Chapter 748: Cleansing the Blade
Although the warriors are strong and healthy, with abundant energy and blood, their minds are not sharp and they can be deceived by magic.
Miao Fox took this opportunity to show up twice, once when he was disguised as a monk while Young Master Zhang was visiting Jingta Temple, and once at Young Master Zhang's home.
In the former case, a monk from Jingta Temple really came when they were halfway through their conversation, so they had to retreat to avoid a conflict.
The latter entered the Zhang family and knocked the doorman unconscious. When he was blowing smoke into the door, he was caught by the young master of the Zhang family who was still pondering the strange book in the middle of the night. He originally wanted to rely on his magic power to rob the house, but he didn't expect to alarm the patrolling Night God and had to retreat.
The last time it appeared was outside the carriage of the young master of the Zhang family. It asked a beggar to deliver a letter, saying that this book was a fox book that recorded the methods of fox cultivation and begged the young master of the Zhang family to return it.
But after the previous few times, the young master of the Zhang family became extremely vigilant and didn't believe it at all.
The Miao Fox Society had no choice but to change its method. They took advantage of the absence of the parade gods to make ghosts and wolves howl outside the Zhang family mansion, and sent dead rats to the Zhang family early in the morning as a threat.
This of course alarmed the family of the young master of the Zhang family. After asking, they found out that the young master had bumped into a fox and it was the fox that was causing trouble.
However, they did not want to return the fox book to seek peace. Instead, they believed that the book was unlucky and ordered the young master to offer the fox book to Jingta Temple and ask the monks there to eliminate the disaster and solve the problem.
The young master of the Zhang family was of course unwilling, but when he was dragged to Jingta Temple by the ear, he had to agree.
The fox book was then enshrined in the Sutra Library of Jingta Temple, and the Miao Fox Society could no longer retrieve it. Even worse, there was a famous monk at Jingta Temple named Shangyi, who was well versed in Vinaya, sutras, and classics. He was well-informed and had a high probability of deciphering the fox script, even if he didn't know it.
Miao Hu was worried about the Fox Book and afraid that the spiritual essence in it would be spread out, leading to unknown consequences. He visited Jingta Temple three times, but was discovered by the monks in the temple three times and had to give up.
"Later, he came to me for help. I couldn't just sit back and watch, so I rushed to Xia Pi. My original intention was to use courtesy first, then force, to explain the situation and ask Jingta Temple to return the fox book. But the monks at Jingta Temple wouldn't listen to me. Seeing the fox spirit approaching, they used their swords to catch the demon and insisted on taking me down first before speaking."
"I fought him outside the Mirror Pagoda Temple. His sword wounded my arm and burned his face."
"Things have gotten so bad that I can no longer handle them. I had no choice but to go to the Tianhu Academy for help. It just so happened that Dr. Huang was with Xun Jijiu, and he told me to go to Wuning County for help. So I brought the Miaohu Society all the way here."
Shao Hu was rolling up his sleeves, revealing his bandaged left arm. Bright red blood was still oozing out from an inch and a half above his elbow.
"Untie it and let me see."
Shao Hu was untying the cloth strips, revealing the wound that was turned outward. The blood was still flowing slowly from the wound and it could not heal.
Gong Mengbi could see that it was the magic power on the sword that was causing trouble. The sword technique was so fierce. The monk who attacked must be the guardian of the temple. He had practiced the sword technique of killing. Ordinary means could not drive away the magic power on the blade, and blood would be shed every day.
Although it won't kill you, it's definitely a long-lasting torture. Even if the pain wears off and the skin heals, the skin will still hurt, and it will become a chronic illness.
Gong Mengbi picked up the teapot on the table, stood up, and poured the cold tea in the teapot diagonally, like a mountain spring flowing, onto Shao Huzheng's wound.
Shao Hu was grimacing in pain and shaking all over, but Miao Hu was still there, supporting his shoulders from behind.
There seemed to be a well hidden in the small pot. The clear spring water pouring out had a faint bitter fragrance. The blood was flowing, and gradually, the pain could no longer be felt.
Gong Mengbi put the teapot back on the table and said, "That's enough."
Shao Huzheng's face turned slightly pale, but when he looked at the wound again, it showed signs of healing.
Shao Hu was silently using his magic power, and the wound no longer felt the piercing pain and was healing faster.
"Thank you Gong Huzheng!"
Shao Huzheng bowed deeply.
Gong Mengbi waved his hand and asked him to sit down.
"There's no rush today. Shao Hu is recuperating here for a day. We'll set off for Xia Pi tomorrow."
Shao Huzheng sighed and said, "I'm really sorry for bothering Gong Huzheng."
Sitting down again, this pot of cold tea played a great role, and Shao Huzheng and Miao Huhui savored the bitter taste of it.
Shao Huzheng was picking up the teapot to pour tea for Gong Mengbi and Miao Huhui. When he picked it up, he found that even though Gong Mengbi had just poured so much spring water, the teapot was still full.
Gong Mengbi looked at the Miao Hu Hui and asked, "What is the background of the Zhang family, and what is the background of the young master of the Zhang family?"
Miao Huhui said, "The Zhang family is a prominent family in Xia Pi, and they have produced several high-ranking officials. In this generation, there are a few scholars, but none of them are in officialdom."
"The youngest son of the Zhang family is the youngest. He doesn't like reading, but rather enjoys legends of gods and ghosts, stories about monks and Taoists. He is fond of Zen and Taoism. Since he was young, he has sought out masters everywhere to learn skills and pursue the path to immortality, but he has never achieved it."
Gong Mengbi frowned slightly and said, "Is that all?"
Miao Huhui was puzzled: "I haven't heard of anything else."
Gong Mengbi sighed and said, "Forget it, let's talk about it tomorrow."
"Changxia Lingguan, clean up two guesthouses for Miao Huhui and Shao Huzheng."
Mr. Huang bowed slightly and disappeared into the fox house.
Gong Mengbi asked about Jingta Temple again, and Miao Huhui knew this very well.
Jingta Temple, named after the Nine Mirror Pagoda, houses the original copy of the Dharma Mirror Sutra. Monk Shangyi stayed at Jingta Temple for the original copy of the Dharma Mirror Sutra.
Buddhist temples with long histories have always been somewhat unfathomable. As far as the Miao Hu Society knows, there are several guardian monks of the seventh rank in Jingta Temple.
The rest is unknown. When operating in Xia Pi, the Miao Fox Society always avoided the Jingta Temple and could not get close to them.
A moment later, Mr. Huang came back to report, saying, "The guesthouse has been cleaned up."
Gong Mengbi took Shao Huzheng and Miao Huhui to the guesthouse to rest and agreed to set off again tomorrow.
When we returned to the fox house, the floor had already been cleaned by Mr. Huang.
Seeing Gong Mengbi's thoughtful expression, Mr. Huang asked, "My lord, do you have any doubts?"
Gong Mengbi nodded and said, "I have some doubts in my heart. I plan to go to my old friends to ask for some information."
Gong Mengbi lit the small golden stove and blew gently. The smoke from the stove filled the entire room.
Gong Mengbi silently chanted the spell and called out the name of God.
After a while, the smoke gathered and turned into an illusory figure wearing the priest robe of Yue Mansion, with a rather unhappy expression.
"Great Immortal Mingfu, why do you summon me?"
Gong Mengbi smiled reservedly and said, "I encountered a problem, so I came to ask Priest Yu for advice."
"If you have something to say, say it now!"
"Help me find out some news about Xia Pi."
