Chapter Thirty-Five: There really isn't a single one left!

Today, we still have 120 boxed meals: 20 at the Zijing Garden construction site and 100 at the Haishi Library construction site.

The temperature was only one degree warmer than yesterday, but it felt like it had doubled.

Even the workers who are used to working outdoors couldn't help but complain about the extremely hot weather.

The construction site management was also worried that the workers would suffer from heatstroke in this weather, so they changed the start and end times. The workers finished work at 11:00 a.m. and did not start work again until 4:00 p.m.

Just by looking at the description, you might think the working hours are pretty good, but the total workload throughout the day remains the same.

Finishing work at 11 o'clock means having to start work at 5 or 6 o'clock in the morning, and working from 4 o'clock in the morning until 8 or 10 o'clock in the evening.

The biggest beneficiary of this system is Xu An and the food stall outside the construction site.

In the past, many workers would leave work too early or too late, which would clash with the vendors' business hours, so they could only go to restaurants and fast food outlets with longer opening hours to make purchases.

Now that workers can leave work at 11 p.m. at the latest, they have many more options.

What interests them most is the boxed lunch stall at the entrance of the construction site, which is often mentioned by their fellow workers.

A serving of three dishes and a soup costs eight yuan.

A former cook once commented that this vendor uses honest ingredients and never cheats, truly showing consideration for us working people.

Today I can finally have a taste of it.

Xu An's boxed lunch stall had just opened at 10:50 a.m., but by 11:00 a.m. it was already surrounded by workers.

Many people came directly from the construction site after finishing their work, and Xu An could see that their clothes were covered with a layer of white crystals.

It's a white powder, similar to salt crystals, that forms after your clothes have been soaked with sweat and dried repeatedly.

Three groups of workers visited Xu An's lunchbox stall, and a total of seventy-two lunchboxes were sold.

Xu An felt that his little stall had almost ripped off all the workers from the three nearby construction sites.

The three construction sites together have less than 500 people in total, and 72 of them are spending money at his stall. This is a proportion that makes Xu An feel incredibly happy.

As always, Ding Nan and Luo Min arrived at Xu An's lunchbox stall at 12:02.

The two walked this short distance of less than 100 meters, and their foreheads were covered in fine beads of sweat.

The two of them would usually chat with Xu An for a few minutes and ask about the dishes for tomorrow before going back.

Today, the two of them grabbed their lunchboxes and returned to the other side of the street even faster than when they came, quickly entering the company.

As soon as they stepped into the company, a blast of cold air hit them, and they felt every pore on their bodies open up, the heat that had been lingering on them dissipating completely.

ah!

Luo Min let out a long sigh before walking lightly toward the administrative office.

"If only the boss could provide door-to-door service, then we wouldn't have to go downstairs. We'd be drenched in sweat after just one trip outside; this weather is insane."

"How about we mention it to the boss tomorrow? We're not far apart, maybe it'll work out," Ding Nan suggested.

“That makes sense. If it doesn’t work, we’ll just have to keep going and buying our own lunches. But if it does work, we can sit in the office, enjoying the air conditioning and eating the lunches delivered to our door by our boss.”

At the end of the food street at the construction site of the Haishi Library, a student from Haishi Maritime College suddenly appeared.

Then came the second, the third, the fourth...

A large group of people, at least twenty or thirty, entered the food street.

Xu An remembered that the group of people who led the group were the silly college students who had inexplicably gathered around to watch the workers eat yesterday.

"This is it! This is it!"

"quick!"

"It's just ahead, brothers!"

Holy crap, did they eat something bad and come here to cause trouble?

That's impossible. So many workers, office workers, and residents in the surrounding area are fine. How could they get sick from the food? It shouldn't be like that.

Xu An reacted quickly, reaching out to grab the bamboo pole used to secure the whiteboard.

This bamboo pole, having been exposed to sun and rain by Xu An for so many days, has turned from emerald green to withered yellow.

Although it has lost its vitality, it has become even tougher!

Liang Dani reacted quickly, reaching out to press the lid on the soup bucket. As long as the students made any unusual movements, she could immediately lift the lid for defense and attack.

The boy running in front stretched out his right hand towards them.

Xu An tightened his grip on the bamboo pole, and Liang Dani also grabbed the handle on the lid.

Both sides are poised to engage in battle.

The hand gradually approached, coming within twenty centimeters of their eyes!

!

The next second, the hand fell straight down and grabbed a boxed lunch from the styrofoam box.

Those following behind also reached out their claws, grabbing at the boxed lunches in the styrofoam box.

The last seventeen boxed meals were emptied instantly, leaving only two empty, battered styrofoam boxes.

And several pairs of hands, filled with resentment, were still rummaging through the styrofoam box, trying to find the forgotten lunchbox in this way.

Xu An loosened his grip on the bamboo pole, and Liang Dani also loosened her grip on the lid.

After grabbing the lunchbox, Lao Han, who was at the forefront, stood in an open space to the side. He was somewhat proud of being the first to grab the lunchbox, but he didn't understand why he had felt a slight chill down his spine just now, which made him pause for a moment and almost cost him first place.

He looked up at the bright sun overhead, still so dazzling, and the sunlight on his body was still so scorching.
