Chapter Ninety-One: A Pie Falling from the Sky

A few days ago, Xu An joined a group chat related to migrant workers in Shanghai and found some companies that he was interested in, but after discussing cooperation, all of them fell through.

Either they need to advance the funds for a month and settle the payment at the end of the month; or they dislike Xu's Fast Food Restaurant because it's an unknown small shop and don't consider it.

Of course, there were also those who wanted to skim a profit. As long as Xu An agreed to give him 1.5 yuan per meal, he convinced the company to order from fast food restaurants. Upon further inquiry, it turned out the company only had twenty employees...

There are also many scammers. One of them offered to introduce Xu An to a large company that could order thousands of boxed meals, in exchange for a referral fee of 50,000 yuan from Xu An.

I'm so touched! A deal worth 240,000 only requires a 50,000 referral fee! Of course I have to refuse!

After hitting a wall several times, Xu An temporarily abandoned the idea.

Let's wait until Xu's Fast Food Restaurant has enough cash on hand to support a company's end-of-month meal settlement before we start this project!

But to Xu An's surprise, after he briefly put the idea aside, opportunity came to him on its own.

Back at Xu's Fast Food Restaurant from the Red Brick Creative Park, Xu An saw Luo Min and Ding Nan from Elsa Apparel Company.

Their company is right across from the Haishi Library, which is a ten or twenty-minute walk from here. How did they end up here?

Xu An greeted the two men, reached out and opened the beverage cabinet door, took out two bottles of cola and handed them to them, then took out another bottle, twisted it open and took a sip. The icy sensation made him shiver involuntarily.

Health issues aside, having a sip of ice-cold cola on a hot summer day is truly a treat!

"Brother Ding, Luo Min, what brings you to the shop today? Did you forget to order?" Xu An sat down opposite the two men.

"We've already eaten. We have something to discuss with you, but it's not appropriate to talk about it online. It's better to talk in person."

Judging from their words and actions, they didn't seem to be there to cause trouble.

If it's not a bad thing, then it's a good thing. Xu An looked at the two of them with curiosity, waiting for them to continue.

"The company's performance has been good this year, and the senior management has decided to increase employee benefits. After a vote by all employees, it was unanimously decided that the company will provide lunch as a new employee benefit." Ding Nan smiled at Xu An and continued, "Xu's Fast Food Restaurant and two other fast food restaurants in Haishi have been selected. Now we need to select two of them as suppliers."

This is incredible! It's like a windfall!

"How can I cooperate?" Xu An asked very helpfully.

"I came to see you today to ask if you could lower the delivery fee or cancel it altogether," Luo Min said somewhat embarrassedly.

"How many people are there in your company, and how many meals do you order each day?" Xu An didn't give an answer, but asked back.

“Not counting sales staff and factory workers, there are a total of 276 people,” Luo Min answered Xu An’s question very quickly.

There are 276 people. If the two fast food restaurants split the numbers equally, each restaurant will have 138 people. After deducting some employees who may require meal allowances, there should still be around 100 people.

One advantage of delivering meals to the company is that it's fast, very fast.

Once the preparations are done properly, the boxed meals will be delivered to the company and received by designated administrative staff. After receiving the meals, you can leave directly.

However, there was a very important question Xu An had to ask: "How are meal expenses settled? Daily, weekly, or monthly?"

Ding Nan and Luo Min were instantly speechless. They hadn't really considered this issue; they were only thinking about how excited Xu's Fast Food Restaurant would be when they heard the news. With the company partnering with Xu's Fast Food Restaurant, they could save on lunch expenses—a win-win situation, killing two birds with one stone...

Only after Xu An inquired about the meal bill did the two belatedly realize what was going on.

Xu's Fast Food Restaurant is different from the other two fast food restaurants. The other two fast food restaurants are chain stores, and the backlog of a month's worth of meal expenses may be a bit of a burden, but it is not unacceptable.

However, at this time last month, Xu's Fast Food Restaurant was still setting up a stall at the entrance of the construction site, which was simply not enough to support the backlog of meal costs for at least three thousand boxed meals a month.

But this was the settlement method given by the finance department, and they couldn't change it. Luo Min could only bite the bullet and say, "Meal expenses will be settled monthly."

"Settlement is done monthly. Based on a daily output of 100 meals, that's at least 3,000 meals a month, resulting in a backlog of 20,000 yuan in meal expenses." Xu An gave a wry smile: "That's a bit too much for Xu's Fast Food Restaurant."

Upon hearing this, the three of them exchanged bewildered glances.

"How about this, could you two please communicate internally and see if we can negotiate a weekly settlement?" Xu An pondered for a moment and continued, "If we can settle weekly, the discount I can offer on delivery fees is: no delivery fee for orders over 100 boxed meals, half the delivery fee for orders over 50, and the full delivery fee for orders under 50. How does that sound?"

Ding Nan and Luo Min looked at each other without saying a word.

The two felt the possibility was slim, but then they thought of the boxed lunches, daily dishes, and delicious slow-cooked soups from Xu's Fast Food Restaurant...

Luo Min gritted her teeth and said, "I'll try my best."

Xu An then accompanied Ding Nan and Luo Min to film the store, including the kitchen, taking photos of everything in detail.

As the two finished collecting the data and were about to leave, Ding Nan suddenly turned around and glanced at the beverage cabinet, asking, "If we're supplying boxed lunches to the company, can this apple cider vinegar still be included in the one-yuan purchase promotion?"
