Chapter Twenty-Four: Is this fragrance just my imagination?

Ding Nan wasn't sure if the receipt was genuine, but he believed that someone who talked big might speak with such certainty. Besides, the young man in front of him looked to be no more than twenty years old, younger than himself, and shouldn't have learned those unscrupulous business practices yet.

He decisively took out ten yuan and handed it to Xu An, receiving a boxed lunch with three dishes and a soup, as well as two one-yuan bills.

Xu An's stall was temporary and didn't provide any seating, so Ding Nan had to take his lunchbox back to his workstation at the company.

The boxed meal is topped with a winter melon and barley bone soup. The soup box contains two large pieces of winter melon, barley that covers the bottom of the box, and a small piece of meat. As a daily soup, this portion is already above average.

Below the soup was a whole box of glutinous rice pearl meatballs. Six plump meatballs were coated with a layer of glossy glutinous rice and topped with a few scallions.

It smells so good!

Suppressing the urge to immediately dig in, Ding Nan opened the box beneath the glutinous rice pearl balls. One half contained stir-fried eggplant with soy sauce, and the other half contained home-style tofu—both dishes that were extremely appetizing.

At the bottom is a whole box of takeout food, enough for two meals.

All the food had been opened, and Ding Nan tore open his chopsticks and began to eat heartily.

Glutinous rice pearl balls, delicious!

Stir-fried eggplant with soy sauce, so delicious!

Homemade tofu is still so delicious!

Winter melon, barley, and bone broth is sweet and refreshing. Drinking it makes my stomach feel soothed; it's so delicious!

After wolfing down his food, there was still a lot of rice and vegetables left, but Ding Nan realized he was full and couldn't eat anymore!

I've only eaten less than half of it, how come I'm already full? Ugh!

Looking at the remaining food, Ding Nan suddenly had a thought: why not save it for dinner when he gets home?

This way, we won't have to worry about what to eat tonight.

Without hesitation, Ding Nan quickly packed up the remaining food and placed it in the corner of his workstation.

I even set an alarm on my phone to remind myself to bring my lunch home after get off work.

The colleague sitting next to Ding Nan had his nose twitching all afternoon.

'Why do I smell glutinous rice balls? It must be my imagination, right? It's definitely an illusion. But the smell is so clear, it's really strange.'
