased to Linyuan Village. Wei Jingzhuo then sent Lin Qingfeng to Jiangnan to arrange everything for Su Yuze. Now the two have been separated for almost two months.

Now that she knew he was doing well, she asked, "I want to write a letter to my brother. Could you help me deliver it?"

She remembered that the last time she replied to Su Yuze, she used Wei Jingzhuo's carrier pigeon to deliver the letter.

Seeing that she was willing to talk to him, Wei Jingzhuo's brows relaxed a little, and he said gently, "Awan, since we are husband and wife, what's mine is yours. I'll send you a carrier pigeon tomorrow, so you can send messages to your brother anytime."

Su Wan thanked him, then turned over and fell silent again.

Wei Jingzhuo was a man of few words, but now, in order to get Su Wan to reveal the reason for her anger, he said, "I will have someone send Bai Zhiyi back tomorrow."

Su Wan knew that Wei Jingzhuo was an extremely arrogant person who would normally disdain making such explanations to others, but today he had said a lot.

She hesitated for a moment, but couldn't help but speak up: "Actually, it has nothing to do with Bai Zhiyi. Even without this Bai Zhiyi, there would be no Black Zhiyi, Red Zhiyi..."

Wei Jingzhuo suddenly stood up, interrupting her: "Awan, I don't know how."

I wouldn't have done that before, and I certainly won't do it again.

When he was the crown prince, he never thought of marrying other women. Now that he has Su Wan, he has even less reason to think about other women.

Su Wan still didn't believe it and asked, "That's hard to say. What if someone sends you beauties in the future, or you need the help of those women's families?"

He squinted and looked out the window into the distance. He was certainly aware of what his followers were thinking.

To solidify this relationship, marriage between the two parties is the most reliable option.

Thinking of this, Wei Jingzhuo's face turned cold, and his eyes darkened.

He thought of the advisors and people who had tried to defect to him before, all of whom had offered him the same condition: that he marry their daughters, or even just be their concubines.

They completely disregarded the fact that he was already married, and genuinely thought he was someone who could be easily manipulated.

Thinking of these things, his gaze grew even colder.

Su Wan turned around and glanced at him. Seeing him sitting there with an unpleasant expression, she assumed that her words had hit the nail on the head, which was why he was unhappy.

Unexpectedly, Wei Jingzhuo said, "In A-Wan's heart, do you think I, Wei Jingzhuo, am someone who can only rely on women to start a business?"

His tone was clearly cold, and he was also angry that Su Wan didn't understand him.

Su Wan didn't know how to answer, and after a moment of silence, she said, "Everyone... always has times when they have no choice in what they do."

If vows of eternal love were effective, there wouldn't be so many divorces.

“I have never been in a position of power,” Wei Jingzhuo’s voice was unusually cold and serious. “Since I have feelings for Awan, I will not do anything to betray you. I will let Awan see that what I say is not a joke.”

He doesn't make promises lightly. But once he does, he sticks to them.

He hoped she would let go of her worries, but if she couldn't, he could wait.

If one year doesn't work, he can wait two years; if two years don't work, he can wait five years. He can wait for her to change her mind.

He has plenty of time to waste with her.

Su Wan was taken aback; it turned out she had been overthinking things.

After saying these words, Wei Jingzhuo did not wait for her response, but lay down and closed his eyes.

Su Wan wanted to talk to him, but didn't know what to say, so she silently turned away.

The next morning, Su Wan got up early.

She changed into men's clothes and tied her hair up. Then she put the bed into the apartment and took out a toothbrush and toothpaste to wash up. Wei Jingzhuo, who was on the bed, opened his eyes and sat up after hearing the noise.

The two seemed to have tacitly avoided mentioning what happened last night, and instead acted as usual.

Su Wan squeezed toothpaste onto the toothbrush and handed it to him. Wei Jingzhuo was already used to brushing his teeth with a toothbrush, so he used it with exceptional skill.

After changing his dressing, Su Wan went out. Passing through two courtyards, she arrived at the front yard of the General's Mansion.
