Chapter 121: Fox Courtyard Completed, Granny Shi Entrusts Her Orphan to Him

The light was jumping, bright red and faintly shaped like a fox.

When we got closer, we found that the pavilions and terraces were arranged in an orderly manner, like a wealthy family's home, but there were no walls blocking the way.

Lights lit up in the pavilions, illuminating the doors and windows. In the middle of the courtyard was an altar, seemingly dedicated to some deity, but from a distance, it was difficult to make out clearly.

A solid road extends out from the forest and leads directly to the pavilion. At the end of the road are four tall pillars, forming a mountain gate in the style of a memorial archway. Above the gate are three large golden characters "Fox Courtyard".

The three golden characters look as agile as a fox and graceful as a bird, with a unique atmosphere.

As Ning Caichen and Ma Junji approached the mountain road, they saw two pretty girls coming to greet them with lanterns in their hands.

When he saw the two of them, he covered his mouth and smiled, "You two gentlemen are here? Master Fox Club is already waiting in the courtyard."

Ning Caichen asked, "Does Master Fox know we are coming?"

The two fox girls laughed. "Master Fox is very powerful and has already calculated everything. If he hadn't known you two gentlemen were coming, you would still be wandering around in the fog."

Even before we met, he was already famous.

Ning Caichen and Ma Junji looked at each other in silence. Ma Junji said, "Please lead the way, young lady."

"Girl..." The two fox girls looked at each other and laughed again, covering their mouths.

"Sir, come with us."

The two girls had graceful figures, their dresses fluttered, their wrists were as white as frost, and they swayed as they walked.

Ning Caichen and Ma Junji took a look and then quickly looked away.

The two girls actually had fox tails hanging under their dresses, swaying behind them as they walked.

Even though they had anticipated this, Ning Caichen and Ma Junji were still worried.

The fox girl led the way inside, and they saw foxes in plain clothes busy at work in the courtyard. These foxes had no human form, but were half the height of a human, standing upright like animals. They were either adding oil to the fire or sweeping and dusting, just like servants.

The word "prisoner" was written on the back of their plain clothes.

Ning Caichen and Ma Junji looked at the fox prisoner, then looked at each other. In this place full of foxes, they were lucky to be traveling together and were able to suppress their fear.

The fox girl first led them into the courtyard, where there stood an altar.

Charcoal was burning in the brazier in front of the altar, and an incense burner in front of the altar was emitting wisps of smoke that rose into the sky and disappeared into thin air.

Standing in front of the altar was a tall man wearing a red Zen robe.

Only when they got closer did Ning Caichen and Ma Junji see that the man was handsome, like a god, and had an extraordinary demeanor.

Only his eyes were slightly green, with a hint of demonic energy.

When the man saw Ning Caichen and Ma Junji approaching, he bowed and said, "So it's you, sir. I apologize for not coming in to greet you."

Ning Caichen and Ma Junji could clearly feel that the two fox girls who were laughing before had become dignified. They bowed and stepped back, standing aside with lanterns in their hands.

Ning Caichen and Ma Junji returned the greeting, saying, "Greetings, Fox Fairy."

The fox fairy laughed and introduced herself, "My name is Gong Mengbi. What are your names?"

Ning Caichen and Ma Junji introduced themselves one by one.

Then the fox fairy who called herself Gong Mengbi said with emotion, "I have long heard from the Black and White Impermanence that you two are extraordinary and outstanding in literary talent. Seeing you today, I find it is indeed true."

"I don't know if the Black and White Impermanence have clearly told you that my Fox Academy is a place for fox spirits to study. I seek a teacher who is not only highly educated, but also treats everyone equally, without any discrimination based on their demonic qualities."

Ning Caichen said, "The fox is eager to learn, so why should we be reluctant to teach it?"

Ma Junji echoed, "I've heard there's a Rakshasa nation overseas, and in ancient times there was a land of adults. While their appearances may differ, their hearts are the same. If foxes are eager to learn, their wisdom and enlightenment are enlightened. Although their appearance may differ from that of humans, how are their hearts any different?"

The fox fairy smiled and nodded, saying loudly, "If that's the case, then why don't you come out and meet the master?"

Ning Caichen and Ma Junji saw the doors and windows open, and countless heads popped out from the pavilions and houses on the side.

Regardless of gender, they are all handsome and beautiful, which perfectly fits the image of a fox spirit in people's minds.

There are only a few who look different from ordinary people, or are too wealthy, or have cunning faces. I don’t know if it’s because of their magic or their heart.

These fox spirits walked to the front of the altar, with their tails wagging, and were whispering to each other with lustful eyes, or commenting and whispering.

Ning Caichen and Ma Junji suddenly felt nervous and started to murmur: These students don't seem to be so easy to teach.

The fox fairy said, "Why don't you greet me, sir?"

A group of fox spirits rose and fell and called out sparsely, "Greetings, sir."

Gong Mengbi shook his head and said, "Kang Wen, you must manage them well. If they disrupt the order, they will be severely punished."

Ning Caichen and Ma Junji saw a smart girl walking out from the fox spirit. The difference of this girl was that she could hide the fox tail.

The fox transforms, and it is difficult to hide its tail.

It’s not that they can’t hide, it’s just that it’s difficult, so when there’s no one around, these fox spirits never bother to do so.

Gong Mengbi introduced, "This is Kang Wen, the head of Fox Court, responsible for supervising these students. If the two gentlemen are not comfortable doing it, just let her do it."

Kang Wen bowed and said, "Hello, gentlemen."

Ning Caichen and Ma Junji also returned the greeting, and Kang Wen was very happy to see it.

Gong Mengbi waved his hand and said, "In the future, Mr. Ning and Mr. Ma will teach you how to read and write, and teach you the principles of being a good person. You must respect your teachers and never disobey them, and you are not allowed to act recklessly."

"Let's all go."

The foxes then jumped out of the window, crawled through the door, climbed up the stairs, and disappeared into the room.

Ning Caichen and Ma Junji immediately understood that these foxes could not be taught as ordinary students.

Sure enough, the fox fairy said, "Excuse me, gentlemen."

He explained, "For foxes, cultivating their wisdom is paramount. Gentlemen, your teaching needs to be tailored to the individual's needs. Besides teaching them to read and write, you should also discuss principles and human nature with them, so they know how to behave in society. However, foxes are different from humans, so I'm afraid I'll have to forgive any minor details."
