The sky was exceptionally overcast, and the wind felt chilly on the face, so pedestrians on the street wrapped their clothes tighter.
Su Wan felt very unwell today and didn't want to go anywhere. She lay lazily in bed and just didn't want to get up.
I have a dull ache in my lower abdomen, just like I felt a couple of days ago. Last time, drinking goat milk helped, but this time even drinking hot water didn't alleviate it.
She had been lying in bed all morning, but she felt she couldn't keep going like that. If she kept lying there, the whole day would be wasted.
She got up, tied her hair up, put on men's makeup, and was about to put on her pants when she suddenly felt something flowing out from below. She then realized that her period had started.
As if on cue, this is exactly what happened. These kinds of things aren't suitable for changing indoors, so she quickly grabbed a bag of tampons from her apartment, put on her coat, and ran to the outhouse.
After changing into a sanitary napkin in the outhouse, she planned to return to her room and continue her nap.
She's no longer a corporate slave; when she gets her period, she takes a day off to relax. This is a woman's way of being kind to herself, not being lazy.
Bai Zhiyi happened to be walking in through the other gate with her maid. When she saw that the person in front of her looked like Doctor Su, she was overjoyed.
She originally came to see Doctor Su, and now that she saw Doctor Su right in front of her, she wasn't about to leave.
She was about to chase after her when she suddenly stopped, her gaze falling on the clothes behind Su Wan.
As Dr. Su's outer garment fluttered in the wind, she noticed what appeared to be a dark red stain on the buttocks of her pale white inner garment.
For a woman, that spot is far too sensitive; she subconsciously thinks it's blood, the blood from her menstrual period.
When she tried to get closer to take a better look, Su Wan, clutching her coat, had already run into the house and closed the door.
When Bai Zhiyi saw Su Wan enter the house, she looked up and her heart was filled with a surging wave of shock.
Isn't this the room where His Highness lives?
She stared at the door in disbelief.
Seeing her shocked expression and the fact that she hadn't moved for a long time, the maid asked in a low voice, "Miss, what's wrong?"
Bai Zhiyi had indeed considered the difference in His Highness's feelings towards Doctor Su, but she assumed it was because of Doctor Su's medical skills that His Highness couldn't live without him. She never imagined that His Highness would actually allow this person to stay in his room.
Even a personal guard like Lin Qingfeng, His Highness doesn't live with him.
Given the bloodstains on Dr. Su's body, she already had a guess in her mind. She couldn't wait any longer, so she lifted her skirt with both hands and rushed to the door of the room.
Just as she was about to push the door open and rush in, a flash of silver light appeared, and a long sword was held horizontally, blocking her and the door.
"Miss Bai, this is not a place you can just walk into. Take your maid and leave," Lin Qingfeng said politely but firmly.
Lin Qingfeng noticed Bai Zhiyi as soon as she stepped into the courtyard.
She thought that a noble lady from a prominent family in the capital would know shame and would stop at a man's courtyard.
Unexpectedly, she barged in.
Bai Zhiyi turned pale with fright at Lin Qingfeng. She was in a hurry to confirm Su Wan's identity, but she didn't expect there to be guards here.
Seeing Bai Zhiyi standing there in a daze, Lin Qingfeng rudely told her to leave: "If Miss Bai doesn't leave, then don't blame me for being ruthless."
Bai Zhiyi was afraid that he would reach out and pull her again, so she quickly said, "Guard Lin, I need to see Doctor Su. Please go in and inform him for me."
The maidservant stepped forward to explain, "My young lady has an injury on her face and wants to see Doctor Su to take a look and prescribe some medicine."
Lin Qingfeng refused to back down: "We can talk about this after Doctor Su gets up. Please leave now."
Bai Zhiyi was unwilling to leave. She had finally discovered clues about Doctor Su's secret, so how could she give up?
But seeing the long sword in front of her, she didn't dare to force her way in, so she could only look at Lin Qingfeng with an innocent expression.
“Guard Lin,” she said, her face veiled except for her tearful eyes, looking pitiful, “I just need to get some medicine from Doctor Su. Could you please go in and inform him? If he refuses to see me, I’ll just stand here and wait.”
We'll keep Dr. Su locked inside the door, and see if he can stay inside for a whole day.
Su Wan hadn't slept at all; she was lying on the bed watching a show on her tablet.
That's the downside of ancient times—there weren't many entertainment options, and there was no Wi-Fi. Luckily, she had saved a few TV series on her tablet to pass the time.
Hearing the argument outside, she put the tablet back in the apartment, got up, put on her clothes, sat down at the table, and called out, "Guard Lin, let her in."
She knew Bai Zhiyi's personality well; this woman was very persistent, and if she wasn't allowed in, she could probably stay outside all day.
Hearing the response from inside, Bai Zhiyi was secretly pleased. Ignoring Lin Qingfeng's unpleasant expression, she pushed open the door and entered the room.
Her gaze then became fixed on Su Wan.
Su Wan's hair was tied in a man's bun, making her fair face appear even smaller. Her bright eyes held a smile, and her androgynous face was more beautiful than any woman's.
A glint of light flashed in her eyes, and she said softly, "Dr. Su doesn't look well. Is something wrong with your health?"
Su Wan did not answer, but instead picked up the kettle on the table and poured herself a cup of hot water.
Wei Jingzhuo has been sent to the study in the next courtyard by her, firstly to make it convenient for him to meet with his subordinates at any time, and secondly to prevent him from acting impulsively at night.
Now that she's the only one living here, the General's Mansion doesn't even provide tea anymore. How stingy!
After she drank a sip of hot water, the discomfort in her lower abdomen eased somewhat.
Seeing that she was just drinking water and not saying anything, Bai Zhiyi was getting anxious. She had finally seized this opportunity and was determined to find out the true identity of Doctor Su.
