Wei Jingzhuo looked at her face, and if her bright eyes weren't so dazzling, he could hardly see a flaw.
In his twenty-three years of life, few things could make him lose his composure.
But ever since he met Su Wan, everything seems to have changed.
She was shrouded in mystery, constantly bringing him endless surprises and awe.
After scrutinizing his face for a while, Su Wan picked up her makeup box and walked over.
She said, "Let me give you a simple makeover too. How about it? Want to give it a try?"
Wei Jingzhuo lost his composure in an instant, but he quickly replied as if nothing had happened, "Then I'll trouble you, Madam."
Fearing she wouldn't make it in time, Su Wan walked to the bedside and patted it hard, making the bed creak.
It's still holding up; it hasn't collapsed.
She took off her shoes, got into bed, knelt in front of him, and carefully avoided his legs.
She opened the makeup box and applied a layer of dark earth-toned powder to his face. To make it more realistic, she used a lot of makeup products.
The two were very close, their noses filled with the woman's unique fragrance.
It has a faint, slightly sunny scent.
He sniffed it lightly, then felt that such behavior was not gentlemanly and wanted to step back.
Su Wan grabbed him: "Can you please stop moving around? Otherwise, I'll have to redo your makeup if it gets messed up."
Luckily, she hadn't put makeup on him earlier.
As she spoke, she placed a scar decoration on his face.
Even upon close inspection, it's impossible to tell that the scar is fake. To make the scar look more terrifying, she deliberately made it large and long.
The main reason is that Wei Jingzhuo is too good-looking; if he doesn't make any adjustments, he will be easily recognized.
After she finished doing his makeup, his face was completely transformed; he looked like a free-spirited young man.
The aura he exuded was somewhat incongruous with his appearance.
"Just stay in bed," she said, jumping off the bed and covering him with a thin blanket, making him look sickly. "I'll go out and find out some news later. There are some steamed buns left by Granny Cui in the kitchen. You can get them if you're hungry. Remember to use your cane when you get out of bed, and don't try to be brave."
She couldn't just sit and wait to die; she had to go out and gather some information first.
She knew absolutely nothing about the situation here.
“I know you have some life-saving items, but you must only use them in dire circumstances,” he said, taking something out of his pocket. “Use this if anything happens, and I’ll come to you right away.”
Su Wan watched as he took the signal flare.
“No need,” she pushed it back, and then, under the pretense of taking something from the medicine box, she pulled out a laser pointer. “We’ll use this as a signal; your thing is too conspicuous.”
The key is that pulling the lever immediately sets off fireworks in the sky, which easily distracts her.
It can't save your life, but a laser pointer can be used to act like a magician in critical moments and can also unexpectedly interfere with the other party.
Wei Jingzhuo wanted to explain that the thing was not only something that would allow him to know immediately, but also something that would allow his subordinates to arrive at any time to rescue Ren. However, when he heard her say that it was a signal between the two of them, he silently withdrew his explanation. He smiled gently and said, "Yes, we will use this to contact each other from now on."
Su Wan felt that there was something strange about what he said, but seeing that he still looked aloof and distant, she didn't think much of it.
Before leaving, she went to the kitchen again, picked up a Tao Wan who had already opened her mouth and a stick that were lying on the ground, and then went out the door.
As expected, Linyuan Village had only a few scattered houses. She hadn't walked far when she saw a young man leaning against a tree, idly crossing his legs and holding a straw in his mouth.
The key point is that there was another Tao Wan, just like her, at his feet.
She raised an eyebrow, surprised to run into a fellow traveler while going out; it was quite a rare occurrence.
After glancing at him, she quietly moved away from him.
He sat up abruptly and called to her in a lazy voice, "Hey! Little beggar in front, come here."
Su Wan turned around and glared at him. Who are you calling a little beggar?
Seeing that she showed no sign of stopping, the man walked up to her and looked her up and down.
“So we’re in the same line of work,” he said, handing over his bowl. “Can I help you out?”
Su Wan then took a good look at him. He had a pair of narrow, almond-shaped eyes that were smiling, and a few strands of hair that were twisted together hung down in front of his forehead. His clothes were tattered.
He smiled and looked at her.
She silently took his bowl and carried it for him for a while, saying, "It's okay, I don't mind doing this little favor."
The man saw that she was only holding a tattered pottery bowl, and then...
And that was it.
Where's the silver? Where's the copper coin?
Not a single one!
She was really helping him carry a broken bowl.
He squinted at Su Wan with his peach blossom eyes for a while, then suddenly moved closer.
Su Wan took a step back, keeping a safe distance from him.
She asked, "What are you going to do? Let me tell you, I don't have much food left either, so don't even think about messing with me."
"Hahaha, I've never met such an interesting person before," he suddenly burst into laughter. "What? Can't we be friends? We're both out begging for food, why don't we team up?"
The laughter attracted the attention of some villagers.
"That guy is a complete idiot. Our village is full of poor people, and someone comes begging for food? He's got no idea what he's thinking!"
"Sigh, they're just criminals from the mines. They're lucky if they can get a bite of bread a day."
Otherwise, these people would have run away to beg for food long ago.
Hearing those words, Su Wan glanced at the man again. No wonder he didn't look like a beggar at first glance.
