Su Wan jumped down through the gap in the crab's leg, and Wei Jingzhuo caught her.
"Mission accomplished." Su Wan hugged Wei Jingzhuo's neck and excitedly kissed him on the cheek.
Wei Jingzhuo said, "Although we stopped the clone army, Zhang Ying is still around."
Su Wan looked up at the crab's body. Looking up from under the crab's feet, its disc-shaped metallic abdomen almost covered the entire starry sky.
The cannons on the crab's arms were not pointed at the distant, smoke-filled capital of Southern Chu, but were lowered, with wisps of smoke rising from their huge muzzles.
"It seems that the machine that I was talking to also disabled Zhang Ying's right to control the artillery."
She wasn't just guessing; it was this same female voice that communicated with Zhang Ying when she extracted her life force. The same female voice also rang out at the cloning control console, suggesting it was some kind of central control AI for Cancer.
Zhang Ying violated the cloning law, and Cancer shut down the cloning process, which also restricted her right to operate the artillery.
Without Cancer's cannons and clone army, no matter how much Zhang Ying jumps around, she can't make a splash.
Wei Jingzhuo put her on the ground, and Chu Yi jumped down as well, stretching out his hands to Meng Ruliu and saying, "Miss Meng, I've come to pick you up."
Without the cloning army's obstruction, Jiang Wenpei helped them retrieve their defensive guns and Chu Yi's scimitar.
Su Wan, having stopped the clone army, was in a good mood. She pulled Wei Jingzhuo aside and smiled at Chu Yi, saying, "Brother Chu, you're bound to run into trouble again. I think you'd better leave."
Chu Yi said, "No."
Before she could finish speaking, Meng Ruliu stood at the edge, her hands gripping the metal plate at the gap. Seeing Chu Yi standing below the gap, she said, "Your Majesty, you're blocking my way. Move aside."
Chu Yi said, "It's alright, Miss Meng, just jump, I'll catch you."
Meng Ruliu said, "How can I jump if you're standing below me?"
Chu Yi stretched out his hand, but Meng Ruliu stopped jumping, making Chu Yi somewhat embarrassed. He didn't know whether to extend his hand or withdraw it, so he looked at Su Wan and said, "Don't just laugh, at least help me out a little."
Su Wan hugged Wei Jingzhuo's arm and said to Meng Ruliu with a smile, "Sister-in-law, Brother Chu is just worried about you, go ahead and jump."
Meng Ruliu shook her head: "I don't need his concern."
Chu Yi was even more embarrassed now. He withdrew his hand and hesitated as he backed away, saying, "I meant well."
Meng Ruliu leaped to the ground and stood up, saying, "My sworn sister doesn't know martial arts, which is why Your Majesty had to catch her. Does Your Majesty perhaps think I'm as weak as my sworn sister?"
"No, no," Chu Yi raised his hand and waved it wildly, "Miss Meng is the most amazing woman I have ever met. I admire her very much."
Meng Ruliu said, "Mr. Jiang will be coming down later. He is just a scholar, so Your Majesty can condescend to receive him."
Chu Yi was both amused and exasperated, and said, "Alright, alright."
He stood below the gap and said, "Mr. Jiang, you should come down too."
Jiang Wenpei appeared, standing at the edge of the gap with both hands, but showed no intention of jumping down. He said, "You should go back to the capital of Southern Chu."
Su Wan was taken aback for a moment, then said, "Sir, aren't you coming with us?"
Jiang Wenpei shook his head, raised the Resurrection Pendant in his hand, and said, "I want to go back to see the Creator and return the Resurrection Pendant to her."
Su Wan was stunned and said, "Sir, are you not confused? You still want to see Zhang Ying?"
Jiang Wenpei said, "My brother and I were originally just commoners in the Southern Chu Kingdom. It was the Creator who gave us eternal life. We both vowed to protect her, so I cannot leave the Creator."
Meng Ruliu said, "But... sir, you just helped us stop the clone army."
Jiang Wenpei said, "Don't misunderstand. I helped you stop the clone army only because I didn't want the Creator to kill civilians. It doesn't mean I will betray the Creator. I will go to see the Creator and accept her punishment."
Chu Yi looked at Wei Jingzhuo and said, "Jinzhi, Mr. Jiang is stubborn. Why don't you talk to him?"
Wei Jingzhuo said, "Mr. Jiang, Zhang Ying wants to destroy this world. You helped us stop her, but I'm afraid she won't let you go. Why don't you come with us?"
Su Wan urged, "Mr. Jiang, jump down quickly, or Zhang Ying might come looking for you."
Jiang Wenpei said, "I won't say any more. You should leave quickly. The Creator will definitely do you a disservice."
After he finished speaking, he waved his hand and said, "Let's go."
Seeing that Jiang Wenpei refused to go with them, and with Su Yuze, Chu Mingyao and the others on her mind, Su Wan pulled Wei Jingzhuo and said, "Ajin, Mr. Jiang has his own ideas, so let's not force him. Let's hurry back to the capital of Southern Chu. I want to go see Yuze and the others."
Wei Jingzhuo reached out and patted her head, then said to Jiang Wenpei, "Thanks to you, sir, we were able to stop the clone army this time."
After speaking, Wei Jingzhuo pulled Su Wan along and bowed to Jiang Wenpei.
Jiang Wenpei waved his hand and said, "I didn't help much; it was all thanks to the goddess."
Meng Ruliu also bowed to Jiang Wenpei. Seeing that Chu Yi was still standing there without moving, she said, "Greetings to Mr. Jiang."
Chu Yi was still somewhat reluctant, saying, "I am the ruler of the Southern Chu Kingdom..."
Meng Ruliu glared at him, and Chu Yi quickly shut up, clasping his hands in thanks to Jiang Wenpei.
Jiang Wenpei said, "No need for formalities, let's go."
Su Wan took Wei Jingzhuo's arm and called to Meng Ruliu and the other woman, "Sister-in-law, Brother Chu, let's go."
Just as the four were about to take a step, they heard a hissing sound behind them, followed by Jiang Wenpei's startled cry, which sounded like he was in great pain.
Su Wan turned around and saw that Jiang Wenpei's chest was inexplicably stained red with blood, which quickly soaked through his clothes and was spreading rapidly. Then, he fell straight down through the gap and landed on the ground.
