Chapter 5

Chapter 5

Yueyin got up very early and couldn't wait to turn on her computer as soon as she arrived at the office. Unfortunately, no one had added her as a friend.

"Okay," she reassured herself, "she must be still half asleep."

Xu Ying was indeed still asleep.

With a draft in hand, she no longer feels guilty about sleeping in late.

By the time she woke up from her nap, the sun was high in the sky, and it was time for lunch.

Xu Ying felt a pang of regret. People really shouldn't take a nap. Once they do, they easily oversleep and waste a whole morning.

I must write more this afternoon.

However, in the afternoon, after Xu Ying finished eating and returned, she had just turned on the air conditioner to cool off for a while and was about to turn on her computer to start writing when the dormitory door was suddenly pushed open.

Li Jia returned carrying her suitcase.

Xu Ying asked in surprise, "Why are you back?"

If I remember correctly, the graduation photos should be taken the day after tomorrow.

Li Jia wiped the sweat from her forehead: "Hehe, I made an appointment with my boyfriend to come back early."

No wonder.

Xu Ying touched the computer. It seemed she wouldn't be able to write in the dorm for the next few days. Should she go outside?

However, it's not very convenient outside either.

It's final exam week, and almost all the classrooms and libraries are packed. If she keeps typing on her laptop, the clattering sound will definitely disturb other students' studying.

never mind.

Anyway, she has drafts saved up, so not writing for a few days won't affect her ability to post.

Thinking this way, Xu Ying still turned on her computer. She wouldn't write anything; she'd watch some TV dramas instead.

Li Jia stood under the air conditioner for a while to cool off, then sat down next to her and started applying makeup in front of the mirror. She said her boyfriend was taking the high-speed train that afternoon, and she was going to pick him up at the train station later.

?

Xu Ying was shocked: "It's so hot outside, are you sure you want to go...?"

She could see the reflection of the metal railings on the balcony with just a turn of her head, and she knew without a doubt how scorching the sun must be.

"Oh dear, I went on a trip with my friends without him, and he's been a little upset. He's been complaining to me for the past few days. I'll go pick him up and cheer him up!"

That's what they say.

But judging from Li Jia's tone, she was clearly enjoying herself.

Li Jia spent over an hour getting ready, putting on makeup and trying on clothes before leaving. Before leaving, she took a gift out of her suitcase, saying it was something she bought at the scenic spot as an apology.

So much effort.

Indeed, dating is not something just anyone can do.

"I'm leaving. I might not be back tonight."

"Yeah, have fun!"

Li Jia left, and Xu Ying didn't think about writing anymore. She had already turned off the TV series and started watching a documentary. To be honest, the history of the Yu Kingdom was quite dramatic.

That evening, just as Xu Ying finished washing up and was about to climb into bed, Li Jia suddenly ran back crying.

Xu Ying had a bad feeling: "What happened?"

I was happily messaging her this evening, saying I wasn't coming home that night, and now she's suddenly running back crying—what good could it be?!

"We broke up. My boyfriend cheated on me!"

Li Jia recounted the story, her voice choked with sobs.

Her words were incoherent, but Xu Ying still understood them. The gist was that her boyfriend had gone on a trip with another girl while she was away, and they even shared a room.

So melodramatic.

Xu Ying handed Li Jia a tissue: "How did you find out? He didn't delete the chat history?"

Li Jia pouted: "Of course he deleted it. His chat history was perfectly normal. But let me tell you, that woman was too arrogant. She actually messaged my boyfriend, asking him if he forgot about his girlfriend as soon as he saw her."

"Hmph, you didn't expect that, did you? My boyfriend was taking a shower at the time, and I saw the message!"

"Zhang Yuan is a liar. These past few days he's been telling me not to take him when we go out, which has made me feel really guilty. But it turns out he was the one who slept with someone else while I was away, and he has the nerve to turn around and blame me! How despicable!"

"I'm so angry, waaaaaaah!!!"

After hearing the whole story, Xu Ying was speechless.

She racked her brains and suddenly realized a shocking truth.

"Your boyfriend, isn't he in our major too?"

Li Jia gave her a strange look: "Yeah, you don't know Zhang Yuan?"

hiss.

The original owner's impression of Zhang Yuan was that he seemed honest and simple, but she never expected him to be like this behind the scenes.

Just as Xu Ying was about to speak, she saw Li Jia start crying again, so she quickly offered some words of comfort. After finally calming her down, Li Jia began to reminisce about her love story with her boyfriend.

"...We were so good together back then, how could he treat me like this..."

Xu Ying secretly yawned.

She was about to go to bed when Li Jia suddenly came back crying. Almost two hours had passed since she returned, and she was really sleepy.

But she couldn't just coldly ignore her roommate's breakup.

Xu Ying had no choice but to repeat the comforting words she had said several times: "He's a scumbag. He'll definitely regret it later. He'll never find someone who treats him as well as you again."

"That's right, he'll definitely regret it, waaaaaah!"

*

Xu Ying was woken up by the clanging and banging noises coming from the dormitory.

She opened her eyes irritably and looked down. Li Jia was packing things up and throwing them into the trash can, and she looked very unwell.

What are you doing?

"Throw away the things Zhang Yuan gave me."

When Li Jia looked up, Xu Ying was immediately startled. What a haggard face she had! Her eyes were red and swollen, with thick dark circles, and her lips were not only bloodless but also peeling.

"You didn't sleep all night, did you?"

With a face like that, you couldn't make something this authentic without a whole night of hard work.

"I can't sleep," Li Jia said, slumping down and sitting there in a daze without saying a word.

Xu Ying scratched her head, unsure of what to say for a moment.

They were just casual acquaintances, and she didn't know where to begin in trying to comfort them.

"Are you hungry? Should I buy you something to eat?" Xu Ying glanced at the time; it was already past ten o'clock, almost lunchtime.

"No, I don't want to eat."

When Li Jia said that, Xu Ying still brought her a portion of food when she bought it. Not only did she bring it, but it was also more plentiful than her own portion.

Unfortunately, she didn't eat it even after I brought it back.

Xu Ying sighed; she was truly at her wit's end.

Fortunately, she had run out of options, and her roommates gradually returned. With the group chattering and criticizing Zhang Yuan, Li Jia's mood improved considerably.

In the evening, Xu Ying went out for dinner and stopped by the teaching building on the way.

She went to collect her graduation gown.

The school only gave them these clothes to wear for one day; they had to return them after taking graduation photos.

That's incredibly stingy.

When Xu Ying arrived, Jie Lin was looking down at her notebook, registering and receiving information.

She only noticed her when she walked up to her and looked up: "Hey, Xu Ying, you're here. What size do you wear?"

"M is fine."

The bachelor's gowns were packed in bags and piled on the podium.

When Jie Lin heard that Xu Ying wanted size M, she turned around and squatted down to look for clothes. Xu Ying quickly squatted down and helped her search for clothes.

“We’re lucky, these are all new ones the school bought this year,” Jie Lin said, handing one of the items to Xu Ying.

Xu Ying accepted it and thanked her.

As she was leaving, Jie Lin suddenly called out to her, "Xu Ying, let's take a picture together tomorrow!"

"OK!"

*

June 9th.

Everyone in the dormitory got up very early, even Li Jia, who was heartbroken and suffering from insomnia, got up at six o'clock. After all, it was the graduation group photo, and everyone wanted to take a beautiful picture.

Xu Ying did not get up.

The original owner only had one skin care product, which she applied every day; as for other cosmetics, they simply didn't exist.

However, she clearly underestimated her roommate's enthusiasm.

Li Jia shook her awake: "Xu Ying, wake up, it's time to get up and put on makeup!"

"I didn't, I don't wear makeup."

"I have some, I'll lend it to you."

"I don't know how to do makeup."

"I'll do your makeup."

Xu Ying opened her eyes helplessly. It wasn't that she didn't know how to apply makeup; it was that she didn't want to.

She turned her head and met Li Jia's gaze, who was standing beside her bed. After a few seconds, she gave in, feeling too embarrassed to repeatedly refuse when faced with Li Jia's panda eyes.

She sighed, "Then you do your makeup first, and then you can do mine."

"good."

Xu Ying stayed in bed for a few more minutes before getting up.

After she finished washing up and sat down next to Li Jia, Li Jia hadn't finished getting ready yet. Seeing her waiting, Li Jia was clearly getting anxious and quickened her pace.

"Take your time, I'm not in a hurry," Xu Ying smiled. "Or I can do it myself?"

"No way," Li Jia refused without even thinking. "You don't know how to do it. You can practice later. There's no time today."

She knows how to put on makeup.

They really shot themselves in the foot.

Xu Ying hummed in agreement and then fell silent.

After Li Jia finished applying makeup to herself, she eagerly tried it on Xu Ying's face. Xu Ying could only close her eyes and let her pat the powder puff on and on.

"Xu Ying, how come I never noticed before? Your skin is so beautiful!"

Xu Ying has fair skin, no blemishes or acne, and fine pores. It seems that she only needs to use foundation to even out her skin tone and looks good without any additional makeup.

"It's probably because of my skin type, I don't get acne."

"That's great," the other roommates said with envy.

Xu Ying's makeup was done quickly because she didn't want to wear false eyelashes or draw eyeliner, so the steps were very simple and it was done in less than ten minutes.

Finally, we put on our graduation gowns over our clothes and went to the library entrance together.

Many students were standing on the steps outside the library. When Xu Ying and her group arrived, they arrived just in time for the last minute.

As the class monitor, Jie Lin started arranging everyone to line up as soon as the time came.

The counselor and photographer finally arrived late, after the line had almost formed.

As soon as the counselor arrived, she stood at the front and readjusted the line: "Tall people, stand on both sides; short people, stand in the middle; Xu Ying, move to the side..."

Xu Ying never expected that she would be called out.

However, at 167cm, the original owner of this body was not short, so she moved a few spaces to the outside.

The counselor nodded in satisfaction: "That's fine, everyone else can fill in the rest automatically."

After making all the arrangements, the team finally satisfied him, and only then did he take out his phone to make a call.

Soon after, the school leaders arrived.

After some polite exchanges in the front row, the school leaders finally took their seats, and the photographer standing at the very front raised his camera and shouted, "Alright, get ready!"

Xu Ying put on a smiling expression.

The photo freezes in time.

After taking another photo of everyone throwing their hats, the group disbanded.

Xu Ying: "......"

It really only took half an hour to queue and ten minutes to take a photo—no, it should only have taken five minutes.

Is it really necessary to be so perfunctory?

Meanwhile, the next group of people waiting to take photos had already lined up nearby, just waiting for them to leave so they could stand on the platform.

My roommate complained, "They took the photos so quickly, I don't even want to know how ugly they'll look when they come out."

"Yeah, I just blinked, I'm so afraid they'll take a picture of me with my eyes closed..."
