Chapter 19 The tough sickly man

Chapter 19 The tough sickly man

A very intimidating face appeared behind the parted thorn bushes.

Yang held Ah Si's collar with one hand, and no matter how he struggled, he couldn't move him at all.

When he had no expression on his face, he gave people a tremendous pressure, as if even the weeds at his feet were forced to bow down.

Chen Chunxing's eyes wandered, "Look at you, you are an adult, why are you still bullying children?"

Yang Yi let go of his hand and said in a muffled voice, "You agreed to stay there and wait for me."

Chen Chunxing immediately lowered his head in guilt. He caught a glimpse of several people following Yang Yi and quickly changed the subject.

"Uncle Zhang, you are here too!"

Old Zhang glanced at her strangely and said unhappily, "I should be the one asking you this! How dare you run around everywhere? Everyone says you're crazy, but I didn't believe it before. Now I have no choice but to believe it!"

Behind the thorn bush, a carriage was parked alone among a pile of wolf carcasses, and the blood-stained wooden wheels left many marks on the wasteland.

Chen Chunxing glanced at the ground, sniffed the strong and pungent smell of blood in the air, and smirked.

After a person dies, the soul leaves the body and usually cannot go too far away from the corpse. Lao Bai came to lock the soul just now, and it was nearby.

She was anxious to come and see him without any concerns. Now that she was caught, she had to find a way to rescue him.

"Oh my god! Did you guys kill all these people, Uncle Zhang? That's amazing..."

Chen Chunxing took a few steps back and hid behind Yang Yi, revealing only half of his face to peek at him. He looked frightened and curious, and his tone was filled with a hint of involuntary admiration.

Old Zhang said nothing, keeping his mouth tightly shut, looking very secretive.

He was thinking about what Commander Wei had said before he left.

"You can trust the eldest daughter of the Shen family, but you can't trust her completely. What she says may be true, but there must be traps behind it. When you get along with her, remember to think twice before you act."

That really makes sense.

A little girl of about ten years old, seeing the corpses all over the ground, although she pretended to be afraid, the indifference in her eyes could not be completely concealed.

Several nearby officers looked at each other, and surprisingly, their expressions did not show any complacency, but rather a bit of embarrassment.

They glanced at the carriage almost at the same time.

Now it was Chen Chunxing's turn to be surprised.

When she was on the tree, she saw from afar a sturdy figure fighting with a pack of wolves while being surrounded by bandits. Blood and flesh were flying everywhere, so she couldn't see it clearly.

Now everyone's reaction seemed to be telling her the most impossible fact.

That sickly guy who nearly lost half his life turned out to be so skilled?

Could it be possible that this county magistrate was a military scholar...

Chen Chunxing's thoughts raced as he pulled Yang Yi's sleeve anxiously.

"Now that we've found Sister Wu, let's hurry back. Grandma will be worried if she doesn't see anyone when she wakes up."

Old Zhang turned his head when he heard that.

Under the carriage, in the only clean space, two children, their bodies dyed blood red, were cuddling together.

The smaller boy among them had already fainted from fright.

The girl had a dull expression, dilated pupils, and one hand was tightly gripping the boy's arm.

"Are you out looking for her?" Old Zhang pointed at the little girl.

Chen Chunxing nodded honestly, "Manager Wu has always taken good care of our family. When I heard that Sister Wu had escaped into the mountains, I got anxious and ran out to look for her."

She tiptoed, carefully approached the carriage, squatted down, and patted Wu Min's hand, which was covered with sticky blood, seemingly to comfort and persuade her.

"Sister Wu, what can I say to you? There are many wolves and wild beasts in this wilderness. How dare a girl like you run away? Don't mess around like that again."

Wu Min raised her head and looked at Chen Chunxing blankly, not knowing whether she heard it or not.

Chen Chunxing didn't care about anything and took out a handkerchief to wipe the blood clots on the upper half of her eyelashes.

"Although we are exiled now, we are fortunate to have met a good official like Lord Wei. As long as we keep a positive attitude, we will naturally be able to live a good life when we get there."

Perhaps it was the concern expressed in the soft voice that activated a rotten body.

Wu Min's body trembled, and she finally let go of her hand and threw herself into Chen Chunxing's arms. Her shoulders shook violently and she let out a suppressed, low sob.

Even when he was in extreme despair, he dared not cry out loud.

Chen Chunxing let her hold him, with a hint of coldness in his eyes.

She had clearly observed the fate of the Wu family girl before. Although it was not very good, it was not too bad either. There was no danger along the way.

Seeing that she was being taken care of by Jiang's collateral relatives, Chen Chunxing did not deliberately approach her.

But now it seems that something unexpected has happened.

She lowered her eyes and glanced at the boy lying on Wu Min's lap. For a moment, she didn't know whether to laugh or sigh.

There are always some fools who, even if they can't take care of themselves, will give up everything for some unreal things.

So sad.

But it is also admirable.

Chen Chunxing knew she couldn't do that, but fortunately she was more capable than an ordinary person. She helped Wu Min up and let Yang Yi hold the boy. The slight ripple in her heart was easily smoothed out.

Protecting one is protecting, protecting two is also protecting. The box of gold and silver under the old tree in Xiyuan, apart from the information given by the Wu family, has always been involved in a cause and effect.

It should be returned.

The two little girls stood together, and Chen Chunxing's fair and tender cheeks were stained with filth, but she did not show any disgust or resistance.

Looking at this scene, Lao Zhang's heart softened and he began to hesitate secretly.

How could someone as kind as the eldest daughter of the Shen family set herself up for such a trap? Lord Wei must be overthinking it...

——

When the group returned to the village, it was already bright.

The awakened prisoners gathered in the open space, all with dazed looks, unable to recover.

Diao was stopped by two police officers. She scratched at their faces like a madman and cried out.

"I dare not offend you, sir. Please don't stop me! The girl is my life. If she goes, I will not be able to survive!"

The officer had been on guard all night and was already worried. Now he had to deal with a crazy woman, which made him extremely depressed.

If he hadn't known that the Shen family had caught Wei Touer's eye, he would have been furious long ago!

Seeing this, Chen Chunxing quickly shouted, "Grandma! I'm here!"

Diao froze when she heard the voice, and quickly turned her head. After seeing Chen Chunxing's appearance clearly, her body shook.

Chen Chunxing slapped his forehead and wiped his face with his sleeve. "Don't get excited! Grandma, please hold on! This isn't my blood. I'm fine!"

She sounded so confident, and didn't seem like someone who was seriously injured. Diao finally took a breath, and her expression changed again. The worry and fear she had just had turned into anger.

"Where the hell have you been?! Do I have to break your legs to teach you a lesson?"

Chen Chunxing glanced at the trembling Wu Min, and was afraid that speaking directly might "accidentally hurt" the girl, so he shyly smiled and moved aside.

"I'm taking Yang Yi to rescue the county magistrate. Didn't you say that if we can establish a good relationship with the county magistrate, our family will have peace along the way."

Diao looked at the carriage dyed black and red, and her legs began to feel weak again. She glared at Chen Chunxing fiercely, but did not dare to say anything else.

When she first heard about the noble lady's identity, she mentioned it, but when she learned that the woman wanted her granddaughter to be a maid, she became mortal enemies with her!

This damn kid has no idea what he is talking about. In order to shirk responsibility, he dares to say anything!

Family members know their own business. She knows the eldest girl's personality very well. Although she seems to be talking nonsense, there might be something bad hidden behind it.
