Chapter 421: Moonlight, Be Cautious
But Qiong Niang lived in seclusion and rarely showed up, and Bai Xianglong did not have the courage to go to Shangfang Mountain to tease her.
White Elephant Dragon looked at the two young men beside the Holy Mother of Shangfang and Qiong Niang, his tone inevitably filled with sourness and disdain. He said, "Not everyone is as fortunate as this wolf and snake, blessed with close attendants. Most of the wild spirits and monsters of Shangfang Mountain have joined the Five-Directions God's army as soldiers, ready to be dispatched at any time. They don't have the freedom we have."
Three Thousand Years Old smiled but said nothing. Compared to the White Elephant Dragon, a white dragon, he had been the Prime Minister of the Water Palace his entire life and was a true Shinto descendant. Naturally, he looked down on the mountain spirits and monsters around the Five-Directional God.
Only the Great Immortal Jin Ting felt a little emotional when he looked at the two monsters kneeling beside the Virgin Mary above, massaging her shoulders and legs.
These two monsters are sweet-talkers and good at dealing with people. They don't care about face and serve the Holy Mother even more eagerly than they serve their own grandmother, making the Holy Mother laugh from ear to ear.
However, Qiong Niang couldn't stand these two flatterers, so she just closed her ears and pretended not to hear anything.
Soon, all the guests arrived, and King Shicheng began to preach, talking about the passage about Moonlight Bodhisattva in the Medicine Buddha Sutra.
Moonlight Bodhisattva, also known as Moon Purity Bodhisattva and Moonlight All-Illuminating Bodhisattva, is the right attendant of Medicine Buddha, and is able to hold the treasure of Medicine Buddha's true Dharma.
Praise the Bodhisattva of Moonlight, and say that the Bodhisattva of Moonlight and the Bodhisattva of Sunlight protect the Great Compassion Mantra. If the practitioner who recites the Great Compassion Mantra can also recite the Dharani of the Bodhisattva of Moonlight, the Bodhisattva of Moonlight will come to protect him, so that he can eliminate all obstacles and illnesses, accomplish all good deeds, and stay away from all kinds of fear.
Medicine Buddha talked about Moonlight Bodhisattva, then talked about Dharani Mantra, and then talked about Great Compassion Mantra.
King Shicheng casually chanted the mantra and paid homage to Moonlight Bodhisattva, and gradually a Zen light emerged, illuminating the entire courtyard like the shining moon.
The Immortal Jinting had no knowledge of Buddhism. The only Buddhist teaching he knew was the Vimalakirti Sutra he learned from Monk Zhenru of Lanyin Temple. It could create the realm of reality and illusion, and could open up the void and grow mustard seeds. At this time, when he listened to King Shicheng reciting the Dharani Mantra of Moonlight Bodhisattva, he was actually slightly moved and could faintly echo the old monk's moon-phase Zen light.
King Shicheng glanced at the Immortal Jinting in surprise, and then he understood that this fox demon was practicing the Moon Method, and he smiled happily.
The old monk was completely open about his teachings, chanting mantras and sutras, demonstrating every ritual of respect and reverence. His wonderful Dharma manifested itself, and his supernatural powers emerged naturally. It's no wonder that all the practitioners he invited were so eager to listen. Even if they didn't practice Buddhism, they could still benefit greatly from learning by analogy.
If your heart is devoted to Buddhism, like the Holy Mother above, you will naturally find a way to seek the truth.
The Immortal Jinting asked the young monk who was serving beside him, "Does the Great King Shicheng often preach the Dharma? Can you just give up this righteous Dharma?"
The young monk smiled and said, "Your Majesty often says that good deeds bring good results. If you can help people to seek purity and attain liberation, even Bodhisattvas will be pleased."
The Immortal Jin Ting nodded and said, "Master, your righteousness is high."
When the young monk heard this, he also became happy.
King Shicheng preached the Dharma and concluded with the Twelve Great Vows of Medicine Buddha.
The practitioners in Xiufeng Temple thanked King Shicheng and left one after another, ending the Dharma Assembly.
Those who had something to gain went forward to ask King Shicheng for advice, and once their doubts were resolved, they quickly left.
There were also a few people who came to pay their respects to the Virgin Mary and try to establish a relationship with her. Whether they knew her or not, they all tried to make themselves familiar to the old lady.
King Shicheng answered the questions of several fellow Taoists, and after he had some free time, he came to entertain the Holy Mother of Shangfang.
Shangfang Shengmu smiled and said, "Your Majesty, your Buddhist teachings are profound and have benefited me immensely. Last time, I sent someone to invite Your Majesty to Shangfang Mountain to preach the Dharma to my children. I hope Your Majesty will come to my Shangfang Mountain when you have some free time."
King Shicheng: "How dare I refuse the invitation of the Holy Mother? I will go to the Shangfang Mountain in a few days."
The Holy Mother laughed and said, "As the saying goes, the Buddha's teachings are boundless. My children have violent tempers. If the Zen master can influence them through his teachings, it would be like having them as our parents again."
King Shicheng waved his hands quickly and said, "I dare not. The gods are so powerful that they are willing to listen to the teachings of an old monk like me. It is my honor."
The Holy Mother said, "Then it's settled. I've troubled Your Majesty for so long today, so I'll be leaving now."
"I'll see the Virgin Mary off."
Qiong Niang supported her mother, and the two monsters served her on the left and right, gradually disappearing into the night.
King Shicheng stood at the gate of Xiufeng Temple. The moonlight shone through the mountains and forests, illuminating the mountain road and casting many mottled and strange shadows.
The Immortal Jin Ting and the King Shi Cheng were looking in the same direction, watching the visitors from the upper mountain leave, but they didn't find any clues.
The Holy Mother of Shangfang looked like an ordinary old Buddhist lady, nothing special about her. The Immortal Jin Ting didn't dare to pry into her cultivation, but judging from her aura alone, she was considered quite good at the sixth rank.
As for Qiong Niang, one could only tell that she had a pure aura and that she was someone who followed the right path.
How strange and bizarre.
Before he could think, the King of Stone City had already turned around, and sensing his gaze, he smiled and came forward, saying, "Thank you, Great Immortal, for your presence today."
The Immortal Jin Ting said, "Your Majesty's teachings have benefited me greatly."
King Shicheng smiled and said, "The Immortal has wisdom and is also a person with a connection to Buddha."
The Thunder Officer exhaled from his nose and sneered.
King Shicheng looked over and asked, "What are you laughing at, sir?"
The Thunder Officer said, "I'm just laughing at your dim eyesight. The Immortal Jin Ting possesses profound magical powers and is a true demon king. How could he possibly have a connection with Buddhism?"
King Shicheng laughed and said, "Buddha is not outside but within. Everyone has Buddha nature. The Immortal Jinting has a deep wisdom, so how could he not have a connection with Buddha?"
The Thunder Officer was even more unconvinced. This demon, the Jinting Great Immortal, was ruthless and arrogant. How could he possibly have any mercy?
If he can become a Buddha, then Grandpa Black Dragon can also sit in the Buddhist temple.
King Shicheng knew from his expression that he didn't believe it.
