At 2 PM, the break ends, and the afternoon's work begins.
Before officially starting work, Fan Zhongchao opened his browser bookmarks, clicked on one of the website links, and the webpage redirected from the search page to the [Xu's Catering] ordering website.
As usual, Fan Zhongchao's gaze fell on the menu bar for tomorrow. Just as he was thinking about which set meal to order for tomorrow, his peripheral vision suddenly caught a glimpse of a new option at the top of the page.
"What is this? I didn't see this option in the points mall yesterday. Is it a newly launched feature?"
Fan Zhongchao clicked the option with his mouse, and an account with numbers and letters appeared prominently at the top of the new webpage. However, what attracted Fan Zhongchao's attention was not the account itself, but a line of small print below it.
Points: 352 (Note: One yuan of spending equals one point)
If one yuan is equivalent to one point, then these points in the account represent a consumption of 352 yuan at Xu's Catering, which translates to 44 boxed meals from Xu's Catering.
Unbeknownst to me, I've actually dined at Xu's Restaurant so many times!
After a moment of reflection, Fan Zhongchao moved the middle mouse button, and a product display interface somewhat similar to Taobao's appeared before his eyes.
"Three catties of cauliflower, 100 points. One catty of small potatoes from Hongshan Town, 50 points. Three catties of small potatoes from Hongshan Town, 120 points. One catty of wild chestnuts, 200 points. One catty of wild walnuts, 160 points. Quite a few things you can exchange for!"
Looking at the dazzling array of goods on the page, Fan Zhongchao quickly calculated what he could redeem with his 350 points.
The wild chestnuts look pretty good. The wild walnuts also suit my taste. But the two together require 360 points, and I'm eight points short of redeeming them. I'm not sure if these points are awarded after the order is completed, or immediately upon placing the order.
On a whim, I typed my way back to the ordering page, quickly selected tomorrow's boxed meal set, paid, and then refreshed the points mall. My points jumped from 352 to 360.
Select redeem item, confirm redemption, redemption successful.
In addition to launching an points mall on the ordering page, all offline stores have also launched a "One Yuan Exchange" event. Customers who spend 20 yuan or more at any of Xu's Catering's stores can participate in this exchange event.
Although the promotion was limited to three stores, both Xu's Lemon Tea and Xu's Fast Food only received a handful of redemption orders. On the contrary, Xu's Braised Food saw a surge in redemption orders, with an average of eight out of ten consumers willing to participate in the redemption promotion.
Within three hours of opening, the 500 jin of cauliflower prepared by the five Xu's braised food shops was sold out. Fortunately, the staff were quick-witted enough to report to their superiors before the cauliflower was completely sold out, and a new batch of cauliflower was delivered in time, thus avoiding the situation where the conditions were met but the shop could not exchange the cauliflower for another one.
Compared to the points mall and offline redemption activities, the "one yuan redemption" activity launched in the Taobao store has generated even more impressive sales.
Within two hours of going live, the number of exchange orders monitored in the backend had exceeded 500.
In the morning, when Gao Tian received Xu An's request to harvest all the cauliflower from twenty greenhouses that day, he couldn't help but wonder if the quantity was written incorrectly.
After all, the shelf life of cauliflower is almost the same whether it grows in the ground or is picked.
If you don't pick them while they're growing in the ground, they'll bloom in three to five days; if you don't process them quickly after picking, they'll wilt and mold.
After confirming that the quantity was correct, Gao Tian had no choice but to organize the manpower to start picking according to the task requirements.
Cauliflower that meets market demand and is at its normal maturity stage should be picked and placed on the left. Cauliflower that can still be salvaged should be picked and placed in the middle. Cauliflower that has fully bloomed, as well as the leaves and stems left after picking, should also be collected and placed on the right.
The cauliflower on the left was delivered to various stores of Xu's Catering and became part of the exchange program; the cauliflower that could still be salvaged was sent to the kitchen of Xu's Catering for cooking; the rest were directly sold to the owners of pig farms at 15 cents per pound as pig feed.
At five o'clock in the morning, the delivery truck arrived and took away a ton of cauliflower, along with the fruits and vegetables produced by Aunt Hong and her family.
At 8:00 AM, the transport truck arrived for the second time, taking away three tons of cauliflower. At 1:00 PM, the third truck arrived, taking away four tons of cauliflower.
After the transport trucks left for the third time, everyone thought that was the end of the day. Unexpectedly, at 5 p.m., three transport trucks came to the greenhouse planting area again, and then left carrying eight tons of cauliflower.
Today's task was to harvest 30 tons of cauliflower from 20 greenhouses. Xu's Catering's delivery trucks came four times, taking away a total of 16 tons; the owners of three pig farms took away a total of 6 tons, including the cauliflower leaves; the 'cauliflower mountain' that was piled up so high that it looked like a majestic mountain has become an ordinary little mound.
As one farmer watched the delivery truck drive away, he muttered to himself:
"Isn't Xu's Catering just a place that makes food? They don't have braised cauliflower in their braised dishes, do they? Even a fast food restaurant couldn't possibly cook sixteen tons of cauliflower all at once. How did they manage to transport so much away in one go?"
"Maybe they found a warehouse. Common fruits and vegetables can be stored in a cold storage for ten days to two weeks without any problems."
Another person smacked their lips and sighed, "It's expensive. Renting a cold storage room that can hold this many cauliflowers would cost at least ten thousand or eight thousand a month."
