Chapter 27 Can anyone explain why...?

Chapter 27 Can anyone explain why...?

When Fu Qing arrived at the school gate, Sun Wei was sitting on her suitcase with a mournful face, checking her SD card and wailing.

Fu Qing slowed down and glanced at the surrounding mountains not far away.

The massive mountains were pitch black and deep under the night sky. The deserted school gate, with its dim streetlights and Sun Wei's resentful wailing, created an eerie atmosphere reminiscent of a ghost movie filming location.

Except the female ghost was yelling, "My~ material~~"

Fu Qing is kind of funny.

With the system in place, Fangzhou's security measures are probably even stricter than some key bases. Food delivery and courier services can't get in; they have to be delivered to designated locations and then transported into the campus by robots. Students can't even mention zombies to their parents, and Sun Wei's plan to film a video here is obviously impossible.

The SD card was damaged by the system and burned out, but fortunately it did not affect the machine itself.

Fu Qing glanced at Sun Wei's seemingly expensive camera and secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

"Photography is prohibited on campus," she reminded them.

"Principal?" Sun Wei noticed her and quickly put down her camera. "Did I disturb you? I'm sorry. But what do you mean by not being able to take pictures?"

She didn't understand.

As far as I can remember, only military bases and special locations are off-limits for filming. How could a regular university, with so many students coming and going every day, be off-limits for filming? What about taking pictures of the blackboard or documenting campus life?

Sun Wei had considered the difficulties she might face before going to university, such as her roommates disagreeing or being gossiped about by her classmates, but she never expected that the campus itself would prohibit taking photos.

Could there be something wrong with Xishan?

For example, there might be a secret military base hidden inside... As long as any photographic equipment enters, it will receive automatic interference; otherwise, it's hard to explain why her SD card inexplicably burned out just after her camera captured the scene inside the school.

Sun Wei thought of many things in an instant.

Looking down at the completely unusable SD card in her hand, she suddenly had a strange thought and shuddered.

"Could it be that our school is haunted?" Sun Wei asked fearfully. "Did I photograph something evil?"

Fu Qing: "...?"

What was she thinking in those few seconds?

Fu Qing said, "I haven't heard any similar rumors yet. But if you keep howling, they might come tomorrow."

It took Sun Wei three seconds to understand what the principal meant, and she obediently made a zipping motion on her mouth.

Seeing that Sun Wei seemed genuinely unaware of anything, Fu Qing asked in confusion, "Where's Song Rushuang? Didn't she tell you about the school?"

Didn't she just dump this unfortunate burden on her? Did that classmate run away halfway through?

“Oh, her aunt seems to have been a little frightened. Xiao Shuang was later taken to the hospital by her parents. She said she would show me around the campus tomorrow,” Sun Wei said. “But from what I heard, she meant she wanted to help me move my things, so I didn’t want to trouble her and came over early myself.”

As she spoke, she pointed to a pile of luggage on the ground: "After all, I have a lot of stuff, so I was thinking of asking some runners to help me move it in, but I didn't expect the school to not allow outsiders to enter."

Fu Qing glanced at her luggage. Judging from the shape of the packages, there should be tripods or something similar. Not only were there many of them, but their weight was also considerable.

Thinking back to her introduction in the video she had just filmed, Fu Qing had a sudden thought.

Sun Wei, leaning on her crutches, looked distressed: "What should we do now?"

“I can help you get to your dorm,” Fu Qing suddenly said.

Sun Wei was startled and was about to wave her hand to refuse: "How could I trouble you..."

"It's no trouble at all."

Fu Qing's gaze shifted to a spot not far away, where a robot slowly walked over.

It has wheels on its feet and a small hauling platform on its back. It is usually responsible for transporting packages to the courier points and is one of the cutting-edge technologies used to maintain the campus system.

The robot, along with its platform, is just the right size to fit into the dormitory elevator.

"Send these to room 1111 in the girls' dormitory," Fu Qing said to it.

"Received." The connection between the robot and the platform made a click as it disconnected, and then it bent down to carry the luggage one by one.

Sun Wei's eyes widened: This is amazing! What kind of cutting-edge technology is this?! She quickly stepped forward and helped carry two easy-to-handle items onto the transport platform.

There was also an oversized suitcase next to her, containing Sun Wei's books and some valuable photography equipment. When Sun Wei saw it, her gaze sharpened, and she looked somewhat uneasy.

When she arrived, she hired two movers to help carry it downstairs, repeatedly telling them that it was very heavy. The two tall, experienced movers laughed and said it was nothing, then bent down and exerted force, their faces turning deathly pale.

In the end, the two of them, one on each side, shouted slogans and struggled for a long time before finally managing to move the box downstairs.

As they were loading it into the car, one of them said to her earnestly, "Don't put weights in the boxes next time, okay?"

Sun Wei felt too embarrassed, so she gave them an extra two hundred yuan before leaving.

Recalling this painful experience, Sun Wei dared not gamble on the sturdiness of the little robot in front of her, and said tactfully, "This box is a bit heavy... I might need to call two boys over to help..."

She paused, then added, even more embarrassed, "It would be best if they were two strong ones."

Fu Qing glanced at her, stepped forward, hefted the box in her hand, and then, with a thud, moved it onto the platform. Ignoring the heavy thud it made upon landing, anyone watching her movements would likely mistakenly think the box was quite light.

Sun Wei: "..."

She seemed to read doubt in the principal's eyes.

Is the leadership of this school determined by its military strength?

Sun Wei was unaware that she had stumbled upon half the truth, and looked at Fu Qing's back with great emotion: I really wanted to record that scene.

pity.

The robot dragged the luggage away, and Fu Qing and Sun Wei, who was using crutches, walked slowly behind.

It was nearly ten o'clock. Since it was the weekend, there was no set time for lights to turn off, and the campus was still quite lively. As the two walked, they heard a panting shout from behind: "Excuse me!"

Sun Wei quickly stopped and hopped twice on one foot to the side of the road. Just as she was settled, she felt someone dart past her.

He was so agile that he was practically a blur. In Sun Wei's common sense, people would only run that fast when being chased by a dog.

Sun Wei turned around curiously, and the next second her pupils widened in shock: a humanoid creature was lying on the ground, rushing towards her at high speed using both its hands and feet!

Before Sun Wei could scream, the thing swept past her like a gust of wind, completely ignoring her, and pounced straight at the person in front of her. After a chase of several dozen meters, it finally tackled him to the ground.

Along the tree-lined path, people returning from their workouts and students taking a stroll passed by constantly, seemingly unfazed by the scene. However, a few people still stopped near the boy, pointing and whispering.

The boy remained motionless for several seconds, lying face down on the ground.

Sun Wei asked, trembling with fear, "Is he dead?"

Fu Qing observed for a while, then said with a slightly strange expression, "No."

He just didn't know his own limitations and set the zombie stats too high, which is why he died.

"But what exactly is chasing him..."

Sun Wei was completely baffled: that thing looked like a humanoid creature, but it couldn't possibly actually be a person, could it?

She had read online that crawling is good for spinal health, but she had never heard of anyone daring to crawl in public. Are college students these days so ahead of their time?

Sun Wei cautiously took a few steps closer and finally saw the humanoid creature crawl off the boy. Its profile looked bloodless under the streetlights, and there was even a pale crack on its forehead, revealing rotten flesh that had lost its vitality.

It turned its head and saw Fu Qing next to Sun Wei, and slowly grinned – its features were not those of a living person at all!

If Fu Qing hadn't stopped her in time, Sun Wei, who has difficulty walking, would probably have been scrambling away on all fours like the zombie from before.

Her pupils dilated as she stared at Fu Qing, her face showing a look of utter disbelief. After a long pause, she said, feigning grievance, "You said there were no ghosts in the school!!"

From the moment she asked if the boy was dead, her focus seemed a bit off...

Fu Qing explained calmly, "That's not a ghost, it's a zombie."

Sun Wei breathed a sigh of relief: "Oh, it's not a ghost, it's a zombie..."

"Wait, what's the difference?"

Can someone explain to her why there are zombies in the school?!

...

Ten minutes later, room 1111 of the girls' dormitory received a friendly delivery from the principal.

—A new roommate who is very good-looking, but for some reason has a blank stare and a vacant expression.

"Explain the situation to her and tell her to come to my office at nine o'clock tomorrow morning," Fu Qing said before decisively leaving.

Explanation is impossible; making her repeat such a long sentence is worse than sending her to fight zombies.

"Okay, okay, take care." Zhang Han bowed and scraped as she saw the principal off, indicating that she would complete the task. Then she closed the door and curiously looked at her new roommate, feeling that she looked very familiar.

Could it be a celebrity?

Shen Qingqing was holding Sun Wei's hand when she asked, "Didn't Xiaoshuang tell you anything?"

"She...she shared several novels with me, telling me to read them when I have free time," Sun Wei said absentmindedly. "I thought she was a pretty nice person, sharing book lists right off the bat..."

The two: "..."

Sun Wei: "What exactly happened? Could it be a real zombie?"

"Don't worry, don't worry, the zombies aren't real. They're called simulated zombies, tools we use for training." The two carefully chose their words, but before they could finish, Sun Wei had already relaxed: "That's good. What tools did you just say? Filming equipment from the movie club?"

Shen Qingqing: "No, it's not..."

Her words were interrupted by a series of "thump-thump" sounds coming from the balcony.

Zhang Han got up and pushed open the balcony door. At that moment, Sun Wei clearly saw a long, jet-black hair hanging upside down from upstairs!

The bright full moon was half-hidden by suddenly drifting dark clouds. Under the gloomy sky, the woman's long hair swayed slightly in the wind, creating a scene that was as terrifying as it could be.

Sun Wei heard a chilling voice coming from above: "Is... anyone... there...?"

Without saying a word, her vision went black, and she collapsed to the ground with a thud.

Shen Qingqing and Zhang Han: "!!!"

The "female ghost" on the balcony received no response, but persistently poked at their balcony door again with the clothesline pole in her hand. Then she put away the clothesline pole, brushed aside her long hair with her other hand, and revealed an upside-down face.

"You're all here, why aren't you answering me?"

"I need to borrow a hairdryer. Long hair is so hard to dry."

The girl complained.

Shen Qingqing: "..."

She tried her best to remain calm and said, "If possible, I hope you can use the door next time you borrow something. Also, didn't you return the safety harness from gym class?"

She knew this girl; she was from room 1211 upstairs.

The girl chuckled, "I forgot, I'll return it tomorrow. But going up the stairs is such a hassle, our dorm is so far from the stairs, it's easier to climb over—hey, Zhang Han, why are you crying?"

She was startled.

Zhang Han hugged Sun Wei, crying and sniffling, "Waaaaah, you scared our new roommate to death! You have to make it up to my roommate, waaaaah..."
