The mixed-race clans in the forest at the beginning of the miracle

The mixed-race clans in the forest at the beginning of the miracle

I... am dead?

Jiang Yunlan, who had fallen off the cliff, never expected to regain consciousness. Surrounded by darkness and unable to move, she initially thought she was dead.

At that moment, she vaguely heard a voice, a familiar language and a tone she had never heard before.

The voice was genderless, its tone utterly indifferent: "...Accepted, but in a near-death state, with a high probability of not surviving..."

Jiang Yunlan was bewildered. Before she could continue listening, her thoughts were swept away by a shout.

Hungry.

So hungry...

Food. Food! Food—

This seemed to be her will, or perhaps someone's obsession saying: I want food!

In her dazed state, Jiang Yunlan felt someone pry open her mouth and stuff water and crushed fruit into it. Her body craved food intensely, and without thinking, she swallowed the food that was being forced into her mouth.

The frantic cries of hunger receded like a tide, and the brain received the feeling of hunger from the body, while the burning and cramping sensation in the stomach became increasingly clear.

In that instant, Jiang Yunlan connected with the world and realized that she was still "alive".

The hazy sounds around her became clearer, and several different voices buzzed in her ears in languages she had never heard before.

She felt uneasy. Who exactly was the person who saved her?

"Would different ethnic groups also appear during this period? It's worth observing." The strange yet familiar voice appeared again; it was her familiar mother tongue. She felt much more at ease, yet also somewhat surprised, but suddenly lost consciousness, leaving only a trace of doubt flashing through her mind.

What does this sentence mean?

She didn't know how much time had passed before Jiang Yunlan awoke from the darkness. The moment she opened her eyes, she understood what those words meant.

She was an ordinary college student in the 21st century. During her vacation, she returned to her hometown in the mountains, but accidentally fell off a cliff and died, and was transported to the world of beastmen.

Jiang Yunlan scratched her fluffy tail, then couldn't help rubbing her trembling ears. She really had transmigrated into a beastman's body. She wondered when the original body had last taken a bath; her fluffy tail and ears didn't feel good to the touch and definitely needed cleaning.

She couldn't recall how she felt when she died, and her mindset was unusually positive. As for the time travel, she had barely escaped with her life, so she might as well go ahead and transmigrate.

"The transmigrator has regained consciousness, his vital signs are gradually strengthening, and he is out of the near-death state."

Jiang Yunlan looked in the direction of the cold, genderless voice. A transparent, slime-like ball floated in mid-air, seemingly not even in the messy cave.

"The first day of observation on the new planet. The space jump was affected by the transmigrator, and this recorded civilization jumped to the primitive orc civilization. The transmigrator has been accepted by the original body and encountered a multi-race orc group before his second death. Both the former and the latter are rare phenomena, and more records should be made. Record 022." It spoke as if no one else was there, as if it could not be seen or heard.

Jiang Yunlan met its slowly looking eyes and clearly saw it frozen in place, its round eyes turning into vertical lines, as if it were very surprised.

"Great! You're awake!"

A female deer-beastman with orange hair, orange eyes, antlers on her head, and wheat-colored skin suddenly approached Jiang Yunlan, blocking her view.

The deer-beastman with short orange hair seemed not to understand her reaction. He turned to look at the empty cave entrance, then turned back and spoke in a language she couldn't understand, "There's nothing outside. What were you looking at?"

"By the way, my name is Feng Hong. What's your name? I've never seen a squirrel beastman before. You're not a beastman who lives in the forest, are you?"

Feng Hong rattled off a string of words, then glanced up at the squirrel-beastman cub's bewildered and confused expression. She suddenly slapped her forehead and exclaimed, "I almost forgot. You're not a beastman from around here, so you probably can't understand what I'm saying."

A helpless laugh echoed in the cave. Jiang Yunlan turned her head in confusion and saw the source of the voice.

A deer-beastman, bearing a striking resemblance to Feng Hong, sat on the ground. Below her right eye was a white, plum-blossom-like mark, and beside her lay a long wooden stick. On her left leg was a very large scar.

“Let Cotton ask her. Maybe she’s an orc who escaped from the rocky area too,” Maple said, picking up a sharp stone and continuing to chisel at the wood, trying to carve out a large “bamboo” that could hold things.

Maple Red agreed and quickly pulled the sluggish sheep-beastman Cotton in front of the squirrel-beastman cub. She explained to the sheep-beastman, who had been in the forest for a season, while gesturing wildly, her body language incredibly expressive.

Her older sister is so smart, of course she should listen to her.

Jiang Yunlan looked at the friendly yet perplexing actions of the strange beastmen and felt an urge to cover her head, but her hand instinctively pressed against her stomach.

"Gurgle~"

I'm so hungry, my stomach is still so hungry.

She couldn't imagine how long the original owner of this body had been starving. She knew someone had fed her before, but she was still incredibly hungry, as if she hadn't eaten for days and nights.

"You seem to be able to see me, time traveler."

The transparent slime ball floated in front of Jiang Yunlan. Seeing her slightly averted gaze, it understood. "I see. I get it now. This new discovery is worth recording."

After 022 finished speaking, it stopped looking at Jiang Yunlan, who was instinctively avoiding it, and slowly moved to the side of the other beastmen, as if it were writing the "record" it had mentioned.

Jiang Yunlan hadn't quite sorted out what had happened and didn't dare talk to the strange creature in front of her. It seemed to have transmigrated to the Beast World because of her, but if she remembered correctly, Blue Star should be an ordinary scientific world, so how could a creature like 022 exist?

Could it have come from Earth? What is it meant to record—the birth of a civilization?

Jiang Yunlan had many questions in her mind. Why did she come to this world after her death, and why did she affect 022's space jump?

A churning hunger pang gnawed at her stomach, accompanied by an unbearable, sharp pain. She strongly suspected that the original owner of this body had starved to death. Although the original owner had accepted her, she hadn't gained their memories and couldn't fulfill their wishes.

...I feel a little uncomfortable.

The little squirrel-like beastwoman sat listlessly on the ground, leaning against the wall. Her gray tail and ears drooped limply, and her hands were pressed against her stomach. She remained silent, as if too hungry to speak.

After Maple Red finished communicating with the sheep-orc sheep, this is the scene that greeted her when she turned around.

"Hello, squirrel, orc cub." Cotton squatted down in front of Jiang Yunlan, stumbled a bit, and said the name of her race. After waking up with a high fever in the summer, his mind became a bit fuzzy, and he was always a beat slow to react to unfamiliar things.

Jiang Yunlan didn't understand, shook her head with difficulty, and said in a voice so weak that it was almost non-existent, "I'm... sorry, I don't understand."

In short, it took her most of her effort.

The orcs in the cave, hearing the completely unfamiliar language, knew that she was an orc who had come from a very far place; no wonder an orc had collapsed in the forest.

"Great! Our clan will have one more member!" Feng Hong said happily.

If the orcs don't want the orcs, then they're ours!

But seeing Jiang Yunlan's weak state, as if she were about to die, she was worried: "This squirrel-beastman cub is so small. She will be the youngest member of our clan in the future. I don't know if she can survive."

Hearing her younger sister's worried voice, Maple Syrup said without turning her head, "I hope I can survive."

She knew the squirrel-beastman cub wasn't injured, but had nearly starved to death. Hopefully, the cub's life could be saved, and it wouldn't die tomorrow.

Jiang Yunlan was unaware of their worries. Seeing that no orcs spoke to her, she silently observed the clan.

This clan has ten orcs, six of whom are deer-like orcs with antlers. She guessed that the other two lemming orc cubs, the semi-adult sheep orc Cotton, and the adult rabbit orc were, like her, orcs from other races who had been taken in.

When the white-haired, red-eyed rabbit-beastman met her gaze, he seemed startled and unconsciously shrank back.

Seeing this, she smiled amicably, but a hint of heaviness flashed in her eyes. It was strange that this clan of deer-beastmen would take in beastmen from other races. This clan was clearly not a wealthy one.

The cave, barely big enough to sleep thirty orcs, was easily shrunk under her gaze. She could see everything inside with a single glance, including the food piled in the corner. Most of the food was fruit, with only a few pieces of meat showing signs of decay.

The deer-beastman with white plum blossom markings below her eyes, leaning on a wooden stick, was helped by the only two young deer-beastmen in the cave to the place where food was placed. She slowly put down the stick, sat on the ground, and picked up the food, seemingly to distribute the dinner.

Jiang Yunlan observed her movements and guessed that she was the leader of this clan.

This clan has no fire, and the beastmen either wear untanned, dry, stiff animal hides or huddle around some grass, clearly indicating a primitive beastman clan. Therefore, the beastman who has the right to distribute food must be the clan leader.

The deer-orc leader counted out each orc's dinner for the day and had another young deer-orc hand it to them.

Jiang Yunlan also received dinner: four oval-shaped red fruits, each about the size of a palm. She thanked them and slowly ate the four fruits; the familiar sour taste made her lips twitch. She didn't forget to check the food the other orcs had received, to gauge the clan's attitude towards outsiders.

The sheep-beastman and rabbit-beastman each held six fruits. Two lemming-beastman cubs, like her, had four fruits. A deer-beastman, silently hammering a stone knife and appearing to be middle-aged, also had four fruits. Three elderly deer-beastmen lying at the innermost part of the cave had only two fruits.

The deer-beastman leader took five fruits and distributed seven fruits to the deer-beastman who was supporting him.

Seeing that the Deer Beastman leader distributed food according to labor capacity, did not discriminate against other races, and did not abandon the elderly beastmen who had lost their ability to work, Jiang Yunlan felt relieved.

Thankfully, primitive society did not develop a system of slavery, so she was not enslaved but was accepted as one of her people.

She breathed a sigh of relief, then suddenly everything went dark. A young deer-beastman holding seven fruits stood in front of her, staring at her with orange eyes, seemingly hesitating about something.

After a long while, the deer-beastman revealed a heartbroken expression that anyone could easily understand, and slowly handed over a fruit from his arms.

Jiang Yunlan was stunned. She looked at the young deer-beastman's pained reaction, then at the fruit in her hand, and for a moment she didn't know whether she should accept it or not.

"Is this cub starving to death?" Feng Hong looked at the squirrel-beastman cub with a blank expression, took a deep breath, and immediately stopped worrying about the food she had given away. She stuffed the fruit into the cub's mouth, "Eat quickly, or you'll die."

If this cub dies, she probably won't be able to find any other cubs in the forest. With all the tribes that chose to migrate gone, it will be very difficult for her to find new members.
