The orcs of Adventurer's Street and Hundred Goods Street are Xia's children, don't...
A messenger bird, flying from its mountain habitat, soared across the sky and arrived at the grassland.
It stayed in the grassland's feeding area, approaching the beastman who trained it and making "chirp chirp chirp" sounds. Yan Dahe noticed its return, immediately took the letter it brought back, and delivered it to Jiang Yunlan.
Under the expectant gazes of several orcs, Jiang Yunlan quickly read the letter, smiled, and looked up at them, saying, "Cangmu and the others have arrived at the mountains safely, without encountering any problems along the way."
Perhaps it was because Yuan Bingsheng was stunned by the escort team's fighting strength. She behaved quite obediently and did not attempt to send any messages outwards.
Upon hearing this good news, Maple Syrup smiled just like Lan, and said in a relaxed tone, "Our warriors have also located the Wood Force orc team through the intelligence provided by the Apocalypse spy. The behemoth has not yet appeared, and they are still tracking and observing those Apocalypse orcs."
"According to the reports from the observation team, the orc with the power of wood has been on guard against something. They are heading towards the mountains, and their destination seems to be that barren wasteland beyond the mountains. They seem to know what danger they will encounter." Maple Syrup's voice was quite meaningful.
Upon hearing this, the orcs present understood that she meant things were as Lan had predicted. Soon, they would see the giant beast appear.
Jiang Yunlan had also considered the beastmen's thoughts, but was somewhat puzzled. Why would they flee to places devoid of vegetation? Was it because they knew what kind of colossal beasts they would encounter, fearing that the beasts that would come knocking were powerful wood beasts? Or was it that they would be met by beastmen on that other side?
"Lan, our warriors will be seeing the giant beast soon, why do you look unhappy? Isn't everything going so smoothly?" Maple Sugar looked at Lan, who was frowning slightly, and felt puzzled.
There was another wood elf in the observation team, along with Lorelei and the others. She thought that the members of the observation team would all return alive and well, and Lan didn't need to worry about them so much.
Hearing her name called, Jiang Yunlan snapped out of her reverie, pulled out a piece of paper from the table, and wrote a letter while explaining, "I'm worried they have helpers. But it's okay, we also have helpers in the mountains. We can ask Sveta, Hati, and Feng Hong to send reinforcements."
She spent a few minutes writing two letters to the mountain habitat and the observation team, handing them to Yan Dahe, before continuing with other matters in the tribe.
The distant ice floes that had reached the mountains seemed unlikely to leave anytime soon. Perhaps in a few days, she should find an opportunity to send the rock jujubes to their habitat in the mountains. With these thoughts in mind, Jiang Yunlan put down her brush and ended her work for the morning.
She slowly pulled out a cushion and placed it behind the chair, then took out a bag of instant food from under the desk, her whole body seemingly screaming, "I don't want to leave the Central Building today."
022 sat down next to her, turned to look at her movements, and said with a puzzled look, "Lan, aren't you going out at noon today either? It's been twelve days since you last wandered around the habitat. You've been a bit too hard on yourself lately, how about relaxing a little?"
"Has it been that long since I last visited the habitat? It seems so." Jiang Yunlan calculated the time and fell into deep thought.
She wanted to say that she hadn't been mistreating herself, but her gaze suddenly fell on the pocket where only Freya was, and she immediately shut her mouth. She had been staying in the central building recently, and the elves all knew that she was dealing with those headache-inducing documents, so of course they hadn't come to play with her.
It had been a long time since any fairy had suddenly appeared while she was walking, floating onto her and hanging there.
She belatedly realized that she needed to go out for a walk during her rest time.
Just then, Maple Syrup, who was about to go out, stepped into the room where she was staying and said to her familiarly, "Lan, do you need me to bring back anything to eat today?"
"No need, I'll go out with you," Jiang Yunlan replied with a somber expression.
Hearing this, Maple Syrup looked at her in surprise, but the surprise turned into a happy smile in the next second. "You've been cooped up in the Central Building all this time, it's time to go out and get some fresh air. It's lunchtime now, how about we go to the Baiwu Street?"
She had the same idea in mind, so she got up and pulled Maple Syrup outside. She didn't notice that the orcs, including Black Earth, who often watched over her, looked overjoyed, as if they had breathed a sigh of relief.
The grassland habitats of summer have evolved to the point where shops and stalls selling goods are no longer limited to trading areas and commercial streets.
Several streets lined with numerous inns form distinct streets. Orcs buy and sell all sorts of items on these streets.
For example, orcs who are given the title of "adventurer" will definitely go to Adventurer Street.
If you randomly grab an orc who has successfully passed the adventurer exam in the central left wing, he will tell you. The starting point of Adventurer Street is the armor shop near the blacksmith.
After browsing the armor shop, walk down to the pharmacy that sells herbs, ointments, potions, and other items.
The products in the pharmacy are blended by Ze Lan and alchemists.
Since obtaining special items from the weasel beastmen, the alchemists seem to have been inspired and have let their creativity run wild, throwing all sorts of strange things into the pots in an effort to find out how to use them.
In Xia's habitat, the orcs often see alchemists seeking out elves and orcs with natural powers, asking them to add something that Lan calls natural elements to their potions.
The alchemists argued confidently that if special items could be used in medicine, then natural elements must also be able to be used. They believed they would eventually discover the uses of natural elements.
Sometimes, they produce useful healing items. But more often, however, what they create can be used as poison—the kind of poison that, after feeding to wild animals, still leaves the animal flesh edible.
Because so many new medicines have been developed, alchemists are quite welcoming to orcs who come to buy their drugs. They'll enthusiastically introduce their creations and randomly give away a bottle of a new potion to customers who catch their eye, letting them scatter it around for fun. All the customers need to do is remember to give them feedback on the potion's power afterward.
After leaving the pharmacy where you might be asked to test drugs, look to your right and you'll see a shop located in the animal husbandry area.
Adventurers come here to hire war beasts from the breeding area, as well as mounts for their outings. Orcs who have obtained beast-keeping licenses rarely come here, as they can go directly to the breeding area to adopt their own war beasts.
Further down the path, you can find various boxes to carry on your back or in your hand, as well as bags of any size, in different shops. They also sell dry rations suitable for long trips, and snacks made by the shop owners that their war beasts love.
At the end of Adventurer's Street is a fork in the road. Turning left leads to the gate to the habitat, while turning right leads to a lush, green planting area.
It is said that many orcs come here to overlook the farmland before going on missions. Therefore, Lan placed rest chairs along the road leading to the farmland.
This path isn't the main road leading to the planting area within the habitat, so the orcs stopping here won't obstruct other orcs' journeys. It's unclear who first started picnicking here, but later this place became a picnic spot for warriors and adventurers before heading out.
There wasn't a single weapon shop from one end of Adventurer's Street to the other, which didn't confuse the orcs. This was because, within Xia's habitat, orcs other than warriors and police officers were not allowed to carry weapons on the streets.
Weapons forged in the blacksmith's workshop all have unique serial numbers and are generally only available to public officials, not for sale to the general public. Non-public official orcs who wish to obtain weapons can apply for them at the blacksmith's workshop as long as their contribution points meet the required standard, but there is an additional condition.
The condition is that they must respond to the call to fight when Xia needs them, or send their own weapons to the battlefield.
Most orcs who pass the assessment to become "adventurers" are those who have reached the required contribution points and have also received weapons. In essence, adventurers are the reserve force for orc warriors. Their daily routine involves accompanying warriors to explore the surrounding area and clear dangers, except that they don't have to hand over all the items they collect like the warriors do.
If they don't have their own weapons and armor, the soldiers leading them out will provide a batch of weapons and armor for them to rent. Once the mission is complete, the soldiers will take the weapons and armor with them.
After all, losing either of these items would require writing a report.
The street opposite Adventurer's Street is called Hundred Items Street. As its name suggests, it is a street that collects and sells all kinds of items.
Adventurers venturing out will sell the supplies they've collected in the Hundred Goods Street. Adventurers who dislike managing their stalls will sell their inventory to vendors who specialize in buying or selling certain items. Occasionally, adventurers will be asked by familiar vendors to bring back items that can only be found outside their territory.
There is a section in the long Baiwu Street that is filled with the aroma of delicious food.
The food here is slightly different from the food in the cafeteria. Perhaps it's because the food vendors here don't care about the customers' well-being; they only know how to stir-fry, stew, and steam food with the freshly bought ingredients...
As for what the ingredients will be, that depends on what items the adventurers bring back today.
An anonymous horned beastman described the most gruesome food he had ever eaten here as Steamed Horn Crisps. It was a dish made from several horns that looked freshly broken off. The taste was incredibly delicious, but while eating it, he couldn't help but touch his own horns to see if they were still there.
The wrongly accused food stall owner exclaimed, "It's called Steamed Horn Crisps, but its main ingredient isn't the head and horns of a beast, but rather the thorns on a horned beast that look like horns!"
"The food we're selling today is called 'Numa Sai-shu' (marsh vegetable soup). Arashi, would you like some?" Maple Syrup looked up at the Thousand Food Stall's signboard and, with her superior eyesight, read through the notes on the signboard word by word. "Today's dish has a fixed soup base, and we recommend adding black bat wings as a side dish."
After she finished speaking, she looked down and realized that Jiang Yunlan, who had been to her right, was gone. Helplessly, she looked towards the food stall and, unsurprisingly, saw Lan being dragged to the stall owner by the beastmen.
"Lan, today's dish is a marsh vegetable soup base, black bat wings as a side dish, plus a side of white mud cake as a main course. It's the perfect combination! All the customers say it tastes best this way." The stall owner brought out the prepared food and pushed it towards Jiang Yunlan with a bright smile.
Jiang Yunlan stared silently for a few seconds at the black bat wings swaying back and forth amidst the white ointment within the green bubbles. The appearance of this dish inexplicably gave her the feeling that if she ate it, her soul would ascend to heaven.
Quickly dismissing her guesses, she took out a copper coin and, without a word, shoved it into the hands of the stall owner who was clamoring not to accept her coins. Then she went to the side with the large bowl of black soil that had been taken from her earlier.
The food at the Thousand Food Stall is known for its bizarre appearance, but its delicious taste is absolutely amazing. The three tables and chairs set up by the stall owner were already full of customers, but the greedy orcs couldn't resist bringing their own tables and chairs so they could immediately enjoy the freshly cooked food.
Therefore, Jiang Yunlan had only taken two steps away from the stall when she heard an orc calling her name.
They said, "Lan! I still have a seat here, come and eat here!"

Author's Note: Later, Xia expanded his territory outwards, and the control over entry and exit was not as strict as before. Within Xia's territory, where the presence of Apocalypse Orcs was confirmed, Orcs would form their own teams to explore areas that had already been cleared by adventurers.
They are affectionately known as "wild adventurers".
The Xia tribe had two territories.
First, it is an absolutely safe habitat (free from external harm). Soldiers patrol the habitat around the clock, and you can move freely within it without needing to register your departure. However, you must register if you leave the habitat, even if you are still within the territory.
Secondly, there's the territory, including the habitat. This refers to areas within the territory that Xia's warriors can reach, where no other orc clans exist, and where the level of danger has been preliminarily determined. Launching a distress flare within the territory will summon orc warriors to their aid.
The difference between the two should be easy to understand.
