Chapter 741: The Yin Book of Ghost Control

Chapter 741: The Yin Book of Ghost Control

The three brothers of the Shenhan family came to the old scholar's house again to keep an eye on him.

During the day, when there were too many people around, they dared not show up themselves, so they would attach little ghosts to a few weak women and children to keep watch on their behalf. At night, they would go out in person, waiting for the fox demon to appear and then kill it immediately.

The old scholar turned off his lamp late, and a little residual light shone through the crack in the door, but it was barely visible.

The three brothers yawned constantly, their days and nights were reversed, and they felt listless. They couldn't help but curse the old scholar and the fox demon.

Suddenly a cool breeze blew, and the cold air rushed from the spine to the top of the head. They shivered at the same time in different positions.

At some point, a nine-foot-tall ghost wearing green clothes and a green crown appeared in front of the old scholar's door. The ghost's face could not be seen clearly, but its eerie ghost aura pierced the heart and made people tremble all over.

The old scholar's fence could not stop the ghost. The ghost pushed open the fence and came to the door. Then he said to himself, "So he is a scholar with a refined literary spirit."

Then he knocked lightly on the door and asked, "Where is Sun Wenyuan?"

The old scholar was still reading at night with a lamp on. Sun Wenyuan transformed into a fox and snuggled up to the old scholar's desk. He was awakened by the call and looked outside.

The old scholar looked at the fox, and the fox said, "It seems to be Mr. Qing."

Sun Wenyuan transformed into a human form, his face filled with joy. He straightened his clothes and said, "Sir, I'll go see him."

The old scholar stood up and said, "I'll go with you."

As he spoke, the old scholar stretched out his hand and asked Sun Wenyuan to support him, actually protecting Sun Wenyuan by his side.

When the old scholar opened the door, he was frightened by the tall ghost.

This ghost god is much taller than an ordinary person, with a woody aura from the deep mountains and old forests. His face has both the ferocity of a ghost and the majesty of a god. He is unshakable and can make people's hearts waver.

Mr. Qing did not move, allowing the old man to catch his breath.

Sun Wenyuan had already seen Mr. Qing's true appearance and bowed, saying, "Greetings, Mr. Qing."

Mr. Qing's eyes fell on the wound on his chest and said, "Your letter has been sent back to Fox Court. Dean Kang reported it to the master, and the master wrote back to you and ordered me to deliver it to you."

Sun Wenyuan excitedly took the letter from Mr. Qing and said, "It turned out that the teacher personally wrote back to me."

Mr. Qing said, "My lord has instructed that while your intentions are good, you must still be cautious. If you cannot protect yourself, how can you spread the Dharma and establish faith?"

Sun Wenyuan looked ashamed and said, "I'm sorry to bother you, Master."

Mr. Qing nodded and said, "I have delivered the message. I will not stay for long."

Seeing that the old scholar had recovered, Mr. Qing nodded slightly and said, "Old sir, you have a literary aura and have grasped the true meaning of reading. This is truly rare."

It was the first time that the old scholar was praised by ghosts and gods, and extremely complicated emotions surged in his heart.

Without waiting for him to speak, Mr. Qing stepped back. His figure disappeared, but the voice remained.

"There are a few pairs of eyes hiding outside the house. I'll take care of them for you."

As soon as he finished speaking, Sun Wenyuan's ears moved and he quickly climbed onto the roof. He heard three screams coming from not far away. The gloomy wood smell dissipated in the wind and soon subsided.

The old scholar couldn't hear, so he waited for Sun Wenyuan to turn over and asked, "What's wrong?"

Sun Wenyuan said, "They are the three sons of the shaman. They must have been dealt with by Mr. Qing."

Sun Wenyuan helped the old scholar into the room and opened Gong Mengbi's reply letter. The fox characters on the letter were jumping. The old scholar looked at it from the side but could not understand it.

"What kind of text is this?"

"This is fox script. The Dharma cannot be passed on indiscriminately. What the Master taught is all fox script. Even if someone gets it, it won't cause any trouble."

"What did you say?"

"It is the method of controlling ghosts in the Yin Book."

Sun Wenyuan looked at the sky and said, "Sir, can you lend me your bronze mirror?"

The old scholar had a bronze mirror. He pointed at it and said, "You can use it."

Sun Wenyuan dug the soil in front of the door, silently chanted the magic spell, and drew the moonlight outside the window to fall on the bronze mirror. Using water as a medium and the moon as a guide, he polished the bronze mirror to a shine, and engraved the names of the twelve moon gods on the edge of the bronze mirror.

The old scholar was amazed. Sun Wenyuan explained, "The Emperor of the Moon controls the records of the dead in the Yin Palace. He uses a mirror to represent the moon, which can illuminate ghosts. These twelve are the names of the Moon God, and they can obtain the Moon God's protection."

Sun Wenyuan looked around the room again, and finally he set his eyes on the old scholar's paperweight and said, "Sir, can I borrow your paperweight for a moment?"

The old scholar agreed, watched him carve on the paperweight, and asked, "What is this for?"

"I'm carving the Taishan curse."

"The bright moon controls ghosts and gods, and Mount Tai suppresses ghosts and gods. With these two as sacrifices, the old ghost is about to die."

The old scholar saw his eyes moving around the room again and said with a smile, "Take whatever you like."

Sun Wenyuan smiled and said, "Sir, please go to bed early. I'd like to borrow your lamp."

"What is this for?"

"Borrow the fire to start a sacrifice and help me exorcise the demon."

The old scholar was coaxed by him to climb onto the bed, and saw him holding the oil lamp and walking outside.

The old scholar raised half of his body and said, "You have to bring the things back to me. I need to read tomorrow night and I can't see without a light."

"You have to bring it back to me."

Sun Wenyuan held the lamp, bowed to the old scholar, and turned to walk out.

The old scholar tossed and turned, unable to fall asleep.

The door was closed, but it couldn't lock his heart.

The old scholar had seen many strange and bizarre things in his life, and only this fox was by his side, making him a close friend regardless of age.

After enduring a hard night, the old scholar did not even hear himself sighing.

Unable to bear it any longer, the old scholar climbed out of bed, opened the door, and sat by it.

He sat from the pitch black night until the daylight gradually came, until his hands and feet began to tremble slightly.

Finally, before dawn, a figure limped over from a distance.

The old scholar stood up by holding the door frame and watched the figure open the fence gate and walk to his side. He was covered in dust and blood, and turned over his palm in front of him, revealing a lamp.

Sun Wenyuan bowed and said, "Sir, the jade is returned intact to Zhao."

The old scholar ignored the broken lamp, helped him up, and asked, "How is it?"

"It's a long story. I set up the formation ahead of time to lure the old ghost out, and he took a few hits. But after he entered the formation, I was the one who subdued him. I used the bronze mirror to reflect his soul, the paperweight to suppress the ghost, and burned all his Taoist skills. I then sent him to Mount Tai to be punished."

Sun Wenyuan showed a hint of pride on his face.

The old scholar said, "I'm asking you."

Blood was still oozing out of several bloody holes on Sun Wenyuan's body. His face was frighteningly pale, but his eyes were very bright.

"Your life is safe, you just need to sleep a few more days."

"That's good."

The old scholar murmured to himself, "That's good."

Ignoring the mirror, paperweight and oil lamp that had fallen on the ground, he carried the fox that had curled up in front of the door into the room and put it away before he cleaned up the things scattered in front of the door.

He fetched some clean water to clean the fox's wound and bandaged it carefully, which made the old scholar so tired that he felt dizzy.

He laughed at himself and said, "I almost died of exhaustion because of you."

The old scholar climbed back into bed, and soon, a faint snoring sound was heard.
