Jiang Zhengmao was startled and almost tripped over a stone under his feet. "What's going on? Speak slowly."
"My cousin went to the stream to wash things, and three leprosy guys came out of nowhere and found her alone..."
Before Jiang Wei could finish her words, Jiang Zhengmao walked straight to the stream.
Jiang Wei hurriedly chased after him and shouted, "Uncle, don't worry, my cousin..."
"How can I not be anxious? Ye'er is the only one by your aunt's side! If anything happens to Ye'er, it will be terrible!" Jiang Zhengmao said as he walked, feeling extremely anxious.
"But my cousin is fine. Those three people were caught by my second brother and his men."
Finally, she said what she wanted to say, and Jiang Wei followed her uncle's pace.
Jiang Zhengmao suddenly stopped in his tracks. "Girl, why are you leaving your words in limbo? Where are they now?"
"He's still tied up by the stream and was beaten badly!" Jiang Wei didn't mind what her uncle said at all. Instead, she looked excited.
Hearing that things were developing in this direction, Jiang Zhengmao lost his previous nervousness. He patted Jiang Wei on the head and said, "Let's go and take a look with uncle!"
“Hey!”
The two men rushed to the stream and pushed through the crowd. In the middle of the crowd, three men in shabby clothes were lying on the ground. Their faces were so bruised and swollen that they could no longer recognize their original appearance.
"Uncle, the three of them were about to commit a crime. We happened to be coming down the mountain with some cut wood. We heard the noise and tied them up." After saying this briefly, Jiang Erlang added, "Their injuries looked scary, but we didn't use any heavy hands."
Jiang Zhengmao smiled and patted Jiang Erlang on the shoulder, praising him: "Well done!"
If he wasn't the village chief, he would have given these people a good slap in the face.
"Dad, we just arrived. Will this happen..." Jiang Zhou was a little worried.
"We just got here, so we need to get hard." Jiang Zhengmao glanced at the villagers around him and said loudly, "If we don't get hard now, our future will be difficult!"
"Uncle, it's getting late. Why don't you bring these people to my yard and let them stay there for one night? We can make plans tomorrow," Jiang Erlang suggested.
"Woo woo--" Heida, with his greasy hair, knew that this night would not be easy, and he struggled hard.
Jiang Zhou stepped forward and kicked him, "Try to move again!"
The struggle was short-lived. After Jiang Zhengmao gave an affirmative answer, a group of teenagers rushed to drag the people away, causing the three people whose hands and feet were tied to suffer a lot.
"Cousin, are you scared?" Jiang Wei walked back with Liu Ye'er.
Liu Ye'er shook her head. She had experienced so much along the way. Faced with this kind of thing, she was only thinking about how to escape. Before she could feel scared, Jiang Erlang brought a group of people to rescue her.
She shook her head. "If I could learn the skills of Xu and Erlang, I wouldn't have to be afraid anymore."
Jiang Erlang, who was a step behind them, said gently, "If you want to learn, you can let Ah Xu continue teaching when you have time. I've only learned the basics now."
"Second brother, are you going to let us live?" Jiang Wei said in surprise. "You just knocked those three people down in just a few moves, and this is just the beginning."
Jiang Erlang chuckled, "Not as good as Ah Xu."
When two fully loaded carriages passed the south of Jiuxi Village, they attracted the attention of Lin Bayi who was returning from fetching water. He looked at the carriages and horses going away, a look of jealousy appeared on his face, he spat fiercely, and then staggered into the dilapidated courtyard gate.
"Lazy woman, where are you when I ask you to cook?!" he yelled.
Lin Tian came out of the house, her face full of impatience, "What are you yelling about? Isn't your daughter doing it?"
Lin Bayi threw the carrying pole in his hand to the ground. "You are the one who provoked that group of people. You should find a time to go and apologize! Jiuyi told me that there are scholars among that group of people. There are only benefits and no harm in making friends with them. The wheat is big now, it's time to look for a husband."
The last sentence was particularly emphatic.
Lin Tian's eyes rolled, and she also had some thoughts, but she said, "It was obviously you who asked those guys to grab the house, and I stood up for you but it became my fault. You are used to being a good person..."
"You stupid woman, what are you talking about?" Lin Bayi got angry when he mentioned this. "If it weren't for you and those useless guys doing bad things, what would they have to do with the good houses in the north?"
Knowing she was in the wrong and having something else on her mind, Lin Tianshi stopped talking back and leaned closer to ask, "What's going on over there?"
"What's the matter? Can't you see for yourself?" Lin Bayi rolled his eyes at Lin Tianshi and didn't want to pay any more attention to this stupid woman.
At the other end of the village, two fully loaded carriages were surrounded by villagers.
Qian Xiuzhu came out to look around countless times a day, and Zheng Wangshi even made fun of her.
Compared to the head of the household, she was more worried about her little girl. Every time the little girl went out, she had to get something from the small house. If she was accidentally discovered, she would not be able to explain herself even if she had mouths all over her body.
Fortunately, the boss is there, otherwise she would definitely go with him.
This time, as soon as he went out, he happened to run into two carriages head-on.
Jiang Boliang called out "wife" with joy on his face, but Qian Xiuzhu completely ignored him.
"Come down slowly!" Qian Xiuzhu saw San'er and the little girl getting off the carriage while talking non-stop. They were staggering and looked frightening. She hurried forward to help them, but was tripped by the children running around and cheering.
Jiang Huaixu suppressed his smile and said to the child beside the carriage, "You are not allowed to pull the carriage."
The tone was calm, but the children let go of their hands obediently after hearing it.
Jiang Huaixu jumped off the carriage holding Qian Xiuzhu's hand, and while telling her what he saw and heard on the road, he pulled Qian Xiuzhu into the yard.
