Chapter 15

Chapter 15

Planting is a big deal, and everyone gets up early to prepare.

Ying Zhao was selecting seeds with others. He originally wanted to continue the experiment, but after working on it for several days in a row, he felt a little dizzy and wanted to take a break.

Ji Wenxue and Yao Si were digging a hole on the ground. The sun was just beginning to rise, and a distant red object was on the horizon. The golden-red light penetrated the cold air of the early morning, but before it could reach people, the temperature had already gone.

This kind of weather is not too sunny, which is very suitable for work. Since we didn’t catch any chickens in the morning, everyone was actually hungry, but when we thought about the seeds we planted now that would soon grow into food, we were full of energy again.

Jiang Zouwei took over Wan Di's shift, directing the overall situation from outside. Wan Di, looking for something, came in and raised her hand to grab it when something unexpected happened. The jar, which she had been able to easily reach, suddenly moved a long way away from her.

In other words, her height suddenly shrank.

Even after she asked Ying Zhao to sit down on the chair, Wan Di still found it hard to believe. "You mean, I became low because of the excessive blood loss and insufficient blood supply?"

Ying Zhao hesitated for a moment, then nodded. "Although it sounds a bit far-fetched, my statement should be correct in the current situation."

Wandi frowned. She remembered that in addition to the blood from her wounds, she had also lost a lot of menstrual blood to wake up the baby girls. However, after her body fully recovered, she no longer paid attention to this matter. "So... is this temporary?"

"I can't guarantee that right now. We need to observe for a few more days." Ying Zhao looked at Wan Di's expression, paused, and said, "But from my experience, Wan Di, you'd better not get your hopes up too much. Such a powerful force must have lost something."

Wandi couldn't understand this better. "Okay, go out and get busy."

Standing up, she was forced to look up instead of looking down. Wandi couldn't help but slam the table in anger, "Damn it, it's too easy for them to be reduced to ashes like that!" Although she was angry before, she didn't want to mention those people polluting the air. But now she wished she could resurrect those people and kill them all over again.

Although she was angry, she couldn't ignore the situation in front of her. Wandi rubbed her hair and looked out the window at the scene of everyone's planting.

The sun had grown quite scorching, and everyone, dressed in simple, worn clothing, bent over. Beyond that small patch of land, beyond and beyond, lay a vast expanse of green and the boundless ocean. This was a place never before developed, and compared to previously technologically advanced and intelligent regions, it was arguably primitive.

However, she would rather be here than take shelter from the rain under someone else's roof.

They don't need to humble themselves to please others, nor do they need to beautify their bodies to seek pity. They can build their own homes with their own hands.

There is no place where people cannot survive. She doesn't believe that she and her sisters can't do what the predecessors have done. Even if the predecessors can't do it, she can do it!

Wandi made up her mind and went out, deciding to find something to eat for everyone first. Farm work is tiring, so no matter what, everyone must eat well and stay healthy.

However... as soon as he stepped out and was the center of everyone's attention, the mental preparation that Wandi had just made began to collapse.

Enjoying the trust, admiration, and even questioning looks from others was commonplace for Wandi. However, this kind of teasing look was the first time.

"Sister Wandi! Why...why did you suddenly become smaller?" Ji Wenxue ran over.

Everyone stopped what they were doing and looked over with curiosity and concern. Wanda looked around and explained in a few words. She watched everyone's expressions change because of her words, and in the end, they all spoke up for her indignantly. Wanda thought everyone was very cute, and her mood miraculously improved.

"Everyone continue to follow Zou Wei's instructions. I'll go outside to find some food for everyone." It was difficult to find anything on the small hills that they had explored before, so Wan Di didn't plan to go there again.

There was still a large area that had not been explored, and she planned to take an adventure there.

"Wandi!" Jiang Zouwei knew what Wandi was planning without any prior conversation, so when she saw Wandi about to turn around, she called out to him. When Wandi turned around and looked at her seriously, Jiang Zouwei closed her slightly open mouth and spoke again, "Be careful!"

The forests there are tall, and you can always hear the cries of animals, so you can imagine that they are rich in resources. However, such places are generally dangerous, and even a group of people, let alone one person, can't guarantee that they will come out intact.

But to survive, they couldn't just rely on wild fruits that were always picked, or food grown in the soil. What was needed now was something tangible, and besides Wandi, Jiang Zouwei himself didn't have the confidence to have such an ability.

She couldn't help much, so she could only give some advice.

"Yes, big sister, you must be careful!"

"Sister, come back soon!"

"We will be here planting vegetables and waiting for your return!"

Everyone heard that this trip was dangerous, and they all shouted to Wan Di.

Wandi smiled and nodded, "I understand. Thank you everyone, I will be back as soon as possible."

However, although he said so, it was not easy to actually do it. Eveny wanted to find some meat to supplement protein for everyone, or find something nutritious. However, the few he saw in the woods were either shriveled or poisonous.

Wandi didn't return until the moon was high in the west. Seeing everyone's hungry eyes, Wandi felt even more sorry. "I'm sorry, I didn't find it. I'll go again tomorrow and go a little further."

"It's okay, it's okay, Sister Wanti, we are not hungry. Are you hurt?" Ji Wenxue ran over and took Wanti's hand to look at her from head to toe.

Jiang Zouwei also came over with a glass of water. "This place was previously listed as an uninhabited area. The living environment is already very poor, and it is normal that there is little food. It's already amazing that you found the pheasant before. Don't push yourself too hard." As he said that, he patted Wandi's shoulder.

Wandi took the water and took a sip. "I know, but I don't believe I can't find it. In any case, I'll go again tomorrow." She is not someone who is easily frightened by difficulties. If she wants to do something, even if she fails ninety-nine times, she will definitely go next time.

"How about I go with you tomorrow?" Jiang Zouwei asked tentatively.

"No need, you just need to command and dispatch everyone here."

Wandi set out early the next morning. The spring mountains that she had just seen from the window were now under her feet in the blink of an eye.

There is not much difference between the daytime and evening in the deep forest. The tall trees block out the sun, and the little light coming through the gaps can only vaguely illuminate the road conditions.

But the deeper they went, the more desolate it became. Even Wandi began to doubt whether she was on the right path. She was used to going hungry for a few days, and had experienced even harsher conditions. But now everyone was following her, so how could she let them starve?

Wandi was eager to find food and kept looking around.

But there was no living creature in front of him. Wandi didn't even have time to sigh. He just made a mark and continued to move forward.

The moon was already high in the west when Wandi returned, still without a living thing in her hands. She had been puzzled all the way, wondering why she hadn't seen a single living animal. She had been planning to catch a small thing to fill her stomach, but the thing she hadn't thought much of yesterday was nowhere to be found today.

Jiang Zouwei waited for Wandi to come back, then came over and held her hand. He pressed the back of Wandi's hand and said softly, "I accidentally found Fengsheng while digging grass today."

"Fengsheng?" Wandi suddenly thought of the past. "The one we used to eat?" They had been trapped in the primeval forest and had fortunately discovered a kind of grass that, though astringent, could barely fill their stomachs. They had relied on it to survive. They didn't know the scientific name, but they named it Fengsheng.

Jiang Zouwei nodded, "Yes." She raised her hand to wipe the sweat off Wan Di's forehead, "Don't go tomorrow. Things have been a little strange these past few days, I'm afraid something might be wrong. We can talk about meat and eggs later, just fill your stomach for the next few days."

Wan Di looked at Jiang Zouwei with a smile, "I'll listen to you."

She also sensed an unusual smell and actually paid attention to this aspect while searching for food, but unfortunately, neither of them found any clues.

Everyone stayed in the house and ate wild vegetables for a few days without any hope, but found that the seeds in the field sprouted and grew at an unusually fast speed.

"The growth rate is incredible. You can see the veins and leaves, and they are all very healthy." Wandi lowered her head and carefully observed the crops in front of her.

"But isn't it great that the crops are growing so fast and so tall?" Ji Wenxue also squatted down, and at this rate, they would probably be able to eat them soon!

Yao Si knocked Ji Wenxue on the head and said, "You idiot, growing so fast is like forcing a plant to grow. How can that work?" He sighed and said, "You've grown so big for nothing!"

"Hey, Yao Si, what are you talking about? Am I not looking at it more optimistically?" Ji Wenxue stuck out her butt, making Yao Si, who was laughing behind her, stagger.

"When something is out of the ordinary, there must be something wrong." Jiang Zouwei was very frugal with his words, but he said it with interest.

Seeing that Ji Wenxue was unable to resist, she looked at Wandi anxiously. Wandi smiled and said, "Everyone's concerns are justified. What Wenxue said makes sense. It's hard to say whether it's good or bad. Let's observe first."

"Okay, Sister Wandi, I will make sure to observe and record every day." Ji Wenxue immediately took on the task.

"Ah, let me come too. Wenxue, your blind optimism makes the record inaccurate!" Yao Si suddenly pounced on Ji Wenxue's back, but his eyes were looking at Wan Di across from him, "Sister, is this okay?"

"Okay." Wandi raised her eyebrows in surprise. "Why are you suddenly calling me sister? Are you acting like a spoiled child to me?"

Yao Si felt inexplicably shy upon hearing this, as she and Ji Wenxue were of similar age and played well together. Wan Di was actually quite fair with them and wasn't exclusive, but every time she saw Ji Wenxue and Wan Di being affectionate and coquettish, she seemed to sense an unspoken distinction between closeness and distance.

Away from her family, her passion for adventure faded and she settled down, a feeling she envied.
