Chapter 172 A Wave of the Hand and Salary Doubled

Wang Datou became more and more excited as he spoke, his words coming fast and fast, not allowing Xu An a single word to be interrupted. Xu An could only nod and hum in agreement. However, Wang Datou's excitement did not last long; it quickly faded, and he sighed deeply, his tone becoming dejected.

"However, later on, the slaughterhouse was privatized and took over by a private owner. The salary didn't change, but the free meat I could take home every week was gone, and the workload increased significantly. From then on, I had to get up at two o'clock every morning to go to work at the slaughterhouse. I was responsible for cutting whole pigs. I would work until seven or eight in the morning and be able to cut up twenty or thirty pigs. Pretty impressive, right?"

Xu An had heard about what happened next from Uncle Guosheng. Wang Datou was getting old and working too hard, so he fell ill and wanted to quit. Coincidentally, Xu's Fast Food Restaurant was hiring drivers, so he came to work there.

"Master Wang, will you be able to adapt to working in the shop?" Xu An asked after Wang Datou finished speaking.

"I've adapted, I've adapted so well. Now I don't get up until 5 a.m. every day, and after that, I can leisurely have breakfast and morning tea before heading out to pick up goods. When I'm at work, I'm basically sitting in the car with the air conditioning on, it's much easier than working at the slaughterhouse."

At this point, Wang Datou's eyes lit up again, and he began to praise the job enthusiastically, clearly quite satisfied with it.

Half an hour passed neither quickly nor slowly, and the highly modern Shanghai Convention and Exhibition Center came into view. The car was parked at the side entrance of the convention center, where staff from the preparatory team and logistics department were already waiting. When they saw the refrigerated truck with the large "Xu" character painted on it arrive, they quickly came to greet it.

The five people responsible for liaison at the Shanghai Convention and Exhibition Center were all unfamiliar faces. After exchanging a few pleasantries with Xu An and his companion, they went to count the boxed meals. What they expected to be a long and drawn-out process turned into a pleasant surprise when Xu's Fast Food Restaurant had already meticulously categorized the meals after unloading them from the insulated food cart. The section, the exhibitors, the number of meals, and even who was at each booth and what flavor of meal they had ordered were all clearly labeled.

The five people randomly checked dozens of meals and found no problems. However, in the spirit of being loyal and conscientious, they still checked all the boxed meals again and only signed for them after confirming that there were no problems.

When they signed for the package, the five people's smiles were no longer so formulaic; they now carried a hint of sincerity. This Xu's Fast Food Restaurant is truly, truly excellent!

Unbeknownst to everyone, their entire moment was captured on camera from a short distance away.

Xinyang Shangchu Technology Co., Ltd. booth.

Han Yuanping, the person in charge of the booth, had just finished introducing his company's products to a customer who was interested in them. His throat was dry from talking, so after seeing the customer off, he sat down in the waiting area and picked up a brand new, unopened bottle of mineral water and gulped it down.

Suddenly, his phone pinged, as if someone had sent him a message. Han Yuanping capped the bottle of mineral water and placed it on the table before taking his phone out of his pants to check the message. It was from the Shanghai Convention and Exhibition Center Preparatory Group.

"Each booth manager, please send one person to the northwest gate of the convention center to collect the boxed meals in an orderly manner. Thank you for your cooperation."

Wow! It's almost midnight already. Busy times always fly by. Han Yuanping put down his phone and looked up at his other colleagues at the booth. Each of them was with one or more guests looking at the equipment. It seemed that he was the only one with any free time.

Alright, I'll go then! Han Yuanping told them in the group chat, just in case they needed to find him if something came up, and then got up and headed towards the northwest gate of the convention center.

I wonder which hotel is partnering with the convention center. I did some research before coming. The Black Swan Hotel is quite famous, the Jinxiu Hotel is also good, and there's a shop in Beitun Town called 'Fisherman's Hotel' that specializes in making and selling local delicacies. All of these places are pretty good. Han Yuanping suddenly remembered the boxed lunch he had a few days ago from the fast food restaurant run by that young man. The dishes and taste were quite good. If it was that restaurant, that would be great too.

But the next second, Han Yuanping shook his head, banishing the idea from his mind; it was simply too absurd.

Although Han Yuanping came down immediately upon seeing the news, there were many exhibitors, some of whom were located near the northwest gate. By the time Han Yuanping reached the designated location, a long queue had already formed, with at least forty or fifty people.

Despite rushing, he was still too late. With so many people, it would be at least half an hour before it was his turn. Han Yuanping sighed, resigned himself to his fate, and joined the very end of the line, pulling out his phone to browse the news.

Suddenly, someone tapped his shoulder and said cautiously, "Sir, sir, could you please move forward a little?"

Han Yuanping looked up, somewhat bewildered, and found that the person who had been in front of him was now more than two meters away, as if separated by a galaxy. Feeling a little embarrassed, Han Yuanping quickly jogged over and successfully rejoined the line.

How could it be so fast? I've only been checking my phone for five minutes, and seven or eight people have already picked up their meals? Han Yuanping turned to look at the front of the line, just as someone stepped forward to collect their food. After this person gave their company name and registered, a staff member called out "CITIC Technology Co., Ltd." Within five seconds, another staff member handed the person a meal. This person counted the number of meals, confirmed everything was correct, and left. The next person then began to introduce themselves.

That's fast! Looks like it'll be my turn in about ten minutes!

Just then, another person returned with their meal. Han Yuanping caught a glimpse of the bag containing the boxed lunch out of the corner of his eye. The bag had a prominent character "Xu" printed on it.

Xu's Fast Food Restaurant!

When Han Yuanping first saw it, he wondered if there was something wrong with his eyes. He rubbed his eyes in disbelief, opened them, and looked again, only to see the ancient and dignified character 'Xu'.

Perhaps several hotels are providing meals together? After all, there are quite a few exhibitors, and one hotel might not be able to handle it all. Splitting the meals between two or three hotels is quite reasonable. Han Yuanping offered a reasonably plausible explanation for Xu's Fast Food Restaurant providing meals for the exhibition.

But then, one person after another left with their meals, their bags all bearing the large, prominent, and familiar character 'Xu'. Finally, it was Han Yuanping's turn to stand at the front, where he saw the stacks of boxed lunches piled high. Everywhere he looked, the character 'Xu' was visible.

Holy crap!
