Chapter 33: Playing Tricks
The Yaksha ghost is extremely swift, shuttling through the small holy land.
He walked on the wind almost the entire time, only occasionally stepping on the roof or leaves, without making any sound.
Only Xiao Qi, the fox-hearted child tucked into his waist, could feel the wind whistling past his ears.
Late at night, the countryside was quiet.
Only occasionally one or two guard dogs would see the Yaksha ghost leaping through the air, but they did not dare to bark.
He waited until the Yaksha ghost left before he shouted twice in a timid manner.
After passing through Xiaosheng Township and heading east, you will reach Zhaojiazhuang.
Sixty percent of the people in Zhaojiazhuang have the surname Zhao. Xiaoqi's family is a wealthy one among them, mainly engaged in wood carving, bamboo carving and the like.
Yaksha Ghost placed Fox Heart Xiao Qi at the door of the old house and said, "I'm going back first. Be careful."
Fox Heart Xiao Qi bowed and thanked him, saying, "I'll treat you to a drink some other day."
The Yaksha ghost waved his hand and disappeared into the night.
Fox-hearted Xiao Qi looked left and right at the door of the old house, giving an ambiguous smile.
Fox Heart Xiao Qi started knocking on the door.
“Knock knock knock—”
The knock on the door was unusually clear in the night, echoing in the old house.
“Knock knock knock—”
“Knock knock knock—”
Fox-hearted Xiao Qi had clearly stopped, but the knocking sound continued in the old house.
It seemed to be at the main door, it seemed to be at the side door, it seemed to be in the living room, and it seemed to be at the door of the room.
Xiao Qi's great uncle lived in the old house, along with a servant.
The elderly uncle was startled by the knock on the door and called out, "Ah Ming, is there someone knocking at the door?"
Ah Ming was sleeping in the outer room of his uncle's room. He was already shivering. Upon hearing this, he replied with a trembling voice, "It seems so."
My uncle's heart skipped a beat and he was silent for a while.
“Knock knock knock—”
The knocking didn't stop and it sounded like it was coming from outside the door.
"Uncle?" A Ming asked softly, "Do you want to go take a look?"
The uncle was silent for a moment and said, "Let's take a look."
Amin carefully opened the door, poked one eye out and looked outside, but saw nothing.
He breathed a sigh of relief; there was no one in the yard.
“Knock knock knock—”
The knock on the door sounded again. Amin shuddered and felt his lower abdomen swell up, making him feel like urinating.
"Uncle, someone is knocking on the door."
“Knock knock knock—”
The knock on the door was a little urgent, as if there was something important.
The uncle put on his clothes, lit the oil lamp, and said, "Let's go and take a look."
Ah Ming supported his uncle to the door and asked, "Who is it?"
The knocking suddenly stopped.
Amin swallowed, opened the bolt and looked outside.
It was a pitch-black night, with only the wind blowing the leaves swaying, and not a single person in sight.
"No one." Amin suddenly felt a chill on his spine, his voice trembling a little, he looked at his uncle.
The uncle remained calm and scolded, "Why don't you close the door when no one is around?"
Amin closed the door and locked it, and there was no more knocking sound.
Amin heard his uncle breathe a sigh of relief, and he helped his uncle walk towards the room.
“Tattattatt——”
It's the sound of shoes stepping on the ground.
Amin and his uncle stopped at the same time, and the sound of their shoes stepping on the ground also stopped.
My uncle felt a little tired and suspicious.
The two people hurried back to the room, their footsteps becoming hurried.
“Tattattatt——”
A Ming locked the door and finally felt at ease.
He turned around to look at his great uncle, and his whole body seemed to be under a spell.
The oil lamp was dim, and my uncle couldn't see that Amin was trembling all over, his eyes were lifeless, his upper and lower teeth were knocking against each other, and he had bitten his tongue.
But Amin could see clearly that there was someone standing behind his uncle.
The man looked at Amin in the shadow of his great uncle and smiled at him.
"If you dare to speak, I will kill you." Amin even understood what that smile meant.
"Go to sleep quickly, it's almost dawn." The uncle walked towards the inner room holding an oil lamp. The figure followed behind the uncle, but he was unaware of it.
Amin crawled into the bed, buried his head in the quilt, and trembled all over.
My uncle went into the inner room, put the oil lamp on the table, took off his clothes and went to bed.
"call--"
The oil lamp was blown out.
My uncle stopped pulling the quilt, and his palms and back were sweating.
A little moonlight came in through the window, so the room was not completely dark.
There seemed to be a hazy shadow standing by the bed, looking at my uncle.
"Why is there wind?" my uncle muttered to himself and crawled into bed to sleep.
He squeezed his eyes shut, pretending he would soon fall asleep.
But he felt that his body was getting heavier and heavier, making it hard for him to breathe.
The uncle collapsed. He opened his eyes and asked tremblingly, "Is Xiao Erzi back?"
The weight on my body suddenly disappeared.
"call--"
The oil lamp suddenly lit up, not a bright yellow flame, but a long, green flame.
The light illuminated the hazy shadows beside the bed.
It’s Xiao Qi.
His face was as pale as powder, without a trace of blood.
The lips are red and the teeth are white, the lips are as red as blood and the teeth are as white as knives.
A pair of eyes were as black as ink, with a green glow.
The dim green light shone on Xiao Qi's face, revealing a cold green color.
"Uncle, why are you killing me?"
My uncle shivered, and he just felt very cold and unconscious.
I just felt a great blockage in my heart, as if it were filled with lead.
He said in horror: "It's not me who wants to harm you, it's your brother."
"Your father left you half of his fortune, but you're a fool. How could your brother be willing to accept that?"
Fox Heart Xiao Qi laughed, revealing his white teeth: "So you helped him to harm me."
The uncle suddenly burst into tears and said, "Don't blame me, don't blame me. I'm old and I still need your brother to support me."
"I didn't want to come back to find you, but the King of Hell wouldn't accept me." Fox Heart Xiao Qi looked at his uncle and asked, "Uncle, I've lost my soul and have nowhere to go. The wind makes me so cold, so cold."
The uncle's face suddenly turned pale. He rolled off the bed and kowtowed to Xiao Qi: "It is our Zhao family who has wronged you."
Fox Heart Xiao Qi lowered his head, staring at his uncle with a pale face: "Where did my soul go?"
The uncle stepped back suddenly, trying to distance himself from Hu Xin Xiao Qi, but bumped into the bed.
