Chapter Thirty-Nine: Don't Panic, Routine Inspection

When Xiao Gao mentioned it to his fellow villager, the two hit it off immediately and agreed.

While cooking, the villager noticed that some of the meat didn't look quite right, but remembering the hush money Xiao Gao had promised him, he pretended nothing was amiss. He treated the ingredients as normal, only adding extra seasonings during cooking to prevent anyone from noticing anything wrong.

The workers who finished work at noon came to dine as usual, but they felt that the food tasted a bit stronger than usual today.

Shortly after lunch, I found a shady spot on the construction site to rest. Suddenly, I felt a sharp, intermittent cramping pain in my lower abdomen. Despite the sweltering summer heat, I felt chilled, beads of cold sweat appeared on my forehead, and I also felt nauseous and wanted to vomit.

Even the most oblivious person would know something was wrong. He weakly reached out and patted his coworker next door, only to find that his coworker was also covered in cold sweat and looked pained.

They weren't the only ones experiencing this; seven or eight other people also showed these symptoms.

When nearly ten workers experience this situation simultaneously, regardless of whether it's a problem with the construction site canteen, it needs to be investigated immediately.

Everything in the cafeteria, including the trash, was left untouched until the company's disciplinary team came to inspect it.

Sister Wang was also a little flustered by this situation and wanted to ask Wang Qiang about the procurement situation to put her mind at ease.

But I can't find it on the left or the right; I don't know when it slipped away.

"That brat, what time is it and he's still out playing!"

The Jiajia Fast Food Restaurant across from the construction site only saw workers being carried onto ambulances and assumed it was some kind of construction accident. They didn't take it seriously and continued operating as usual.

It must be said that Wang Qiang handled things very cleanly, and the inspection team found nothing unusual when they came to check.

After some questioning at the hospital, it was learned that the group had all eaten lunch at Jiajia Fast Food Restaurant that day.

This involves shops located outside the construction site, which is beyond the scope of the company's inspection team; it requires contacting the market supervision department for handling.

The market supervision department arrived extremely quickly. One second the people in the shop were chatting about what happened at the construction site across the street, and the next second they were startled by the procuratorial team bursting out of the door.

The group, dressed in uniforms and wearing hats, scanned the crowd with sharp eyes. The middle-aged man at the head of the group asked coldly, "Which of you is in charge of this store?"

Xiao Gao felt uneasy under the gaze of everyone present, but he still tried to remain calm and stepped forward: "The boss's wife is hospitalized due to illness, and I am taking care of her in her place."

The middle-aged man nodded, and Zhuantou gestured to his men. The two men behind him walked straight into the kitchen.

Xiao Gao, feeling guilty, panicked upon seeing this and quickly asked loudly, "What's wrong? What are you doing in the kitchen?"

"It's just a routine check, don't panic," the middle-aged man replied with a meaningful smile.

They're starting to panic now; it seems there really is something going on.

The two entered the kitchen and first checked the leftovers in the pot, followed by the ingredients that had not yet been cooked.

When they inspected the meat, one of them quickly noticed something was wrong and picked up a few pieces of meat to sniff them.

This meat all smells rotten!
