Chapter 88 So these aren't herbs after all.

Wei Jingzhuo decided to go to Linyuan Village with Su Wan to see the potatoes that had ripened.

As soon as a blush appeared on the eastern sky, the two had already finished washing up. Wei Jingzhuo had barely finished washing up before Su Wan left the general's mansion.

Su Wan stepped out of the gate, tied up her bundle, and looked up to see Wei Jingzhuo riding a tall, handsome horse galloping towards her.

She was stunned.

She thought Wei Jingzhuo would at least prepare a carriage, but to her surprise, he only rode a horse.

Horseback riding was too bumpy; she had tried it before and didn't want to ride it. After thinking for a moment, she decided to walk for a while, and when she reached a less crowded area, she would take out the electric bicycle from her apartment and ride it.

After walking only a few steps, Wei Jingzhuo came over, bent down, scooped her up, and placed her on the horse.

Her slender body seemed somewhat frail, but the hand around her waist was surprisingly strong.

The two sat one in front of the other. Su Wan sat sideways on the saddle, her shoulder pressed against Wei Jingzhuo's chest. Wei Jingzhuo unfolded his black cloak and wrapped it around her, leaving only her small face exposed.

"It's windy, be careful not to catch a cold."

The cold voice, coupled with the crisp scent of cedarwood lingering in her nose, made her head feel dizzy.

"Be careful not to fall." Wei Jingzhuo's hand went around her body, gripping the reins tightly, signaling her to hold on tight.

Since Su Wan deliberately avoided him last time, the two hadn't been this close for a long time. This was the first time they had been this intimate in recent days.

Su Wan knew this wasn't the time to be sentimental; if the horse started running, she'd be thrown off. She reached out and tightly embraced his lean waist.

This position allowed her face to press tightly against Wei Jingzhuo's chest, and she could hear his strong heartbeat. His warm breath brushed against her ear, making her ear feel hot and tingly.

Wei Jingzhuo squeezed his legs tightly around the horse's belly, gave a cold shout, and the horse reared up, kicking up a cloud of dust. The two figures quickly disappeared at the end of the road.

Linyuan Village was only a day away from the General's Mansion, and Wei Jingzhuo rode at full speed, arriving at dinner time that afternoon.

Hearing the sound of horses' hooves outside, Lu Zhao, who was plowing in the yard, immediately put down the wooden bucket he was holding and ran to the gate to check.

Su Wan jumped down from Wei Jingzhuo's arms and walked quickly into the courtyard, calling out, "Xiao Zhao, I'm here."

When Lu Zhao saw that it was Su Wan, he smiled so broadly that his eyes disappeared: "Sister Wan, you're finally back. It's been almost two months since you left."

She's been craving Ah Wan's cooking a lot these past two months.

She turned to look at Wei Jingzhuo and saw that he had already tied his horse to a tree nearby and was walking over.

Lu Zhao was somewhat afraid of Wei Jingzhuo. Upon seeing him, she couldn't help but become respectful and clasped her hands in a fist salute to him.

Wei Jingzhuo treated Su Wan one way, and outsiders another. He merely nodded coldly and went inside.

Seeing Wei Jingzhuo leave, Lu Zhao finally relaxed and immediately pulled Su Wan along, saying, "Sister Wan, you're going to cook me a delicious meal today. The food you made last time was amazing."

If only she could cook, but all she knows how to do is eat.

Su Wan said with a smile, "I promise to cook a sumptuous dinner tonight, so you can eat your fill."

The yard is now full of potatoes; we can eat as many as we want.

Once inside the yard, she immediately went to find a shovel. Lu Zhao followed beside her, watching her squat on the ground digging up something he had been taking care of for almost two months, and couldn't help but feel a little curious.

Before Sister Awan left, she didn't say what it was; she always thought it was some kind of herb. Afraid of ruining it, she never dared to touch it.

When Su Wan dug out those bunches of potatoes, Lu Zhao exclaimed in surprise, "Sister Wan, what kind of herb is this? There are so many!"

It's not that she's ignorant; she's never seen so much stuff under a single seedling before.

They're round and cute.

Su Wan picked the potatoes one by one; because of their excellent variety, each one was big and round.

She left a few small ones and piled the larger ones next to the vegetable garden, intending to bring them to the apartment after Lu Zhao left.

Next spring, we can continue to plant them in batches.

We can hand it over to Lu Zhao to do then.

As she dug and picked potatoes, she said to Lu Zhao, "These are potatoes. The delicious dish I made for you last time was made with these. They are very cold-resistant and have a high yield. With these, we won't have to worry about going hungry anymore."

Lu Zhao stared in shock, his eyes wide. He hadn't expected this to be food, not herbs!

And it matured in just under three months.

If potatoes were planted all over the land in the Northwest, wouldn't they never have to worry about going hungry again?

Even a rough woman like her, who enjoys wielding swords and spears, knows the value of this crop. Once it's widely cultivated, Su Wan will be a hero of the Great Jin Dynasty.

Even if she weren't granted a title of nobility or high-ranking official, bestowing upon her the title of a county princess would be fitting.

Thinking of this, she looked at Su Wan with admiration and excitedly grabbed Su Wan's arm, saying, "Sister Wan, you're amazing! How did you get this?"

She used to travel all over the place with her older brother, and she had never seen anything so rare.

Su Wan couldn't tell the truth, so she had to make up an excuse: "I got this by chance at home. I originally intended to grow it as a flower, but I didn't expect it to turn out like this."

Lu Zhao nodded knowingly. It was normal for doctors to discover such things by chance, as they often tended to flowers and plants.
