Su Wan left the consultation room and lingered outside with Chu Mingyao and her brother, as well as Lin Qingfeng, for a while before heading to the front yard to find Jiang Wenpei.
It was lunchtime, and the sun was shining brightly.
The White Walkers are dead, and the corpses and bloodstains in the courtyard have been cleaned up overnight. The next task is to clear the ruins. Many houses were destroyed by the White Walkers last night, even the kitchens were not spared. The Holy Land doesn't have many people left, so the cleanup will be quite troublesome.
Su Wan arrived at the front courtyard reception room. She saw that half of the reception room had collapsed, but the other half was still usable. A table and a few chairs were set up in the open space amidst the ruins, and a tea set was placed on the table. Jiang Yan held a cup of hot tea, leisurely chatting with Jiang Wenpei.
She approached the two of them and coughed lightly.
Jiang Yan turned around and smiled, "Goddess, you've arrived. The Creator said you must personally go after that fake Goddess. Although I don't understand why you don't send a tracker, the Creator's orders must be obeyed."
Su Wan said, "I really have to go there myself. I have two difficulties. First, I don't know where she is, and second, I need a boat to leave here."
Jiang Yan said, "I've already asked Wen Pei to investigate the first matter, and we should have results soon."
Su Wan glanced at Jiang Wenpei standing to the side and thought to herself, "He's still standing right here, how can I investigate?"
"Mr. Jiang, how did you find out about Bai Zhiyi's whereabouts?" she asked.
Jiang Wenpei picked up the teapot, poured a cup of tea, and handed it to her, saying, "I have a brilliant plan. Goddess, please have some tea and wait here for a moment. I am currently discussing with the head of the family how to obtain a ship."
Su Wan was also a little thirsty, so she took the bag and sat down.
While Jiang Wenpei was drinking tea, a magpie landed from the sky, folded its wings, and perched on his shoulder, chirping a few times as if it were quite agitated.
"Is it talking to you?" Su Wan asked in surprise.
Jiang Wenpei sighed, seemingly quite disappointed, and said, "Exactly, I sent it to ask the other birds if they saw that fake goddess."
While Su Wan was amazed, she remembered that Zhang Ying had told her that Jiang Wenpei had the skill of controlling beasts. She never imagined that he could not only control beasts, but also talk to birds. It was incredible.
"Mr. Jiang, are you really talking to the birds?" she pressed.
Jiang Wenpei waved the magpie away and said, "To be honest, Goddess, I don't understand their language. I can only get a general idea from their calls. It's like cats and dogs that people keep. The owner can tell what they want to express by their different calls, that's all."
"So what does it roughly mean?"
"It was furious. Many birds' nests had been destroyed by the flood, and no one was thinking about anything else. No bird noticed the woman wearing a mask."
Su Wan put down her teacup, stood up and said, "Mr. Jiang, if you have time, please teach me this."
That would be so cool to be able to talk to birds.
Jiang Wenpei said, "Since the goddess has made her request, I will naturally grant it. I wonder what you think..."
Just as Su Wan was filled with anticipation, a commotion suddenly came from the direction of the main gate, as if many people were making a scene outside.
Just as she was wondering, a man with a bruised and swollen face ran into the reception room, almost bumping into her, but luckily she dodged in time.
Upon seeing her, the man immediately stopped and bowed, saying, "Goddess, there are dozens of rafts at the foot of the mountain. A group of soldiers from the Great Jin Dynasty have come aboard, led by a female general. I've come to find the head of the family..."
Su Wan's eyes lit up, and she said, "It's my sworn sister."
"...Patriarch, we did tell her that this is the sacred ground of the Divine Physician Family and that we cannot enter without permission, but she wouldn't listen and forced her way in. We tried to stop her, but she threw us out one by one. Look at how badly I fell."
As the man was complaining to Jiang Yan, Su Wan had already run out of the reception room and rushed towards the front door.
Outside the sacred ground, Meng Ruliu strode up the steps, followed by a large group of Jin soldiers with their chests puffed out and bellies protruding: "These stinking men... This general is looking for my sworn sister. If you dare to obstruct me again, I'll tear this entire house down..."
The Jin soldiers behind them shouted in unison, "Demolish the courtyard! Demolish the courtyard!"
Su Wan ran out the door, cheering and opening her arms to rush towards Meng Ruliu.
Meng Ruliu, who had been so fierce, rushed towards Su Wan and immediately embraced her, tears streaming down her face. The soldiers behind her cheered and raised their weapons when they saw Su Wan.
The Jin army was able to defeat the monsters entirely thanks to Su Wan's chili water, and the Jin army, from top to bottom, held Su Wan in high esteem. Seeing that Su Wan was safe and sound, the soldiers were genuinely happy.
“Sister, I saw the flood yesterday and thought you had perished…” Meng Ruliu cried. “I had the soldiers build rafts overnight to search along the shore. I never expected to find you here. I was so worried.”
Su Wan also shed tears, wiping Meng Ruliu's tears with her sleeve: "Sister Yi, don't cry, I'm fine, I'm standing here perfectly fine."
A lieutenant approached and said, "Reporting to General Mingwei, this courtyard has been completely demolished, we..."
Meng Ruliu turned around and glared at the lieutenant: "I've already found my sworn sister, what are you doing? You all go down the mountain and wait."
After dismissing the lieutenant, Meng Ruliu asked, "Where is the General?"
Su Wan didn't intend to tell Meng Ruliu the truth, saying, "A Jin was injured, and I've already taken him to the treatment room. This is a family of renowned doctors, and A Jin is receiving treatment here. Keep your soldiers in check and don't let them act too recklessly."
Meng Ruliu pouted and said, "It was them who created the ghost army... But now that I've found you, I'm relieved."
Su Wan asked, "Sister Yi, did you see any boats being lowered from upstream yesterday?"
Meng Ruliu said, "Of course I saw it, but we didn't have any boats at the time, so we couldn't chase after them. The scouts reported this morning that Bai Zhiyi and Xie Maoliang released the water. They breached the mouth of the Gui River. Fortunately, our camp is on high ground. They sailed downstream, seemingly heading to the capital. I want to find you and the General first, and then raise our troops to return to the capital after the flood recedes."
