Chapter 813: Yanxing Mountain, Luohua Bay
Yanxing Mountain is not high, located to the north of Yanming Lake. Birds fly back and forth, the grass and trees are lush, and the scenery is beautiful.
The dragon carriage landed outside the gate of Fox Courtyard. The inspectors got off the cloud carriage and saw that the gate of Fox Courtyard was closed, hidden among the ancient trees of Yanxing Mountain. The formation gate opened silently.
Dr. Hu asked curiously, "Why are you staying indoors in broad daylight? Go and pass on the message!"
The psychic doctor came forward and knocked on the door. She stood in the forest and shouted, "Where is the dean of the Fox Court of Yanxing Mountain? The inspector of the Sky Fox Court has arrived. Why haven't you opened the gate yet?"
The psychic doctor, also surnamed Hu, was petite, but his words pierced through the clouds, cracked the rocks, stirred the waves, and undulated the forests. To a human ear, it sounded human, but to a fox's ear, it sounded like both a fox and a bird, stirring like the cry of a roc.
Dr. Hu twirled his beard and smiled, "The sound of the Peng bird pierces the clouds. I have grasped the true meaning of bird language."
Dr. Psychic laughed and said, "As long as I don't embarrass you."
The sound of piercing the clouds swept through the forest. In just a moment, the trees in the forest changed, smoke curled up, and the gate of the Fox Courtyard in Yanxing Mountain was revealed.
Two old foxes with pale faces and panicked eyes came hurriedly. When they saw everyone, they bowed and cried, "Welcome to the Heavenly Fox Court's envoy. We hope the envoy can save us!"
Dr. Hu frowned and asked, "What's going on?"
The two old foxes told the whole story one after another like pouring beans out of a bamboo tube.
"Our dean was captured by King Luohua!"
Yanming Lake is lush with water and grass, irrigating several villages and producing abundant produce. Further downstream, there's a wonderful spot called Luohua Bay.
The name is well chosen because there is a steep cliff to the south of Luohua Bay. When you take Luohua Ridge, you will see fruit trees leaning against the cliff. When you sail past in spring, you can often see fallen flowers. When you sail past in autumn, you can often see fallen fruits.
The flowers and fruits are lush, the fish and shrimps are plentiful, and the scenery is pleasant. It is famous far and wide. During every festival, men and women come here to enjoy the scenery and socialize.
Such a beautiful place is naturally not without gods. There is a Fallen Flower Temple on the ridge. The Fallen Flower King is enshrined in the temple, and he blesses good weather, harmonious marriages, lovers finally getting married, and even having many children.
It sounds like a righteous god, but in fact it is just the opposite.
"The Falling Flower King is a ghost that has lived for many years. He fears no sun, moon, or wind, and is adept at playing tricks on the living. Local lovers seeking a harmonious marriage often worship him in a secluded area of Falling Flower Ridge, chanting mantras for him. Once the mantras are chanted, he will appear, transforming into the person the believer is thinking of, engaging in intercourse with them and stealing their essence. This old ghost deceives both parties, and occasionally facilitates a marriage, so he is regarded as a god."
"If you wish to have a child, you invite this ghost into your home. It will act according to the law, and you will end up with a ghost baby, which will die unexpectedly."
"My dean didn't want to offend him, but this ghost has been getting more and more rampant recently. He wants to build a palace and capture spirits and monsters to use as slaves. He caught us, and two foxes were swept away when they came down the mountain. They were imprisoned in the haunted house and suffered."
"The dean couldn't just sit back and watch. She was also worried that the old ghost would harm the fox's cultivation. She told me to seal the mountain and wait for you to inspect. She went to get the person first, but she left three days ago and hasn't returned yet. I'm afraid she's met with an accident."
"Please help me, my envoys!"
The two old foxes were crying as they spoke, fearing that the dean's life was in danger.
As they were talking, more Mr. Fox and his son Fox came out one after another, prostrating themselves on the ground and begging the messenger for help.
When Dr. Hu saw the foxes coming to ask for help, they were all so sincere. It was obvious that the dean was very popular among the people, and he felt very emotional for a moment.
Dr. Hu turned his gaze towards Gong Mengbi and asked, "Mingfu, are you willing to take this trip?"
Gong Mengbi nodded and said, "That's exactly what I wish for."
Chun Wanyi volunteered, "I'd like to go too."
Dr. Hu laughed and said, "How could you, an old ghost from the mountains, deserve the attention of two talented people? Go and come back quickly."
Gong Mengbi looked at one of the old foxes and said, "Sir, please show me the way."
The old fox cheered up, shook his clothes, and said, "Your Excellency, please come this way!"
Gong Mengbi stretched out his hand and grasped in the air, then gently pulled it, as if pulling a piece of silk hanging out to dry on a bamboo pole. The soft silk stretched out along his hand, fluttered, and turned into a long wind passing by.
The long wind blew up the old fox, and Gong Mengbi's red clothes spread out, like clouds in the wind, floating away.
Chun Wanyi called out, "Wait for me." Then she stepped on the long wind called by Gong Mengbi and followed on the clouds.
Another old fox, with a worried look on his face, asked, "The Fallen Flower King is quite skilled, and these two envoys are quite young. Are they really safe?"
Dr. Hu laughed and said, "You don't know their names, otherwise you wouldn't be so worried. One is Mr. Mingfu, the author of the Fox Book, and the other is the apple of the eye of the Chun family. They are not to be trifled with."
"Mr. Mingfu, who wrote the Fox Book!"
They had no idea about Chun's beloved daughter, but they were very familiar with Gong Mingfu, the author of the Fox Book!
"The dean is saved!"
Dr. Hu glanced at the cheering fox and couldn't help but think, "From all this investigation, it's clear that Gong Mingfu holds a high reputation. Right now, these wild foxes are nothing, but if they become a force to be reckoned with in the future, who knows what this kid will become."
He couldn't help but feel a little worried about the future, but his thoughts kept turning around: the goddess, the Sky Fox Academy, the four great families, and Xun Jijiu. Just thinking about it gave him a headache, so he could only sigh: "Forget it, at my age, I have been a teacher for so many years, why should I bother with this matter?"
He just smiled gently and said, "Why don't you go back and prepare for the inspection? Your dean will be back soon."
"Welcome the envoy!"
"Your Excellency, this way please."
On the other side, Gong Mengbi took the old fox Huafeng and headed straight for Luohualing.
It was autumn at that time. Luohua Bay meandered eastward. On the ridge, wild peach trees stretched out from the steep cliffs, or simply took root on the cliffs.
Small red fruits hang among the peach leaves. Birds peck at them from time to time on the trees, stepping on the ripe peaches, which fall into the Luohua Bay, splashing water and attracting fish to eat them, which is quite interesting.
The old fox pointed and said, "The Fallen Flower Temple is right on the ridge."
In order to avoid disturbing the evil demon and causing it to do something desperate, Gong Mengbi and Chun Wanyi did not rush directly to Luohua Ridge, but instead sent down clouds not far from Luohua Bay.
Chun Wanyi looked around and suggested, "Since that old ghost likes to play matchmaker, why not put on a show with him and lure him out of the house? Then everything will be fine."
She looked at Gong Mengbi, her two talking eyes smiling, and said, "I'm sorry, Mr. Wrong, you're doing some tricks with me."
She twisted her body and transformed into a pretty young lady, bowing to Gong Mengbi.
