Chapter 99 Every expense was recorded in a notebook

Lupin stepped aside a hurried maid and strode aggressively toward the goddess's tent, followed by several soldiers.

The soldiers along the way all knew he was a commander of ten thousand, and not one dared to step forward to stop him.

Luna followed closely beside Lupin, sweating profusely, and kept explaining, "Brother, I already told you. This servant is the one I brought with me when I set off. I'm going to invite the goddess, and it's inconvenient to go alone."

"Do you think I'm blind?" Luna turned around and grabbed his collar, his breath reeking of alcohol, which made Luna dizzy. "You clearly left alone."

He was reprimanded by the king and stayed in his tent drinking alone, fuming. While he was quite drunk, he learned that his younger brother, Luna, had returned with a servant. Although he was very drunk, his mind was still somewhat clear, and he suddenly remembered that Luna hadn't taken any servants with him when he left.

Who was the person that Luna brought back?

He went to question Luna, and the more he asked, the more suspicious it seemed. Mainly, Luna seemed too nervous and spoke vaguely, which felt abnormal.

He would have tortured anyone else directly. Luna is his younger brother, and he didn't want others to think he abused his brother, which is why he brought people to find him.

Luna forced a smile and said, "I didn't bring any servants at first, but later I felt it wouldn't be grand enough. After all, I'm an envoy sent by the King, so I called one at the last minute. The King also said that I'm allowed to allocate money and manpower at will. I didn't do anything wrong, did I?"

If his elder brother finds out that he was the one who brought Wei Jingzhuo into the military camp, Wei Jingzhuo will be beheaded, and he will definitely not fare well either.

In this situation, there is no other way but to hold on.

Lupin snorted, loosened his collar, stopped at the tent entrance, and asked the soldier who was following him, "That person didn't come out of the goddess's tent, did he?"

One soldier replied, "Commander, it seems the goddess did leave a few male servants to help her with some tasks, saying they needed to carry something. I don't know if they've come out or not."

"It's alright, I'll go into the tent and search it to see who that person is."

Lupin grinned maliciously and strode into the tent.

Luna felt like her calves were about to cramp, and she didn't know if Wei Jingzhuo had left. Her heart was pounding with anxiety, and she kept praying silently.

When Su Wan's maids saw Lu Bang ignoring the king's orders and barging straight in, they rushed to stop him, crying out in alarm, "Commander, you can't go in. The goddess is not in a position to go in right now..."

"Get out of my way!"

Lupin pushed aside the maid who was blocking his way and said to the soldiers and Luna behind him, "You all stand guard at the door." Then he lifted the curtain and went into the tent.

A light mist hung in the tent, and women's clothes were scattered on the ground. Lupin immediately spotted Su Wan in the bathtub.

Su Wan was completely submerged in the water, only her head above water, glaring angrily at him: "Lupin, how dare you break into my tent! This is outrageous!"

Normally, Lupin would know his place. But now, fueled by alcohol, he dared to mess with even the most powerful figures, laughing loudly, "Where is Luna's servant? Didn't the goddess invite him to dinner? Why is he gone?"

Su Wan retorted angrily, "Of course they left a long time ago. I'm taking a shower right now, how could anyone be here? Get out of here right now!"

Lupin knew she wasn't dressed and didn't dare get out of the tub. Gripping his sword at his waist, his gaze swept across the tent, landing on the box of bedding in the corner.

The box was woven from rattan and was large enough to hold an adult man. Beside the box were bedding scattered on the ground, as if they had been hurriedly taken out of the box and thrown on the ground.

He looked smug, glanced at Su Wan, and slowly walked towards the box after drawing his sword.

Su Wan had deliberately taken the bedding out of the box and thrown it away to give Lupin the illusion that someone was hiding in the box. Seeing that he had indeed fallen for it, she was delighted, but said aloud, "What are you doing? Didn't you hear me tell you to get out? Don't go over there."

Her words made Lupin even more convinced that there was someone hidden in the box. He laughed and said, "I can go wherever I want. The king only listens to you because he wants you to cure his illness. I won't listen to you."

Su Wan pretended to be scared and wrote Lupin's words down in her mental notebook. Just as she was about to continue arguing with Lupin, the water in front of her slowly spun, and Wei Jingzhuo emerged from the water with a bunch of flower petals on his head.

Fortunately, the bathtub was very high, and Lupin was far away, so he couldn't see what was happening here.

Seeing that Wei Jingzhuo's face was as red as a ripe apple, Su Wan thought he was holding his breath, so she quickly pressed down on the top of his head and gestured with her eyes.

Wei Jingzhuo nodded, took a deep breath, and silently dived back into the water.

Luna had already walked up to the box, tapped it with the back of his knife, turned to Su Wan, and smiled, "Goddess, why are all these beddings left outside instead of being put in the box?"

Su Wan said, "I think these beddings aren't soft enough. I'd like to find a soft mattress to put on the bed. Is that a problem?"

Luna laughed and said, "Your Great Jin has a saying: 'A cooked duck has tender meat but a tough beak.' That's what they mean by someone like you, all talk and no action."

After saying that, he used the tip of his knife to pry open the lid of the box, and with a snap, the box was opened.

To his great disappointment, the box was empty; there was no one hiding inside.

Su Wan couldn't help but laugh, "Commander, what I just said is all true, why don't you believe me? If the King finds out you're nagging me, do you know how he will punish you?"

Lupin was already angry about this, and Su Wan's mention of it made him even angrier.
