Chapter Forty-Seven: Let's Play Together to the End!

The short-haired boy spent the entire day hesitating about whether or not to report the old Chinese medicine doctor.

I'm hesitant to report it, fearing it might be a huge misunderstanding.

If I don't report it, what if there really is someone imprisoned inside? I'm just doing this for a little food, clothing, and shelter, and I'm just letting someone die without helping them? I'll feel guilty.

Suddenly someone walked to the door of the boy with the buzz cut's room and called his name twice in a low voice.

The boy with the buzz cut recognized the voice; it was the old Chinese medicine doctor's voice. He was testing whether the boy was asleep or not.

He closed his eyes and lay motionless on the bed. After a while, he heard footsteps leaving, followed by rustling sounds from downstairs.

The old Chinese medicine doctor was probably changing clothes and packing his things, getting ready to go out.

After waiting a while, I finally heard the door creak open and close.

The short-haired boy tiptoed to the window and secretly peeked out.

Tonight, the old Chinese medicine doctor's attire was no different from the previous times. The only difference was that the bag he was carrying was no longer filled with fast food, but with red, white and blue plastic bags. Through the plastic bags, you could see some hemp rope at the bottom.

All the news, movie, and TV drama scenes he had seen before suddenly appeared in the buzz-cut boy's mind.

This is terrible! Something really bad has happened!

The buzz-cut boy panicked.

No, this is a matter of life and death; I can't just sit idly by.

He quickly changed his clothes, went out the door, and headed towards the nearest police station.

Although it was late at night, the police station was still brightly lit.

The staff inside noticed the buzz-cut boy as soon as he appeared at the door.

A child this age, could it be that he ran away from home and had nowhere to go, so he ended up at the police station?

We encounter several children like this every month, and the staff are used to it.

He led the short-haired boy into the small conference room, handed him two small bread rolls and a cup of hot water, and then asked, "What brings you to the police station?"

Looking at the uniformed staff in front of him, the short-haired boy finally felt less nervous. After taking a big gulp of hot water, he closed his eyes and quickly stated the purpose of his trip.

"I want to report that someone is imprisoning another person and preparing to kill them."

The staff member was taken aback for a moment, then their expression immediately turned serious.

This is not something to be joked about. He didn't know if the boy in front of him was just bored and looking for fun, or if he had really discovered something like this. He had to be careful.

When asked by the staff, the boy with the buzz cut told them everything he knew.

In remote, abandoned mountains and deserted houses, food was frequently delivered there in the middle of the night, people lingered there for extended periods, and they acted suspiciously...

Given these illogical behaviors, it's no wonder the boy had such suspicions; they are indeed very suspicious!

The staff member immediately got up and left the meeting room to report the situation to their supervisor.

The road I'm walking today is becoming more and more terrifying.

He hadn't even gone halfway when his heart was pounding so hard it felt like it was going to jump out of his chest.

The old Chinese medicine doctor stopped in his tracks, his expression becoming unusually grave.

No, I absolutely can't go today. Let's do it tomorrow; there'll still be time tomorrow.

The old Chinese medicine doctor sighed deeply and returned to his clinic the same way he came. Lying back on the bed, his unease didn't disappear; instead, it intensified.

Led by the short-haired boy, several staff members followed behind him.

The road narrowed as they walked, and the surrounding environment became increasingly desolate.

When they saw an abandoned house covered in ivy by the roadside, their faces fell.

One person was left to keep an eye on the boy with the buzz cut, while the rest of the group moved with extreme agility around the house to investigate the situation inside.

One of them touched a patch of ivy on the side of the house and gently pried open a small gap with a stick. A faint sound came from inside the house.

The man composed himself and listened attentively.

"Da~ Da da~"

As the person listened, a strange expression appeared on their face. This sounded like the popular mobile game Subway Surfers? Was this the game's background music? Was someone playing the game?

At this moment, several team members who had not found anything unusual elsewhere came over and also heard the noise.

Their first thought was, "There are people here! They could be homeless, imprisoned, or even outlaws!"

The group exchanged glances and began searching for the house door hidden beneath the ivy.

After finally finding the gate, they discovered it was locked with a huge padlock.

Through exploration and observation, it was discovered that the door was made of wood and had many damaged parts, so perhaps it could be broken open by brute force.

One of the most burly men gestured for the others to move away, then kicked the door hard. The two wooden doors came off the frame and fell to the ground with a 'bang,' raising a cloud of dust.

The old Chinese medicine doctor's son, who was happily playing a game inside, heard the sound but didn't pay it any mind. He even muttered, "Everyone says this broken door needs fixing, but they won't. Now it's broken, so it still needs fixing."

Then, he casually clicked "Play Another Round," and on the phone screen, the hooded boy was running and jumping energetically on the subway tracks...

Once the dust had settled, the staff could see a faint light emanating from the crack in the bedroom door.

The group quickly moved to hide on either side of the bedroom door. One of them stepped forward, grabbed the doorknob, and gently turned it to unlock the door.

It was only then that the old Chinese medicine doctor's son finally realized something was wrong.
