When the meeting was held, not only were the people mentioned by the two people called over, but the second grandfather and second grandmother were also invited to take charge.
Jiang Huaixu repeated what he had said and observed how everyone reacted.
Second Grandpa pondered for a while, then said, "That's a good idea, but how are we going to pay the wages? How much should we pay each person?"
Jiang Erlang said, "There's no need to pay too much. We don't have any way to earn money right now, and the money in the account will eventually run out."
Jiang Huaixu nodded. "Skilled workers shouldn't be treated unfairly, and strong laborers shouldn't be allowed to work in vain. Once the wages of these two types of people are determined, the wages of the others can be reduced accordingly. Uncle and Dad, you guys have to worry about this."
"Okay, Erlang will help you with the accounting and decide on a number later." Jiang Zhengmao raised his chin towards Jiang Erlang, who nodded in agreement.
"Then..." Zheng Wangshi listened to the general idea and summed it up in three words - pay wages. She asked impatiently, "What about us women? Although the work we do is not physically demanding, we still have a lot of miscellaneous things!"
"That's what I'm going to say. Since we're eating from a big pot, there has to be someone to cook. That's what I call a skilled cook. Even if the food isn't delicious, it has to be good for people to eat. Otherwise, it's just a waste of food.
Secondly, the food portions should be controlled. You can't just let everyone eat as much as they want. Then everyone will know who ate more and who ate less, and everyone will be unhappy. Adults and children can each set a portion, and then cook as they please.
The women present were rather reserved. After all, they were never brought in when things were discussed in the past. Now that they were suddenly involved, they all listened carefully and did not speak unless necessary.
Zheng Wangshi was a generous person, and she said whatever she wanted to say. "Xu girl, your sister-in-law! Your sister-in-law cooks delicious food and has even learned how to stir-fry. Your aunt, your mother, your eldest aunt, and your second grandmother are all good cooks. Any of them can cook!"
Everyone who could cook was called up, and no one was left out.
Jiang Huaixu responded positively to Zheng Bo Niang's active participation: "Don't worry, Auntie, it's definitely not possible to cook a big pot with just one or two people. Let Second Grandpa and Uncle decide who to choose. I haven't thought about it that carefully yet."
She held up a finger. "One last thing. We should get the things we need. It'll be much quicker with a car and a horse. If we wait any longer, the weather will get colder and we'll suffer."
Jiang Boliang said, "That's true. I was talking about buying things during the day."
"Then tomorrow, Aliang, you take people to the county town to buy some oil, salt, vegetables and so on. You can take care of the rest and withdraw the money directly from the account." Jiang Zhengmao arranged.
Jiang Boliang nodded, "One more thing, what should we do with those horse-drawn carriages? We are farmers, and horse-drawn carriages are not as practical as ox-drawn carts."
"Dad, we are at war right now, and the price of horses is bound to skyrocket. After selling the horses, we can buy cattle and make a profit." Jiang Erlang said with certainty.
Jiang Miao also said: "So many horses are too conspicuous. As long as the origins of the horses are not strictly checked, you can make a fortune from them."
Jiang Boliang pondered and said, "I'll go to the county town tomorrow to ask around."
"Dad, I want to go to the county town too." Jiang Huaixu raised his hand and said, "I want to go to the county town to buy some medicinal herbs."
"I can't forget you." Jiang Boliang was helpless towards his little girl.
After the meeting, Jiang Huaixu found Zheng Li'niang to take her pulse, only to find that all the children in the family, big and small, were washed clean. She looked at herself and saw that she was dirty, and immediately ran to Zheng Li'niang who was making a fire and asked to take a bath.
Zheng Li Niang was almost shaken by her, "You little girl, I was looking for you just now and couldn't find you, now you're making trouble so I came here. I boiled some hot water in the pot for you, come in and wash up."
"Sister-in-law, call Brother. After I finish my shower, I'll take your pulses and see if you need a change of medicine. I'll buy the medicine for you tomorrow when we go to town."
Zheng Li'niang didn't expect that her youngest sister would bring up this matter so quickly. She knew that her youngest sister cared about the couple, and she felt a little touched.
Her expression was slightly moved. "Thank goodness you've been thinking about this all the time. Come into the house and wash up. I'll call your brother over later."
"Isn't my sister-in-law always thinking about me? I remember that too. I'm going to take a shower."
There was a house on the west side of the yard with a big hole in the roof. It had not been completely repaired yet, so it became a temporary bathing place for the family.
After adding hot water, Jiang Huaixu took out all the necessary bath products and scrubbed herself with a bath towel, nearly rubbing a layer of skin off. After scrubbing, in the dim firelight, she found that she had become two shades whiter.
After getting dressed speechlessly and walking out of the house to pour out the dirty water, Jiang Huaixu found Jiang Dalang and Zheng Li'niang to take his pulse. He wrote and drew on paper for a while before going back to sleep.
The next day, Jiang Huaixu got up early and brought Jiang Sanlang and Fu Tuan to the carriage.
"Little sister, how much silver do you think those agarwood can be sold for?"
Jiang Huaixu, who had washed his face with cold water, was now very sober. "I don't know the price in the county, but I'm sure it can be sold for a lot of silver."
Jiang Sanlang smirked, "Hehehe, I need to think about what to buy with the money."
"Third brother," Jiang Huaixu stared at Jiang Sanlang, his expression indescribable. "You look like you have 'something fishy' written all over your face. Be careful, or mother will find out and confiscate your property."
Jiang Sanlang immediately stopped laughing and lowered his head. "Is this okay?"
"'I'm sick', cervical spondylosis." Jiang Huaixu commented sharply, "I have a suggestion for you. After we divide the silver among us, give your silver to me for safekeeping. That way, mother won't find out."
Frustrated, Jiang Sanlang raised his head suspiciously, "Little sister, are you short of money?"
