Chapter 952: Unequal Treaty

Chapter 952: Unequal Treaty

The progress of the offensive against Comoros is not stagnant, but is slowly creeping forward.

But this issue is not the core reason for the alliance to compromise.

The most fundamental reason was a fire in the hinterland.

The Dark Eldar raiders headed for the real universe from the ports they controlled. The Alliance controlled tens of thousands of worlds, and the five major fronts each had their own war goals and assembled in various strategic directions. And in the interior of the Alliance, there was no lack of military power.

First, there are the planetary defense forces of each planet. Although these forces are under the overall strategy of the Alliance Military Department, the training level of the local defense forces of each planet is much stronger than that of the Empire era, and their equipment is much better. However, they are still no match for the regular Alliance Army.

These planetary defense forces are not very effective against the Dark Eldar.

But at least the number of defense forces on each planet is here. Some equipment eliminated from the Alliance Army, as well as the dignitaries on the planets, for the sake of their own safety and the safety of their industries, and the planetary governors appointed by the Alliance are relatively responsible. If they have spare capacity, they will find ways to raise money to form an elite guard.

The number may not be large, but the Dark Eldar attackers on the opposite side are often even smaller, so they can more or less play a role in the confrontation.

Even worse was the navy.

The Alliance Navy is certainly powerful, but most of them are deployed on the front-line battlefields of the five major fronts, or on escort missions for transport ships that deliver supplies to the five major fronts.

In the heart of the alliance, there are some weaknesses in space defense capabilities.

Of course, there are still some.

Generally speaking, they can be divided into three categories: planetary defense navy, star region defense navy, and armed merchant ships of the alliance caravan.

The first category, namely the planetary defense navy, is the same concept as the planetary defense force. It is a naval force that the planet raises funds and builds itself. However, these planetary navies are subject to more restrictions. On the one hand, their construction must be approved by the Union Navy Department and must be under the jurisdiction of the Navy Command.

In theory, the Planetary Defense Force is also under the jurisdiction of the Alliance Army Department, but there is still a big difference between the two. The Alliance Army Department is generally too lazy to manage the Defense Force, and at best recruits soldiers from the Defense Force. This is considered a political achievement of the Planetary Governor and the Planetary Defense Force Command, and a way to get promoted and make money, so they don't resist it.

Most of the planetary officials of the Alliance are temporary officials, which is very different from the situation in the old empire where planets were the private property of the planetary governors.

But the situation is different on the navy side. The Alliance Navy Department will not only directly requisition planetary fleets and supplement them into the front-line combat sequence, but will also directly issue some combat tasks to the planetary fleets, and even directly appoint and assign the commanders of the planetary fleets.

In addition, the Alliance Navy will impose restrictions on the size of planetary fleets.

The main purpose is to prevent corruption, and secondly to prevent rebellion.

After all, the situation on a planet is the most uncontrollable. Under the rule of the Alliance, the probability of this happening is lower than in other places, but it is not so low that it will not happen. If it happens once, if the planet's army and navy are complete and powerful, the loss will be too great.

Of course, even without these, it is not realistic to operate a large-scale naval fleet with the financial resources of a planet alone. It is usually quite good to have one or two destroyers with three or four frigates to guard against alien pirates.

The main defense force of the alliance's hinterland still relies on the second part: the star domain navy.

The nature of the star domain navy is similar to that of the planetary fleet. It is also managed by the Navy Department, and even more strictly than the planetary fleet. But the difference is that the star domain government has money and can support a larger fleet; the central government of the alliance will also provide some financial support. Some retired and repaired second-tier ships are sometimes directly assigned to the star domain fleet.

After all, it is quite necessary to have a permanent fleet with considerable combat capability within the scope of a star field.

Planetary fleets do not exist in every world, but star domain fleets exist in every star domain. The only difference is the size of the fleet, which varies according to the importance of the star domain and the pressure it faces.

What's more, a star field is still too big.

The small ones have two or three hundred worlds, and the large ones have five or six hundred.

Even if you cross at full speed, it will take at least half a month, or at most two months; and if you want to tour the entire star field, running for two or three years to complete a circle is considered fast. If you choose some important planets to stay for a few more days, or if there are any actions or activities, it will be even more difficult. Once you slow down, it will be very difficult to run again. It is not impossible to complete a tour in ten years.

This means that the entire fleet cannot act together, and must be divided into multiple small squadrons to carry out operations.

Planets plus star domain fleets constitute the basic defense measures for a star domain. At the level of the universe domain, there is no special fleet. The safety of the entire universe domain is the responsibility of the Alliance Navy Headquarters. If a war at the universe domain level occurs, the fleet of the Central Army will be mobilized. The duties of the commander of the universe domain navy are more like a coordination center. If there is a problem that cannot be solved in a star domain, try to see if you can mobilize troops from multiple star domains to come to support before the central army comes.

In addition to the local defense system, there is another force that can be mobilized, which comes from the armed merchant ships of the alliance caravan. Although their main work and task is to do business and serve as blood vessels to maintain commercial trade within the alliance, when necessary, their armed forces can also be called up to deal with the enemy.

In particular, the Alliance caravans were originally important prey for the Dark Eldar.

And with such a hinterland star sea defense system, it would be a bit difficult to fight against the Dark Eldar raiding teams that were trying their best to search for targets in multiple universes and multiple star fields at the same time and launching unlimited operations.

To be honest, a large number of Dark Eldar attacks were thwarted, and their probability of failure was actually quite high.

But the problem is that although the Dark Eldar have failed many times, the cost is also low!

This is mainly due to their strategic problems.

The Dark Eldar are not stubborn.

According to the intelligence the Alliance has learned from the captives, the one responsible for conducting the unlimited warfare in the display universe is a joint action led by Isara of Dusk Fang, which is composed of more than fifteen large dark-skinned families.

Their strategy is very tricky. Their plundering fleet is divided into smaller units than human troops. They are always very cautious in choosing their targets, and once they find something wrong, they will run away immediately and never fight head-on.

Once they succeed, they will cause as much damage as possible.

Imagine a planet that is suddenly attacked by about 15 black ships. This planet is relatively poor, with a population of probably no more than 1 billion, an army of probably less than 10 million, and a global defense system; there is no navy; the planetary orbital defense system is relatively backward and underdeveloped.

From the perspective of the entire universe and the entire political system of the alliance, this place is like a "village".

Suddenly they were attacked by the Black Skins. Their elite troops fell and killed officials by beheading or assassination, causing chaos among the high-level officials on the planet. Then, they looted important supplies and used various weapons to massacre civilians.

It took about ten days in total, and they decisively evacuated when the supporting fleet was still two or three galaxies away.

If you have time before leaving, you can conduct another orbital bombing.

How to prevent this?

Very difficult to defend.

If the assassination attempt fails, if the defense forces resist strongly during the ground looting phase, or if the orbital defense system intercepts them during orbital bombing or the release of weapons similar to the extermination order, the Dark Eldar will definitely admit defeat decisively, abandon their targets and flee.

On a few occasions, the Alliance's fast fleets caught them and won a battle, but overall they suffered losses more often than not.

The local defense fleet has been in a state of running for its life.

To be honest, this series of measures taken by the Dark Eldar were quite successful.

In a sense, the alliance can almost be said to have suffered a 'defeat'.

How do we determine the outcome of a war? It is nothing more than whether the strategic goals of the two warring parties have been achieved.

From this perspective, the Dark Eldar's strategic goal of using the so-called Blood Rose Labyrinth and bringing the war to the Alliance's homeland to act as an "annoying blood-sucking mosquito" was truly achieved: they did succeed in forcing the Alliance back to the negotiating table.

Negotiations resumed.

In the meantime, the alliance was unwilling to give up and tried several times.

Although the difficulties are difficult to solve, they must be solved eventually.

Even if the final result is peace talks, what is on the negotiating table depends on battlefield performance.

The Alliance successfully detonated two earth-blasting satellites inside Comoros.

These two super bombs certainly couldn't destroy Comoros like destroying a planet. But at least they destroyed two city areas that were heavily guarded by the Blood Maze. Even in order to drop the bombs, the Alliance's death squads also made huge sacrifices; the Earth-blasting Star Destroyer itself was a very expensive consumable weapon, and it was still unclear whether it was worth it.

However, the Alliance is also using this method to severely warn the blacks: Don't think I have no way. If we don't pay any price, we still have the ability to completely destroy you.

In addition, on the starry battlefield of the real universe, the Alliance urgently mobilized fleets from the five major fronts.

These fleets are specialized "hunting fleets" with specialized ship configurations. Although the Retribution-class battleships are very capable in frontal combat and can be regarded as the mainstay of Star Wars, they are too slow. The equally slow Zhuge-class aircraft carriers are also gone.

These hunting fleets are often centered around the fastest Holy Grail-class battlecruisers, with a number of destroyers, and a small number of fast cruisers and light aircraft carriers as supplementary main forces to quickly hunt down the Dark Eldar raiding fleets roaming in the human star field.

These looting fleets could not be withdrawn directly from the Veil Spirit Gate in one go. Many of them were in hiding, arrested before or after the action, and completely destroyed.

At the same time, the Dark Eldar's veil gates were frequently used, and some of them were deciphered. The human hunting fleet would often arrive first, and would not rush to destroy the veil gates, but would wait patiently at the gates. When the next wave of dark skins came out or returned, they would suddenly rush out and ambush them.

This also effectively restricted the Dark Eldar's looting activities in the real universe.

The difficult but progressive situation on both sides made Ambassador Texas feel more confident at the negotiating table.

Finally, after constant compromise and confrontation, a preliminary peace agreement was reached between the two sides.

The Alliance permanently owns the currently occupied Queen Rose Port and Bodhisattva Port.

The alliance has the right to lease eight ports, including one large port, two medium-sized ports, and five small ports. The locations of these ports are connected to Queen Rose and Bodhisattva Port.

The Alliance has the right to station troops in these leased ports, and both parties jointly manage them. The lease fee was negotiated to a figure that the Alliance can fully accept. In theory, the cost of using these leased ports for transportation and troop deployment is seven times higher than the cost of conventional deployment, but the benefit is that the time for troop deployment and transportation of important materials is shortened by more than a hundred times.

If humans have a need, the Dark Eldar will conditionally open the countless Veil Spirit Gate nodes they control in the real universe.

The Dark Eldar can trade some technology with humans. Both sides have listed the relevant technology list, but to be honest, this item can only be regarded as a bonus. The Dark Eldar don't think much of human technology. Whether it is to restrict their military expansion or their own development, the bottleneck has never been technology.

Humans do want Black Skin's technology, but many of Black Skin's technologies were developed based on their own conditions, and are not easy for humans to use.

What's more, the other party will not give us the real core technology.

These conditions can basically be considered as the alliance’s gains in this war.

In contrast, what did the Dark Eldar gain?

Cease-fire, no more beatings.

Trade: They can trade with the alliance with their own products, high-tech creations, and port usage rights. The most important of these are basic energy, food, and raw materials.

With these conditions, although the core area of Comoros is still completely controlled by the Dark Eldar and most of the ports are still in Heipi's own hands, Gu Hang would rather pay a huge price to attack Comoros, and his goal can be said to have been achieved.

The Alliance has the ability to use the Curtain Gate to deploy troops on a large scale!

From this overall perspective, humans are the victorious party: all of Gu Hang’s strategic goals have been achieved.

As for the Black Skins, they gained nothing. They didn't get any of the two children of prophecy they wanted; they were beaten up; a large part of their hometown was ceded away, either directly becoming a permanent administrative area of the Alliance or existing as a "concession".

What they got in return was just to avoid being beaten, and the intermittent trade that would be strangled by humans.

For the Dark Eldar, this was of course an unequal treaty through and through.
