Chapter 309: Stealing River Water and Worshipping the Lord
During this drought season, water is the most precious. Although the water level of Wujiang River has dropped a lot compared with previous years, it is good news that it has not been cut off.
There are farmlands on both sides of the Wujiang River. In theory, farmers should carry water for irrigation, but in reality, the poor farmers can only sigh at the water, hunchbacked, and dare not go to the Wujiang River to fetch water.
Gong Mengbi half-closed his eyes, pressed down the cloud, and found a farmer to ask questions.
The old man replied, "I dare not carry water. The Wu River is the private property of the Dragon King. If I carry water for irrigation without offering sacrifices and obtaining the Dragon King's permission, I will be punished by the Dragon King."
Gong Mengbi suddenly felt angry, but he sneered, knowing that the Wujiang Dragon King had a good way to die.
Gong Mengbi asked, "What about your drinking water?"
The old man said, "You can draw water, but you can't take too much. If you are discovered, it will bring trouble to the whole village."
Gong Mengbi sighed, "When the weather is good, there is no Dragon King's blessing. When there is a severe drought, the Dragon King comes out to harm people."
The old man was startled and said, "My dear young man, don't talk nonsense. If someone hears you, it will be fatal."
Gong Mengbi said: "What a great majesty!"
The old man just sighed deeply, his face wrinkled with deep helplessness and fear. He just said: "The Dragon King is a righteous god. He will protect us. He will protect us."
He muttered a few words, as if convincing himself, and said in a more serious tone, "The Dragon King will protect us!"
Gong Mengbi sighed softly and said, "Thank you for clearing up my doubts, old man."
The old man looked back and found that the handsome young man was gone.
He couldn't even remember what he had asked himself just now.
Gong Mengbi sneered and dived directly into the Wujiang River. Then mist and haze rose up, and the water of the Wujiang River seemed to be swallowed by some terrible beast and continued to decrease.
His action immediately alarmed the monsters patrolling in the water.
A catfish demon approached with a steel fork in hand, only to see a jade-like clam slowly opening and closing in the water, gulping down the river water. Shocked and enraged, he immediately stopped it, shouting, "Where did you come from, fellow cultivator? Don't you know that the Wu River is under the jurisdiction of the Dragon King? How dare you steal the river water?"
The clam suddenly stopped, the mist gradually receding, and from it stepped a handsome man in white, with a jade-like face. He bowed and said, "I came from the north and am heading to the East China Sea. I am passing through a precious land and I do not know the rules. Please forgive me."
As he spoke, a group of underwater demons came and surrounded him, saying, "Stealing river water is a heinous crime. Why don't you surrender?"
Gong Mengbi raised his hands and said, "Ignorance is not a crime. I am willing to compensate."
The leading catfish said, "If that's the case, follow me to see the king."
So Gong Mengbi was escorted to the underwater Dragon Palace.
Before reaching the Dragon Palace, Gong Mengbi smelled a strange fragrance. Following the scent, he saw a magnificent scene of mist and clouds, full of spiritual charm. The magnificent mist and clouds surrounded the underwater Dragon Palace, showing all kinds of wonderful scenes.
Gong Mengbi was shocked. This was the incense burning in the human world turning into smoke and haze. It could be said to be majestic, but it showed more of the immense wealth.
Incense has various wonderful uses and is often paid as a stipend to the gods.
Even the five ghosts that Gong Mengbi refined himself had to be nurtured with incense and refined into gods.
Such incense turns into mist and light, just like the outer wall gatehouse built with golden bricks, showing unparalleled nobility.
General Catfish escorted Gong Mengbi through the smoke and haze created by incense and arrived at the Dragon Palace.
Compared to the Qiantang Dragon Palace, the Wujiang Dragon Palace was certainly far inferior, lacking its exquisiteness and grandeur. Although it was also a Dragon Palace, with the added richness of incense and smoke, it struck Gong Mengbi as deliberately ostentatious, immediately making it seem inferior.
General Catfish took him in, and he saw constant singing and dancing in the main hall. The clam and snail girls had slender bodies, and the snake and fish girls had graceful postures. The water god of Wujiang River enjoyed this beautiful scene and was in high spirits.
General Catfish asked him to wait outside and went in alone to report.
But after a moment, I heard a voice from inside: "Bring it up!"
The sounds of orchestral music stopped, and the clam girl, snail girl, snake girl and fish girl left the stage one by one, standing in the corner of the hall waiting for orders.
Gong Mengbi was pointed at with swords and knives by several shrimp soldiers and taken into the hall. He saw a middle-aged man with a white face and no beard looking at him at the top of the hall. His eyes were like flames, stinging and painful.
But when Gong Mengbi was seen by this gaze, he couldn't help but reveal a vague water appearance, like a clam shell, and then took on the shape of a dragon.
A puff of smoke flew out of Gong Mengbi's sleeves, blocking the man's sight, making him look as if he were trapped in an illusion.
The Wujiang River God showed a hint of surprise and asked, "Are you the one who stole the water?"
Gong Mengbi bowed and said, "My name is Shuiyue. I have attained enlightenment through the power of Shenlong. I originally cultivated in the north, but the drought has become severe. The river I rely on has dried up, so I cannot go south to find a new water source."
"I was originally going to the East China Sea to see if I could find a place to stay. I passed by this precious land and was delighted to see the water. I had no intention of stealing it. Please forgive me."
Upon hearing that he was a mirage dragon, the Wujiang River God immediately showed some respect and said, "So that's how it is. Since you didn't intentionally steal the water, then forget it. I am the Lord of the Wujiang River and in charge of its waters. Coincidentally, there is a severe drought this year, so I have to be cautious."
Gong Mengbi quickly said, "Thank you, Dragon God!"
The Wujiang River God smiled and said, "You are a guest, please take a seat."
Gong Mengbi readily followed suit, sitting below the Wu River water god. He revealed a touch of envy, saying, "The Dragon God is so good at controlling the waters; no wonder we can see such a magnificent spectacle. The incense smoke and clouds are truly unique to me."
The Wujiang River God was tickled, and he smiled with a reserved expression, saying, "It's nothing. There are just more sacrifices to pray for rain during droughts."
Gong Mengbi said, "I went to the East China Sea to see if I could make a career, but compared to the Dragon God, I'm afraid I'll never be able to compare to him in this lifetime."
The Wujiang River God said, "The East China Sea is vast, and I'm afraid there are many talented people, but it's really difficult to stand out."
Gong Mengbi looked at the Wujiang River God, gritted his teeth, and said, "I wonder if Lord Dragon God is still short of manpower? Is there anything you can do with me? If you don't mind, I am willing to join you and serve you."
The Wujiang River God carefully examined Gong Mengbi. This jade-faced young man looked sincere and was also a dragon descendant. He was truly a master. Who wouldn't be tempted to serve such a master? Who would be willing to refuse?
Even the water god of Wujiang River cannot do it.
He showed some joy and said happily: "I couldn't ask for more! I couldn't ask for more!"
He personally descended from the throne and toasted Gong Mengbi, saying, "I am truly grateful that you do not despise my small family fortune in Wujiang and are willing to abandon the vastness of the East China Sea to come and live in my small stream."
Gong Mengbi drank the wine and said, "Master, please don't embarrass me. You are the sacred one in the water. It is my blessing to be able to practice with you."
The water god of Wujiang River clinked glasses with him and laughed heartily.
