Chapter 164: Monsters are rampant
Yan Chixia's move showed extraordinary momentum.
The sword light illuminated the bleak courtyard. The dozen or so Rakshasa ghosts were frightened by the sword light, retreated with fear, and then pounced on them again with ferocity.
The pale light of the lantern shone on the loving parents and two brothers in the courtyard. The sad expressions on the faces of these four people were frozen like a mask.
Their backs suddenly split open, and demons with green eyes crawled out from the human skin. They were pitch black, had fangs and big ears, and their faces were like pigs. The human skin was like tight clothes, squeezing their trembling fat. The human faces hung on their chests, overflowing with absurd sadness.
The pig monster roared, saliva splashed, and pounced towards Ning Caichen and his group like a mountain of flesh.
Yan Chixia's face turned pale with rage. He no longer cared about his heroic sword-wielding posture. He grabbed Ning Caichen and Ma Junji and rushed to break open the door.
A swarm of monsters rushed out from the pale gate behind them and chased after them.
Ning Caichen could even smell the disgusting stench, and he and Yan Chixia, one on each side, carried Ma Junji and fled.
There seemed to be a breeze surrounding their feet, making them as light as a swallow, and they shook off the pig monster that was like a mountain of meat.
But the Rakshasa ghost flew extremely fast and soon caught up with him.
Yan Chixia's sword flashed, and he forced the Rakshasa ghost back, giving them some time to catch their breath.
As the three fled, Yan Chixia asked, "I didn't expect Brother Ning to be able to practice and master magic. This ability to move like the wind under his feet is really amazing. But can you go faster?"
Ning Caichen was about to retort, but in an instant he realized that it was Gong Mengbi who was secretly helping him. He smiled bitterly and was about to refuse, but the wind under his feet suddenly became stronger. They paused lightly, and the scenery on both sides became blurred, and they moved forward like the wind.
"Wonderful!" Yan Chixia laughed loudly, threw Ma Junji to Ning Caichen, turned around and swung his sword, the fire was like lightning, and once again split a Rakshasa who was chasing him into two pieces.
After forcing back the pursuing Rakshasa, Yan Chixia caught up with Ning Caichen and Ma Junji again.
Ning Caichen asked anxiously, "How are we going to get out?"
Yan Chixia said: "Return along the original route."
"Return the same way?" Ning Caichen gritted his teeth, his heart filled with ominous premonition.
The pale lanterns hanging everywhere illuminated the road. They rushed to the river bank. The stream was flowing silently in the darkness, like a silent lurking monster.
Pale white lotus lanterns floated on the stream, like twinkling eyes.
They ran towards the willow tree they came from, and before they reached the tree, they could already see young girls washing clothes by the river.
Their figures became extremely tall and graceful, with extremely long hair undulating like seaweed in the water. They leaned on each other by the stream, with slender arms, long legs, and plump and graceful bodies, which made people inexplicably associate them with snakes.
Only when they looked at Ning Caichen and the other two, their eyes were filled with terrible appetite and hatred, turning this charming atmosphere into a gloomy horror.
The monk robes they changed into were like human leather bags. A human figure seemed to be supported in the empty robes. They crawled out of the water, knelt on the ground and kowtowed to the girls, then rushed towards Ning Caichen and the other two with a roar.
Yan Chixia's face changed, and the sword flashed, stabbing at the monk's robe.
But a little bit of golden Buddha light appeared on the monk's robe, blocking the sword light.
The sword failed, and the monk was getting closer and closer. The scary Rakshasa also flew over. In the distance, the pig monster that was running like an earthquake was about to catch up.
Surrounded by enemies on all sides, Yan Chixia and Ning Caichen felt a chill in their hearts.
Ning Caichen suddenly raised his right hand and lightly touched the monk's robe that was blocking his way.
A spark flew like a firefly and landed on the monk's robe.
In a flash, the monk's robe was set on fire, and the raging flames penetrated into the collar and cuffs of the damp robe, and a vague human figure appeared in the robe.
The humanoid howled silently, as if it had lost its mind, and suddenly pounced on the girls on the river bank.
The monk pounced in front of one of the girls and tried to lick her feet like a dog.
The girl was afraid of the flames on the monk's robes and stepped back repeatedly with an expression of disgust and hatred.
Something like a snake seemed to emerge from the stream, pick up the monk's robe and drag it into the water.
The vague flame figure in the monk's robe was struggling and burning in the water, as if it was not afraid of being drowned.
The flames were dragged under the water, revealing a scarlet color.
The flaming figure struggled, and the flames gradually faded. Finally, as if the fuel was exhausted, only a monk's robe floated to the surface of the water.
The girl on the river bank and the monk who was trapped in front of Ning Caichen and his men were attracted by this sudden change. Yan Chixia spotted the flaw and grabbed the two of them and escaped through the gap.
The monks hurried over to stop them, but Ning Caichen raised his hand again and they retreated in haste.
Finally, Yan Chixia grabbed Ning Caichen and Ma Junji and brought them to the willow trees by the river.
The branches of the willow tree looked like snakes twisted in the wind, and a red-eyed crow stood on the branch.
"Wow--"
Accompanied by the shrill cry of a crow, Ning Caichen and the other two walked past the willow trees, and in an instant the world changed, from the dark orchid village to the mountain cemetery shrouded in dark clouds.
The wind howled in the mountains and forests, and the branches and leaves of the trees fluttered as if they were coming alive.
Ning Caichen and Yan Chixia were like frightened birds, startled by the old trees. They quickly picked up Ma Junji and ran back the way they came.
After passing through the ancient forest, we arrived at the cemetery. The wind disappeared here again, and a quiet and eerie atmosphere spread in the cemetery.
Ning Caichen's teeth were trembling. "Brother Yan, I hope nothing strange will happen again."
Before Yan Chixia could answer, the mounds of earth began to bulge upwards, as if something was trying to come out of the grave.
"Run!" Yan Chixia didn't dare to waste any words. He mounted Ma Junji and rushed to the cemetery, trying to cross the cemetery and go out.
Withered hands stretched out from the cemetery, the dead bodies sensing the presence of the living and inviting them to sleep with them. Skeletons, rotten and unrotten zombies emerged and chased them.
Fortunately, with the help of Qingfeng and the magic power of Yan Chixia, the corpses that crawled out of the graves did not catch up with them.
The three rushed out of the cemetery and finally saw a raised rock.
Ning Caichen and Yan Chixia stopped in front of the rock and saw four big characters written in vigorous strokes on the cliff: Deep in the shade of orchids.
These four characters seem to have a hazy precious light, and to the right of “Deep in the shade of orchids”, there seems to be a mural that has been eroded by wind.
Ning Caichen and Yan Chixia tried hard to identify the content of the mural, but they could not see clearly what it was.
The stench of the corpses chasing them became stronger and stronger. They did not dare to delay and rushed out of the cliff carving.
As soon as I took a step forward, everything in front of me became chaotic, and the surroundings were replaced by white mist.
Only in the distance, there seemed to be something different. A red light appeared and disappeared, as if indicating the direction they should go.
